I'm also 5'7'' and currently weight 152. The heaviest I've been was 175. I'd like to get to 145, my goal weight, but lately, I'm focusing more on my fat % and clothing fit. I feel good at this weight but am still a little soft around the edges, even though I'm quite athletic

You look like you're in great shape! And you have nice hair ;-)

Salmon Eggs Tuna Greek yogurt Whey protein shakes, occasionally Cottage cheese, light Swiss cheese and aged cheddar  Northern shrimp (watch for the sodium though)

Like you, whole grains were very difficult for me to ‘digest’ :embarassed: and I wouldn’t leave home without a roll of Tums or Gaviscon in my bag because of acid reflux. . With my MD, at the beginning, I ate gluten-free such as millet, arrowroot, buckwheat and/or amaranth bread and cereal as well as pasta. I found them in…

Just try and choose the unprocesses peanut butter. Less junk. If you can make it fit in your daily caloric intake, go for it! I love it too, and eat it almost everyday. If you love it that much (I know I do) it would be silly to completely stop eating it all together ;-)

http://www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/food-sources-of-iron.php As per this article, dried herbs like thym and parsley (and others). Cocoa powder! Yep, cocoa powder ;-) Liver, clams, oysters, caviar, pumpkin seeds, squash seeds, tahini, sundried tomatoes, dried apricots and sunflower seeds. Interesting as I also have…

^^This. Absolutely! Hubby and I signed up for evening classes of capoeira, twice a week, 1.5 hours each. You have to shift your schedule around a bit and try to accomodate, even if only 30 minutes a day, some sort of work-out.

Hi there, I understand. Although we do not have kids, we have a very busy lifestyle with lotsa' commuting back and forth. Anyhoo, what I try and do also is to incorporate mini-workouts at work: - arm dips on my chair (3 sets of 15) - front and side planks in bathroom, leaning on the counter (3-4 sets of 30 seconds each) -…

^^This. We also live a very busy lifestyle and always make time to cook our own stuff, 90-95% of the time. You have to commit and make time. Our health is our number one priority. Ingedients: Hydrogenated coconut oil, high maltose corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup? No thanks.

The minute my eyes are opened, I'm hungry! LOL. Weekdays: 6:15 am. Weekends: between 7:30 and 8:30 am.

Thanks for sharing this info.. I also transitionned to Stevia and just couldn't get used to the taste. I'm not a big sugar eater anymore, so I went back to my traditionnal cane sugar and ocasionnally, real maple syrup! The little calories that 1 tea spoon offers is well worth it!

I loved reading this... And I can totally relate as this is exactly the kind of thing I would do! Way back in the day, while living in Mexico, I joined Alfredo Menese's boxing gym and decided to become a boxer. Yep, a boxer. Granted, I only made it to amateur with 4 fights under my belt (3 KO's and 1 TKO) but it felt…

No so... I eat whole foods, veggies, good fats, some fruit and do not eat processed foods nor sugar (except 1 tea spoon in my coffee). I would starve on 1200 calories a day. MFP set me at 1240, with very low protein and fat and very high carbs. Switched it to 30% carbs, 35% protein and 35% fat as well as lowered my sodium…

Wow! Thank you for putting it in everyday people language! I actually understand this and can apply it as well. You look fabulous by the way!

Yay! I was also questionning my goal and even though everyone is different, it gives me a very good idea! I'm also 5'7'' and at my heaviest, 2 years ago, I was 175. Currently, I weigh between 151 and 153. My goal is to get under 150 (I know, they're just numbers) and I would like to maintain at around 140-145. Given that I…

Good job! I also quit (will celebrate 4 years March 3rd) and it was the best decision I ever took. I Read Allan Carr's book and with the support of whyquit.com, never looked back. And I was a hardcore smoker of 15 years. I did put on temporary weight (approx. 10 pounds) but once my body got into the groove of functionning…

Boulangierie St-Méthode whole wheat. It's 130 calories per serving of 2 slices; 7g of protein and no sugar nor fat added. It's hard to find bread that doesn't have sugar nor glucose-fructose. The ingredients are also good: Whole wheat flour with germ, wheat gluten, yeast, oat hull fibre, salt, vinegar, calcium propionate,…

One ouce of pure maple syrup which contains fewer calories and a higher concentration of minerals than honey! 74 calories, and some good stuff in there too like maganese and zinc both good for your heart and immune system. Not so bad after all!

Haha! Too funny... Love bananas and eat one every single day! it,s like my treat with a little maple syrup or dipped in a tad of almond butter! Yummy!

Yessssssssssss.... simple, cheap and effective!

I don't belong to a gym and never have. Capoeira, 2 times a week, 90 minutes each time, plus a third workout at home for 45 minutes is what I get in a week.

I've tried them all. Stevia, Truvia, Splenda and simply don't like the after taste. So I stick to cane sugar. 2 tea spoons a day isn't going to hinder my fat loss. I'm just careful with portions and watch the total amount calories at the end of the day. I'd rather 'skip' on something else than to have anything else but…

Yep, I'm exactly like you... I drink when I'm thirsty, some days more than others. Get lots of water from my whole foods. And just like you said, when I eat grain or sugar I drink more. If I go out to a restaurant, even if making a 'wise choice', I'll drink tons! There's just so much sodium in everything.

^^This. Moderation is key.

Hi there, On our last visit to Cuba, we had some fabulous tilapia at our friend's place and the recipe was so simple and delicious: Marinate (anywhere from 10-20 minutes) your filets in lemon juice with a little olive oil and lots of garlic. Heat your pan, throw them in and add some cumin and a little pepper on top. Turn…

You're right because you need arms and wrists of steel to peel and chop a butternut squash! LOL..

Unfortunately, that's the way it is... But don't let those posts get you down or discourage you. Some don't answer your question; they simply give you their personal opinion or two cents about why you should eat meat. As a matter of fact, they simply don't care about the poster's question. They care about preaching what…

Montreal in da house! I'm just outside Montreal actually, approx. 35 minutes from the city.

Very well put. I also cut meat out (well, still pescetarian but will eventually transition) and I have never felt better. My family MD actually suggested it since I've struggled with many digestive issues, for many years. At last, I am 90% better and haven't felt this great in years! I also have a hard time with the moral…

^^That's very interesting! Thanx!
