  • Welcome! I'm a type 1 diabetic and used to work as a diabetes educator before I quit to stay home with my baby full-time. Receiving that diagnosis is scary and overwhelming. I hope you are finding lots of support here. Just stick with it…good luck! :)
  • Hey Morgan! Wow, that's awesome! I agree, everyone is different and we just have to figure out what works best for us!
  • I'm also a Katie from Arkansas  I am so glad to find people with similar goals. I was doing great on about 1,200 calories last fall but kept hearing "you need to eat more!" Unfortunately, I listened and have gained back about half of what I lost on 1,200 calories. I tried the whole eat more to weigh less and eating…
  • Is it too late to jump on board? SW: 169 CW: 160 GW: 140
  • Hey I am doing a 10k in March and started about the same place as you. I have been doing a program called 10K Runner. It is an app I have on my phone and I love it! It is 14 weeks. I started it back in October so I would have time to repeat some of the tougher weeks if needed. It helps so much having a program to follow…
  • Hey Lexy! I'm aiming for about 1,300 net calories too! I am always looking for new dinner ideas to keep it interesting. My favorite source is http://www.skinnytaste.com She has tons of awesome recipes and gives you all the nutritional info. Even my husband who doesn't like "diet" food loves everything I have made off of…
  • Hey I would love to join y'all! June 11th is my 1 year anniversary! :) The week before our anniversary we are going back to the beach where we got married so I would definitely love to be slimmer and healthier by then. I did really well with MFP ,until the holidays, but I am back! SW: 169 CW: 157 GW: 140
  • Congrats- you look great! Thank you for sharing!
  • I usually make a lasagna-like dish with spaghetti squash. I take the squash, cut it in half and roast it in the oven (at 360F for ~30-40 min) with olive oil and garlic until its golden and tender. Then use a fork to remove from the shell and place it in a 9x13 top with cheese mixture then sauce then additional cheese. Bake…
  • I love Kroger brand Carbmaster yogurt- right now my favorite flavor is the carrot cake mixed with a dash of cinnamon...mmmm I also snack on cheese sticks, fruit, 100 calorie almonds packs (especially the cocoa ones) and if I want a savory snack I mix cottage cheese with a bit of low-fat sour cream and dry ranch mix for a…
  • I love cottage cheese...I hadn't thought of mixing it with some apple or pumpkin butter- yum! Sometimes when I want a savory snack I'll mix a few tablespoons of cottage cheese with just a bit of low-fat sour cream and some dry ranch dressing mix for a high protein dip for raw veggies.
  • I love nuts and nut butters! They are a good source of healthy fat and protein and also low-carb which really helps keep my blood sugar stable but...a little goes a long way! :) Since they are so calorically dense I really have to watch myself to keep my portions in check. I found some 100 calorie packs at Wal-Mart which I…
  • There are so many options with diet soda cake/cupcake recipes. I usually make mine into a 9x13 cake but love the idea of using mini muffin tins. I love devil's food and coke zero/diet coke but you could make...lemon cake and sprite....orange cake and orange soda...pineapple cake and sprite...carrot cake and cream soda it…
  • I'll add you! More friends = more accountability!
  • Wow that's great! Thanks for sharing! I'm currently on day 17 of 30 DS so this definitely motivates me to stick with it. I measured before starting and plan to measure at the end too but can already tell a difference in my hips. You're right it's all about those small changes that overtime lead to big changes!

  • Welcome to MFP! I think we need to start a type 1 group because it is so encouraging to visit with other type 1's as I don't know many in "real life" lol. I tried Symlin a couple of times but I had a really hard time getting just the right bolus calculation. I would end up with severe lows and highs (like 30 to 300) but I…

  • Hey! I'm a type 1, too feel free to add me! It is hard enough trying to lose weight, but add insulin and blood sugar swings and it sometimes feels impossible! Hopefully we can encourage each other- I always need accountability!
