  • melatonin! I take usually 3 mg and then read until I get tired and it works like a charm and I have a huge issue falling asleep
  • I look at Ross, cute stuff and I usually buy each piece for around $7 but a thrift store sounds good!
  • Glad to hear I am not the only one experiencing this! I've had to ban my scale because I am up 5 pounds and I am so sad and of course I am focusing on that instead of the inches that are coming off.

  • congrads on your success so far and good luck finishing up!
  • I started with the 30 days shred video by Jillian Michaels but really that doesn't get you too far. Are there any planet fitness or chuze gyms around you? They are only $10 a month, I bet you could even pull together enough change to pay for that. Now I am following the new rules of lifting which a book that was about $12…
  • I don't smoke very much a day but I do smoke around certain situations, usually drinking. I don't want to do this anymore so I am not going to tell anyone and just try to move on. It's my last disgusting habit and I am over it. My boyfriend smokes which will make it harder but I know everyone needs to stop on their own.
  • I was obsessed with the scale and it was really brining down my self esteem. I started weight lifting over a month ago and my weight has gone up while i lose inches. Before I was checking the scale everyday, now I manage not to because i know it's going to make me upset. It's not worth it. I love weight lifting and I am…
  • Too bad you can't really get fresh squeezed at the bars but I will have to figure out which ones of these will be easy to order
  • Like someone else mentioned I'll eat really light during the day and work out if I can and then I can eat more at night although I try to take it slow and steady. Maybe interspace the beer and friend food with water?
  • I'm getting my masters in nursing to be a family nurse practitioner. Taking a research class and a class on children and women while doing clinicals. Makes me pretty tired and not want to exercise but I can usually force myself to.
  • cottage cheese! I scoop it up on the special K crackers. Amazing!
  • i started to break out a lot more on my chest. I've been fighting it by showering as soon as possible after working out, maybe that will work with your face? bring some face wipes to the gym so that the sweat won't stay on your face?
  • awesome! congrads
  • I got Jillian's Yoga Meltdown DVD and honestly I was sweating like crazy and my abs were on fire so I think it was working
  • I'm struggling with this question too. I really want the scale to keep going down but I have to eat a lot more to strength train 3 times a week. I guess I would rather be strong and look better than rely on the number. It would be awesome if someone could give us the perfect amount of both to do in a week and how much to…
  • totally disagree. i wear my HRM a lot, which I know is not the end-all-be-all, but as far as walking, it will take me closer to 20 minutes to burn 100 calories. A lot of the other things you do in the 30 day shred and for 25 minutes I burn around 250. How disappointing if you actually believed this and ate according to…
  • I definitely weigh myself too much, especially because I've started weight lifting and the weight loss has stopped. In fact, I told myself i wouldn't weigh myself until tomorrow and I STILL got on the scale. It's kind of sick if you can't really handle it. I'm the same as you, where i feel bad if I am up. We just need to…
  • it happens to a lot of people! I wear bike shorts or spanx like shorts under skirts if i know i will be walking a lot. Tights work too
  • I was doing everything at home until I started lifting heavy. Joining a gym was definitely worth it for that and my gym is only $9.99 a month. Now that I am paying, I go on my schedule because dammit, that's MY money and I want it to be worth it
  • I lift heavy using "New Rules of lifting for women" 3 days a week. The days inbetween I might bike ride or walk or do a dance class or do nothing at all. My main priority is to make sure i am well rested for the lifting at this point. This is a pretty big shift from even a month ago when I was doing cardio everyday.
  • i've been doing it seriously for 2 weeks now, ended up joining a gym because it was too hard to do at home. I have lost over an inch on everything which is pretty amazing, i can feel myself getting stronger. Weight loss isn't happening but whatever, I'd rather look good than care about the number on the scale. Can't wait…
  • apparently a banana?!!??! or a rectangle. Whatever, my waist is getting smaller and I think I look good so forget that!
  • air punches! lifting weights with your arms, crunches? Feel better!
  • I suffer from depression as well and sometimes it's really hard to not let it take over. Do something that makes you happy. Like I will read a good book, dance around to music, snuggle with my dog or look at baby animal pictures. Hard to be sad when doing any of those things. Also, I will start a list of everything I am…
  • I have 5, both my sides covered and my shoulder cap and bicep. I think I am done now though, they are expensive and I have to pretend to be a professional hah
  • Hi, I'm Jessica Currently 5'6'' and 148 pounds. Scale hasn't been moving so I decided to go to lifting because what I really want is to look good and be strong. I'm having a hard time moving from the scale and eating more. How many calories are you all eating?
  • Hey, I just started a couple of weeks ago and I have been taking measurements and I've lost an inch all over! Plus, when I flex my biceps, the muscles actually move. It's pretty awesome

  • At my clinic we recommend carb counting, if your doctor hasn't taught you about it, I am sure there are websites that can help. Are you having to inject insulin as well? That can get a little tricky if you are exercising so make sure to be a snack or some candy if your glucose becomes low. Eat healthy foods but watch out…
  • i'm just starting to cook a lot and use my crockpot ALL THE TIME. I have a 6 quart one that I love and only a couple of times have I wished for a smaller one. There are so many healthy recipes on the internet and then you can freeze the left overs. For sure my favorite thing in my kitchen
  • I'm a RN working on my masters to be a NP. Working in a clinic is what scared me enough to start getting healthy and losing weight, saw way too many people killing themselves. It is really hard to eat well when you are away from home for so long. I would love to be friends with more nurses on here.
