A heart rate monitor is really the most accurate way to know the calorie burn you have at the gym. Yes the machines DO overestimate the calories. RunKeeper is good. I also have Runtastic on my phone and it syncs with MFP so when I walk or run it automatically logs it on my exercise for the day. It tracks your route, time, avg. pace/speed, etc.

I can't wait for the day when I can BELIEVE the new clothes in my closet actually fit me. I tried them all on before I bought them... but i still look at them in the closet and think - that will not fit... look how small that is...- and i pick something baggy to wear. My mind needs to catch up and catch up soon!

There is a C25K (couch to 5k) app you can do. It starts with walking / run intervals. I did my first 5k last year with run and walking and since then I have done about 5 others. I still run/walk them because other friends or coworkers have been doing them also and we go together. It is tons of fun! Good Luck!

I am 5'4 and have lost over 50 pounds and I will be 51 yrs old tomorrow. It has taken me about a year or so once I decided to really work at it. i watch my portions, try to make better choices, and workout 5-6 days a week. starting weight was 247 current is 182 .. see my profile pic.
