I was at a bar my freshman year of college and there was a dance competition. I got on stage and was dancing. The girl who won ended up flashing the crowd...anyway some big women thanked me in the bathroom saying it was good to have a thick girl up on stage. I must have been in the dark until that moment because I didn't…

Thanks :) I love what I do

Not many parents are as atuned as you are. You should be proud of not just your kids but yourself

P.s. That's why this is my profile picture... USA gold medalist at Athens in the pole vault, Tim Mack :)

Just wait until track and field is on... I can't wait to watch those men and women... My inspiration is not only to look as good and be as fit as they are but to be able to continue my track career...never going to be at that level, but why give up on myself when I have so much more left

How about people asking why you think you need to lose weight... I always give the excuse of I need to be in shape for my sport. Or I can't have my athletes being in better shape than me. WTF. I want to lose weight. Why are we punishing people? It reminds me of an article from MSNBC about how people are in denial with…

A. to reiterate...yes Strength Training will definately help...anything that will help with the elasticity of your skin will...probably a few vitamins out there for that B is for Boobies...I am 26 years old. Have already discussed with the Dr. that if my boobs don't get perkier after kids, I'm getting a boob lift.

If I decide to go to practice, it will be 2 hours of pole vaulting and maybe stopping at the gym on the way back to bike and swim If not, I'm going to do a speed workout on the bike (10 min warm-up, 10 1-min hard 1 min- off, 10 30s hard 30s off, 20 min cool-down), do so leg curls and leg extensions, calf raises, pull ups,…

I was a gymnast and track athlete in high school and track in college...honestly...when the bad cramps hit, I would just hit back harder I always find doing higher intensity helped for some reason...but it had to be larger motor skills rather than the fine motor skills of gymnastics. I would say try running or cardio-ing…

Part of my job some day will be to educate coaches on sport and how it affects children. As a sport psychology consultant, sering egotistical coaches in youth sport irritates me so much. The number one reason kids participate in sport is enjoyment and the number one reason kids leave sport is because it's no longer fun.

Race-walking is an event in a sport....track and field...thats like saying the 400im in swimming is a sport our not a sport

The IOC does some shady things. They took ot those two sports bc of American dominance even though the US softball team didn't win the gold their last year in. What sports are in the Olympics comes down to three things....history, money, politics
-
Pequa :) but the everlasting student in me spends the majority of the year in ma
-
Actually in 2016, rugby and golf will be added. The sports that are, have been, and will be included in the olympics are ever changing and based on the IOC and other things. Hence why baseball and softball were pulled but may be added back in time
-
the IOC organization is one of the most corrupt, sexist, anti-semetic, racist, ableist, elitist, etc organizations I have ever seen. And that also includes past USOC officials. The athletes may be in it for the love of the game and to make some money to bring home, but the people at the top, there's a lot of shady…

Wolf ... no wonder why I like the warewolves in those vampire movies and tv shows

We are also missing the vestal virgins of the ancient games. Actually there were many different games all grouped under the name of the Panhellenic Games. Each was to honor a different god in a different part of Greece.

naked wrestling :)

As I've said a few times on this thread...if he was educated about what he was arguing and not just stereotyping and prejudicial, yeah...he may have had a point. but he didn't. And no one wants to agree with a crazy-pants who looks like a meat-head (sorry OP). The connotations that were stated around what he said were…

my boyfriend and I get the popcorn...but that's also dinner...and it is refillable...so we get it also, in terms of cost...Costco sells movie theater tickets :)

the cheerleading I did in college (DI, as well) was not a sport. some of the girls and guys that do competitive, I could give it to them

art and poetry and essay writing used to be in from 1896 to 1948

@tsh0ck You said it perfectly. mainstream sports. there are stigmas and stereotypes and discriminations surrounding many of the sports that are not mainstreamed. If the OP had more respect for the less mainstreamed sports I wonder if he would make the same horrendous statement.

This is the controversy of judging. They take deductions off of what they "felt you earned" used to be MUCH more often. Have you ever seen Stick It? That movie was honestly out at the perfect time for gymnastics. It showed that judges do just that...judge...and not in the good way but in an arbitrary and discriminative…
-
they do have scoring systems. for gymnastics it was revamped around 2003, 2004. I don't know what the scoring is for the others, but there have been many controversies about figure skating. They are changing it to be not guestimations or arbitrary assumptions. Don't point your toes? Don't hit handstand? Hit a certain…

depends on where you get your definition. which is part of the problem. Track is a team sport. The team score is dependent on individual performances. PLUS there are relays that include 4 people. That's a team. Isn't NASCAR a team sport as well? they have a team of people to help them? (I'm ignorant of NASCAR I will…

Actually, golf will be at Rio in 2016. Baseball and Softball were taken out. Nothing replaced them for 2012. Rugby and golf are in for 2016.
-
If it was a discussion I may be able to agree that the judging is flawed and needs to be changed to allow for it to make less of an impact. But yes. There is discrimination and prejudices that go into these SPORTS that have been addressed (gymnastics is no longer out of 10). If this was an educated discussion, I could…

You can put them on salads too

I am addicted as well...they don't stay in my house for too long... I never thought about pickling my own cucumbers. We have a garden out back and the cucs are soo much better fresh...I wonder what the pickles would be like :)
