  • For me, it's the consistent increased natural energy, feeling lighter on my feet, making better food choices on the weekends, having better workouts= all leading me to reaching my weight/fitness goals. And overall increased confidence that I'm doing something better for my overall health.
  • I find a few things helpful: - if you want to reduce people asking you why you aren't drinking, choose something like club soda and a lime to have in your hand. - when engaging in conversation with people, make it about them. People love to talk about themselves so ask them what's going on in their lives lately, anything…
  • Day 10 and doing great! I had my first weigh-in this morning and I am down 2 pounds :) Kicking butt, feeling energized and more confident. This weekend I have two holiday parties to go to (when will the festivities end?) and both will be full of big drinkers, whom are also used to seeing me partake. So I'm mentally…
  • I'm not doing this for fun, per se. But for my health and goals. Personally I had developed a weekly habit of grabbing a bottle of wine to watch movies with my husband every Friday/Saturday night. That wine was empty calories, which led to eating excess carbs mindlessly, which led to less energy the next day. Ultimately…
  • First weekend in the books and successful. One thing I did catch myself doing is rewarding myself with extra treats/processed carbs late at night because "well at least I've cut out wine". So I need to be more conscious of that because I don't want to gain weight during this process lol
  • Not great. It's taking me forever to fall asleep each night without wine, usually up until 11:30pm now and then my alarm goes off at 4:30am. I'm hoping my body gets used to this and I can fall asleep easier soon
  • So far the weekend hasn't been so hard (surprisingly). The flavored sparkling waters are helping alot. And waking up with more energy and clarity in the morning is super nice lol Hope everyone is doing well!
  • Is everyone ready to tackle the weekend alcohol free?!? Weekends (especially Friday nights and Saturday nights) are the extreme test for me as I've gotten myself into such a habit of not sitting down on the couch to a show/movie without my red wine in my hand. It's embarrassing to admit this, but it's probably been more…
  • I downloaded the Naked Mind on my Audible app to listen to in the car during my commute, I'm about 5 chapters in and so far I like it! Thanks for the recommendation!
  • I'm so in! After all of the wine from Christmas Eve to now, have never felt more bloated, sluggish, and overall just crappy and not proud of myself. My biggest downfall is wanting wine at night when I'm watching movies with my husband. I'm going to try to swap it out for different flavored sparkling waters. Wish me luck!…
  • this REALLY hit home for me. During the week, while I'm at work I'm all "I'm not drinking this weekend, want to lose weight, I want to have more energy, alcohol does not serve these goals".... and then next thing I know after doing my evening commute I'm swinging through the liquor store for my wine etc because "I've had a…
  • I've been adding like a half bag of thinly shredded cabbage into most meals and it fills me up for so little calories and keeps me full! I add it to stirfrys, salads, etc. Love it!
  • I had my wine this weekend while watching scary movies with the family. But I definitely cut back on my intake and stuck to healthy foods all weekend. Baby steps :)
  • My favorite part of this thread is knowing that I'm not alone to fighting (and often times failing) with these temptations. As I've said before, for myself, I think it's mostly an issue of habit and association (Netflix + wine, Bonfire + wine, Dark Chocolate + wine, Bad week at work + wine ) lol I need to get better at…
  • I forgot yesterday was the start of October, and I had two Grapefruit Shandys lol oh boy But today until Halloween, I'm in!
  • I'm so in! I blew September :( I think I was only good for like 1 weekend. Ughh. But I want to be confident in myself and my body, and definitely by Halloween. So maybe Sober October will be better for me. *Fingers crossed!*
  • I suck, I suck, I suck :s I had too much wine with my family Friday night, and then had a few beers Saturday and Sunday night. Ugh why are weekends so hard?! Damn this routine and cravings! Ok I'm done whining. Time to get stronger.
  • Checking in! I was successful last Friday, I sipped on my sparkling water and went to bed after watching Netflix. Saturday night was my planned wine drinking night for mine and my husband's 1st wedding anniversary dinner at a fancy restaurant known for their wines... but then I bought a bottle on the way home. Sunday,…
  • Ok today is Friday! The start of when things get hard for me to resist each weekend. But I'm optimistic :) A few notes: -I plan on getting flavored sparkling waters tonight to sip on during our "movie & treat night" tonight, instead of killing a bottle of wine like I typically do while perusing Netflix. -I came across "The…
  • I would love to join! I have a terrible habit of drinking a bottle of wine to myself every Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday. Somehow I've fallen into this habit where any time that my husband and I are sitting down to catch up on our TV shows or watch a movie I MUST have a glass of red wine in my hand and some sort…
  • I'm struggling with the same thing. I don't drink during the week (Monday thru Thursday) and I feel completely fine without it. Then BAM Friday night rolls around and I'm craving red wine while I watch movies with my husband. Sure one glass won't hurt, but it easily gets to 3 glasses then I'm looking for dark chocolate or…
  • Unpopular opinions: 1. You are overweight due to genetics.... And I'm not talking about genetics diseases here, but when a person tells me "I'm fat because my parents are fat".... that's a lack of effort and responsibility. You're overweight because of your caloric intake, not because of the two people that gave you life.…
  • No matter what, I ALWAYS set my protein grams to 1g per pound, so for me that's 130g - 134g of protein per day, then about 54g of fat, and carbs range from 120 - 160g depending on my goals and how my body is reacting. And I've always been able to see the results I want with my protein set that way and then my carbs and…
  • Most days I eat back my exercise calories and I still lose weight. HOWEVER, I strongly urge you to invest in a heart rate monitor if you don't already have one. Once I got my Polar heart rate monitor, I saw what I was ACTUALLY burning, which was about half of what the machines will tell you that you burned. Once I had a…
  • Every morning I eat basically the same thing, but it keeps me full until lunch time: 1/2 cups of oats cooked with cinnamon and honey (and/or chopped strawberries or bananas), & 4 egg whites on the side -or- A Green Breakfast Smoothie: 1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk (or soy) 1 cup frozen banana slices 1 tbsp of…

  • I just got a phone call from my doctor's office, I'm 40 weeks and 4 days, and they have me scheduled to come in on Thursday morning to get gel on my cervix, then Friday at 5am to start the pitocin if the gel doesn't kick start me into labor. I AM SO NERVOUS!
  • Just checking in... still here!! 40 weeks, 4 days... miserable as hell lol I was supposed to be scheduled for an induction this Friday, however, they were unable to find me a bed. So now the doctor's office is trying to find me a spot for Monday the 17th, however I have not received a phone call confirming if they can fit…
