Hello everyone. I'm new to this group. I am hoping to become motivated to make some healthy changes in my life and try to focus on me for a change. I am a nurse, mother, grandmother. I just became an empty nester a few months ago when my oldest son moved out and bought a house. So for the first time ever I live alone (well…

I am in the same boat. I was on here in 2011- 2012. Back again and here to stay.

After cancer treatment and a divorce, both of which tried to kill me, i have become a huge fan of buti yoga. It feels like it helps my body and my soul.

I want to lose ten pounds by the end of May and ten more by August. I would love some friends to inspire and encourage me!

I am 51 and have been working out more for the past five years. I lost 22 pounds a few yrs ago and kept it off without any trouble until now. I am halfway through four chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer. I had surgery in December and will have surgery again after chemo. I am recovered from surgery and able to…

Avocados are awesome for you! High is MUFAs. Just measure what you eat and log your calories.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I have struggled with my weight since the age of 13. It is interesting how being overweight, depression, and for some of us, drinking alcohol, can all impact one another. I have been successful in taking off some weight and keeping it off for two years. I am a health care…

I use creamers, milk, or soy milk and stevia and other sweeteners. I log them. They do not usually count for much in the way of calories if you used them in moderation:)

It works, even in your late 40s. I am 49. I gained 20 pounds in nursing school almost 20 years ago. After the birth of my youngest two children in my 30s I gained another 10. In my forties I gradually gained 20 more. 2 years ago I took a night shift job and discovered that I was never hungry at night. Been a day shifter…

I am looking for friends for motivation!:)

My weekly goal for this week is to stay under my calorie goal,do some sort of workout, and drink water each day. I am also committing to doing at least 20 minutes of yoga each day, even on my busy, crazy days.

Mine has consistently been 150/90 - 150/100 for two weeks:( I was still working out in the past few months, just not as much. I eat a fairly good diet normally and am not into fast food at all but I do like salty things so I am trying to avoid salt. There are studies that suggest moderate drinking can actually lower BP.…

I only lost 28 pounds last year but I am still warm more than cold. I have always tended to be a warm person though. Did your dr check your thyroid?

See if you can go back to physical therapy for a few sessions. They can help you figure out the best way to tone and strengthen your arms with less risk of injury. They are trained for this and we are not. With your history you need a professional to help you get started.

Lowfat diets were the thing 15 or 20 years ago. Fat makes you feel satiated and your body needs healthy fats. I think limiting overall caloric intake is considered a healthier way to lose.
-
All very true. I have lost weight very slowly, averaging 3- 4 pounds a month, but I have gone down 4 sizes in clothing, and lost inches by working out. My body feels different. I am more muscular than I have ever been. I can lift more weight and do more physically than ever before. And at 3-4 pounds a month, I have still…

By the way sugar intake is not the key thing you track if you are diabetic anyway. It is carbs.
-
I don't track sugar. It doesn't seem to matter. I am losing weight so who cares? I am more interested in my carb/ protein and fiber intake. I think that is what matters. Everything is turned to sugar by your body anyway.

First of all his dr needs to know. I would keep pushing fluids and try something with electrolytes like gatoraid. You could also try frozen treats like popsicles and ice cream. It is possible that he needs IV fluids. Sound like he has internal blisters . So sorry he is so sick. None of my kids had the chickenpox vaccine.…
