  • I love running outside in the heat, can't run in the cold as my throat and lungs really hurt. I stick on my baseball cap and sunnies, strap on my 3 litre camelbak, crank up the music (I'm in the Southern Hemisphere so have the Christmas tunes on at the moment) and walk / trot for miles in the sun. I love coming back home…
  • It makes me really sad when I read that people are avoiding going to social occasions because of their "diet". That is NOT a healthy mindset. Life happens, sometimes we over indulge and sometimes we are right on track. It was my husband's work party last Friday, it was fab, I had roast lamb, roast pork (with crackling),…
  • Just a suggestion to add to all the great ones there have been so far... make your dog your best friend, take him / her for lots of lovely walks, long ones, short ones, whatever you have time for. Walking is great exercise and you can pick up speed and length as you feel yourself losing weight and getting fitter. I've seen…
  • Is this really true? Genuinely curious. The reason I'm asking is I do a 10km fixed route once a week, sometimes I walk it, sometimes I trot bits of it and if I go faster I burn more calories according to my HRM. Maybe it's because it's very hilly, would that make a difference?
  • What, pray tell, is "bad" about bacon or bread? That's the makings of a bacon butty and they are "GOOD"!!
  • I'm much faster INSIDE, but that's probably because I live in a really hilly place, so actually there are no flat places to compare an average speed on similar ground.
  • I make up a scrambled egg mix, then in muffin tins I pop a bit of feta / grated cheese (or a dollop of low-fat cream cheese if I'm low on calories) and a few pieces of bacon / ham / chicken / broccoli or whatever leftovers I have, top up the case with the scrambled egg mix and pop in the oven for approx 20 mins until they…
  • Really only you can answer that as there will be so many opinions on a public forum. If YOU think it would look good on YOU, then go for it. If you are going to be thinking "Do I look okay or do I look trashy?" all the time if you have it done then I wouldn't bother, you need confidence to get your belly out, especially if…
  • Get your kids to help you by getting them to dump any leftovers.

  • The roads where I live are really hilly and uneven and gravelly, I LOVE the treadmill. I like to listen to loud music, stare at the blank wall in front of me, zone out and do my thinking... without worrying of I'm going to slip on gravel or twist my ankle in a pot hole! :D
  • Not unless you want to spend Christmas in bed, burnt out... unrealistic and impossible to safely obtain. If you work hard, you could lose 3-6. But even 6 is rather optimistic for your height and current weight.
  • Despite you getting cross at people who say it - the ONLY answer is to see a doctor. Googling and asking for advice from total strangers on the internet is dangerous and could cause you to end up in a wheelchair. Without proper examination and just going ahead and doing what someone suggests, could actually be aggravating…

  • Aw, don't give up, you're married, you're a team, be happy for him. His success is your success. I'd be sad if my spouse wasn't happy for me! Oh yeah, and do remember like others have said, men do tend to lose faster than woman, you'll both get there in the end!
  • Your body clock is still screwed up, unless the night classes are literally in the middle of the night, you need to be teaching your mind and body that day time is for being awake and night time is for sleeping. You need to teach yourself a routine, just like you would with a baby. Get up at the same time every day, do…
  • From what I'm reading it seems like you spend just about the entire day and night in bed, trying to sleep. That is not going to help, at all. Do you work, if so what hours? If not, take at least a week and do this -Get out of bed at say 7am, stay out of bed until at least say 9pm, no matter how tired you feel. Be active,…
  • Well aren't you lucky to be so wise? Mr Gloaty-McGloaty-Pants! Glad you find other people who aren't so wise to be so funny... Such a shame we aren't all so marvellous, I'm sure the world would be such a better place if we were all as clever as you!
  • I think that MFP automatically changes certain words to "kitten"...
  • Eating too much... I love food and when I was younger I could get away with it, now I'm in my mid-forties, not so much, haha.
  • 1. Monitor what you eat - Yes, weigh and measure everything, have patience it may take some time. 2. Eat only really healthy foods - Absolutely NOT, eat everything you enjoy in moderation, see 1.
  • There's part of your problem right there... Keep doing what you are doing and give yourself a couple of months of letting your meds settle and the scales to start moving. If they still don't move, re-evaluate then. All the best.
  • It won't. Grow up and decide which you want more, to lose weight or to stay unhappy (which I am presuming you are if you are posting on here, if not, carry on...). Do you work? Do you love it so much you'd do it for free? I doubt it. Same principal.
  • Sometimes I make what I like, and they have to eat it, sometimes I make what they like and I have to eat it (but maybe a smaller portion or more veg, less potato/rice/pasta). I'm afraid in my house, I make dinner. If you don't like it don't eat it. Full Stop. The only thing that is negotiable is mushrooms, haha. My 8 year…
  • A raw carrot does it for me... As someone said, different things satisfy different people. I found out by accident that a raw carrot fills me up when I was cutting some up for my daughters lunch box and just did more for me and then several hours realised I still wasn't hungry. :D Now it's my go-to fridge nibble!
  • You could put a piece of pre-weighed tinfoil in the bottom of the tray to catch the dripping fat and then just weigh that after. Might be easier than weighing the whole pan which may be much bigger than the scale. Also saves on washing up the tray... ;)
  • Probably just fine and enjoying their food. Do you know what they eat for the rest of the day? Do you know how much exercise they do? I eat all sorts of junk food on occasion, I'm sure you'd be horrified if you saw me sometimes, and I'm losing weight just fine and am very healthy, thank you very much, Mr…
  • Short answer - Whatever your size on the day, you WILL look beautiful if you stand up straight and smile but YES, they can alter the dress nearer the date... Good luck to you.
  • Think about yourself in the third person for a moment. You're a chef, you have food skills, if you had a friend who loved sugary foods but was overweight that came to live with you and begged you for help, what would you cook for them? Something that tasted good but ticked all the boxes for healthiness. I am sure you could…
  • It CANNOT be the pills, unless it's a dodgy batch of something entirely different, you're allergic to one of the ingredients or you don't have hypothyroidism... Honest!! That's the whole point of them, to correct an imbalance that can be the cause of weight gain... You also haven't given us your stats, how much more weight…
  • Do NOT stop taking your Levo, that is NOT what is causing your weight gain. As Drawoc said, one of the side effects of hypothyroidism is weight gain, Levo counteracts that by getting your levels back on track. If you can HONESTLY say (to yourself) that you are weighing and measuring everything that goes into your mouth and…
