  • I'm in Richmond. I've been around the Hawkesbury/Nepean area now for around 15 years. I was actually born at Penrith, but went rural until my late teens. So far I've been to several different gyms - Fernwood at Penrith, then the same chain at Blacktown (a friend buddied up with me from Seven Hills). Eventually I moved to…
  • I tried hard to cut out generic or supermarket brands, but haven't had much success considering S/O and the Kids actually like those products better than the higher branded ones. We spend huge $$$ (IMO anywho) for a family of two adults and two children. But I bop Hubby over the head in order to contribute to the things…
  • I use bars and shakes. The shakes not so much lately though, as I use the bars for snacks, and the shakes for post-workout (not exercising at the moment for med reasons). But I can't wait to get back into it, and hopefully next week. I started buying this when I was Vegan, but decided to stick with it when I introduced…
  • I've been a member with four different gyms so far. Fernwood was my first and longest in the Western Sydney area. The first two were both Fernwood franchises. I only moved to another one so I could be closer to work. But both had fantastic services, and I lost the weight I needed to lose which was brilliant. I tried most…
  • Hi everyone :) Richmond, NSW here and getting ready to move to Port Macquarie over the next few months. Nice to meet you all!
  • Yep, same here. I'm 5'1 and weight around 113 at the moment. These calories I have now are sustainable to keep it where it is. If I wanted to reduce further I would have to change around the ratios of fat v carb and protein; not necessarily reduce the calorie amount again.
  • For me it depends on what I eat rather than how much. I aim for between 1200-1400 calories a day and have been eating this way for two years. It has become habitual. During the day I get told I eat like a hummingbird, but during the night I eat a meal equivalent for two people. Saying that, it depends on what I put on my…
  • For me it depends on the face shape and body type. I think it looks good on a lot of people, but others it just doesn't. I had my hair cut pixie style for charity (it was a choice of shaving or cutting it short). I was willing to go full hog and go bald lmao. But I have sun sensitivity issues with my skin so had it cut…
  • For me it depends on the day. On days I work I usually eat 3 meals and one snack in the morning. I don't have time to eat in the afternoon while on the job, so generally miss it. Days I don't work I aim for 3 meals and two snacks, but that will depend on how many calories I eat at each meal. I am one of those people that…
  • I would say it depends on the person and their body + what works for them. When I first lost my 40lb I stuck to 1200 calories and lost 35 of it before I hit a plateau. The weight never bounced back on and my body never went into starvation mode. Nowadays though, that is totally different. In order to maintain my weight at…
  • I do have cheat days, and it is usually one day between Fridays and Sundays. I just have to pick which one it might be. Saying that, I don't "always" allocate one day each week to having something calorie free. After being on calorie control for 8 months my body started to recognise when I was going to "let go" and eat…
  • Hi! I used to be Vegan, but have gone back to Omnivorous eating. I only eat meat a certain amount of times per week. The rest I stick in extra vegetables, seitan, bean curds or mock meats. My sister is also a member of this site and has been Vegan for 3 years, Vegetarian for 2 years before that. She has done courses in…
  • I think it is great that your health has improved dramatically, but I have to agree with the previous posters. I used to be Vegan and I've seen many people thrive on a whole plant based diet regardless of what type they were. My Mother is O-, but I'm not sure about my sister. Both of them are also Vegan and if they stuck…
  • Very true! At the same time tt has been hard trying to get the right information I will admit. Through the local Pituitary Network (PNA) there doesn't seem to be a general consensus amongst practitioners about what exactly is correct and what isn't. A few of the local Support Members have been suggested to do weight…
  • Hi everyone. It is nice to see so many Aussie faces :) Sydney here if you would like to add!
  • Hi Sharon, lovely to meet you :) I wish you all the best with myfitnesspal and hope you find some wonderful support in here. I was having some problems keeping weight on for a while after the radiation. When I put the weight on again, I thought that it had been to do with a change of my diet (as I used to be Vegan and went…
  • This happened to me when I got to my smallest. I was receiving radiation for pre-cancer, then afterwards lost nearly 10lb by accident. I was told by my Dr. to up my calories slightly so I could "slowly" put on weight, but I had so much of a problem not being able to hold down food properly that I knew I wasn't getting my…
  • I wouldn't say that losing the weight has made me "happier". I would say on the other hand, that there is a little peace of mind knowing that I'm doing the best I can though in order to keep my health in order. At the moment I have been suffering through severe physical and emotional stress which has nothing to do with…
  • It is a bit graphic, but not as bad as some other documentaries I've seen. Earthlings would be one you wouldn't want to see if you can't handle gore at all. Saying that, it was a good doco and very informative. It gives a total rundown/breakdown of the food industry and how the fast food chains have uniformed/shaped the…
  • From what I'm told it is best to change both your exercise and food routine at least once every 8-12 weeks. I started losing weight in late 2009 and by early 2010 had lost around 35lb. Once I hit around the 130lb range my weight became "stuck" and I couldn't lose anymore even though I was eating fantastic and doing large…
