  • I usually plan out my day in advance (more or less), but often adjust my plan. Sometimes I am not in the mood for the dinner I picked at 8 am. :) For little snacks, I log after I eat. I'm usually updating as the day progresses-- "I ate less of that than I expected, more of this than I expected", etc.
  • I'm around 5'3" (I lie to myself and say 5'4" though) CW: 155.5 No-longer-overweight-goal-weight: 144 UGW: unicorn I can't imagine my body not being the size it's at, seeing as I've been between the 140s and 160s my entire teenaged and then adult life. I think I'll know when I'm at my UGW (if I ever get there) just by…
  • Thank you for putting it this way! Every time I've failed at dieting/eating right has been because of disillusionment with a weight plateau (that, or brownies). Or me expecting to lose 3 pounds a week, and being frustrated when I lose zero or 1 pound a week. Side note, I have no idea what those numbers on your scale mean.
  • my brother used to do wrestling and had to lose weight before weigh-ins to stay in his category. He would exercise with heavy clothes on and a garbage bag underneath his shirt (weird, but it was to sweat more) and not drink water. It's not healthy, though. You could try a juice fast or something. Try restricting more than…
  • I wanted to like it, because I love Disney, musicals, cartoons, and female-driven stories. It seemed like it'd be exactly my kind of movie. But first of all, I agree it was WAAYYY overhyped; secondly, articles like this:…
  • This is really helpful! Thanks!!
  • I don't like eating a ton of animal products, which I find I have to do in order to hit my 30%.
  • Gotta agree with you about Frozen; when Elsa turned into Glitter Barbie or whatever I was less than impressed (I actually just really hated the character designs; they all looked like Bratz dolls). I will say I LOVE LOVE LOVED Brave, but the fervor of my ardor puts me in the vast minority. I'm a sucker for mother-daughter…
  • What I would do if I had a particular problem food would be to give it up completely for three weeks. Get my brain un-used to having it frequently, and then reintegrate it in moderated amounts after the three weeks. That way, you'll have learned to say no to the food in question, but can also have it on occasion.
  • WELL, it's still sexist and insulting to the woman. Being hired because you're attractive is demeaning, and like I said, opens the door to potential sexual harrassment. Also, it's pretty common knowledge that being an attractive man also gets you hired. Generally, being well-dressed and being fit (no matter your gender)…
  • I think the takeaway here should be that this friend of yours is sexist. Assuming a woman got hired because she's "eye candy"? How is THAT not sexist? Reducing women to objects and reducing their achievements so flippantly is just... erhhghg. And how does he know her exact qualifications, anyway? Finally, a lot of the…
  • I seriously want the Magikarp one. One day I will be a beautiful Gyarados...
  • No lie, this song is great for motivation. I had my Songza app on while I was running (listening to the Trans Am Rock station, one of my faves) and Bohemian Rhapsody came on and it was like I suddenly had a Super Star from Mario. SO MUCH JOY!! Another great jam that I'm sure no one here knows is Micro University by Of…
  • Everyone's covered the big tips, so I'd say: vary what you eat, and have fun with your meals. Cook new things, try new, weird, potentially gross vegetables. Expand your horizons!
  • Netflix is helping TV shows, in a way. I read somewhere that Breaking Bad's viewership skyrocketed when Netflix added the show, because people were binge-watching and then caught up for new seasons, which they watched live. Netflix gives an entry point for new viewers. As for its original programming, well, that's a…
  • For your height, you're at a good weight-- a 23.5 BMI. So losing weight is going to be a slow process. It will probably take you quite a few months to lose what you want, because you're already slender. You feel it in your body, but not on the scale? That's what's important. You know what everyone says-- muscle weighs more…
  • I view it as a goal to aspire to, although I tend to ignore my sugar because 90% of my sugar (except for today, cough) usually comes from fruits and vegetables. Mainly I try to focus on hitting 20% protein (on the pie-chart thing, which is a chart of your macros) and the carbs + fat tend to just naturally hit around the…
  • This is definitely a good point. There are paleos, vegans, carnivores, and people who eat fast food every day on MFP. The app/site is merely a way of keeping track of what you've eaten. You can manually adjust your calorie requirements, you can keep track of what nutrients and vitamins you're getting... honestly, the fact…
  • It's all on Netflix!! 8 whole seasons!!!! Once I'm caught up with Supernatural, next on my list are Attack on Titan and Sherlock. :) Although my boyfriend keeps trying to get me to watch LOST...
  • I went to NY Comic Con this year and it was just... overwhelming. YIKES. Too many people!!! Although the cosplay was fantastic, and I had an in-depth conversation with Billy West. I actually have a table at a few upcoming conventions; I make comics and I'm going to be trying to sell my comic to the unsuspecting public.…
  • wow, you just described my life!!!
  • I hate to be the girl who's always harping on how AMAZING AND WONDERFUL Supernatural is, but, holy crap, I am insanely in love with that show. AGH. Maybe it's because I love magic, demons, and beautiful sad men. And what a beautiful sad man he is.
  • I bet he was "negging" you, which is a pick up artist trick to lower women's self esteem. Sounds too calculated. Seriously, what an *kitten*. God, you're at like, my super daydream goal weight, and I'm 2" shorter than you. You are definitely fine where you are, and you'll look fine at 125 too.
  • Maybe teach her a few recipes, make cooking a bonding experience... that way she's equipped with the tools to cook healthy food. Also, cooking is fun :) Don't buy boxes of mac n cheese, or packages of ramen. If you don't think your daughter will want to embrace her culinary side, maybe make extra food on nights you DO…
  • I'm giving myself a free pass. Making brownies with my boyfriend; I wanna enjoy them :D.
  • ISTJ You have moderate preference of Introversion over Extraversion (56%) You have distinctive preference of Sensing over Intuition (62%) You have marginal or no preference of Thinking over Feeling (1%) You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (22%) Well, I do hate breaking the rules or deviating from "the…
  • First of all, the time it takes to type the three letters that comprise "WTG" is very insignificant. I lead a very engaging, exciting life of watching Netflix, but I still take a few minutes to scroll through my feed and "like" and comment on my pals' statuses. You can get good meal ideas if people's diaries are open, or…
  • Same here. It's not an exact science!!! Especially if you don't have a HRM for exercise. Or if you eat an Oreo so quickly it doesn't register in your brain and you forget to log it.
  • I'd say log it in the previous week. Mentally, it can be kind of discouraging to see your stats all messed up from a binge. This way you can start the week with a clean slate and not feel guilty about not logging the bingefest. Make sure you're eating enough, and try to recognize the signs of when you're in the middle of a…
