About a month ago, while in the ER, I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. With having no insurance, and no doctor it has been an interesting month. Within a week I had multiple apps, and read lord knows how many websites researching about my new found journey. Been an emotional roller coaster to be honest. Lifestyle change, 4 blood tests a day, 2 shots a day, COST!!!! But learning and coping.
So I'm 5'5, now thanks to insulin I weigh 110. (Went into ER at 100) Still have quite a bit of weight to gain to get back to normal. Yeah I know, most of you hate me for being skinny, sorry.
So yeah that's my story. Sure I'll see a few of you on the boards. Have a good one.

Welcome! I'm a type 1 diabetic and used to work as a diabetes educator before I quit to stay home with my baby full-time. Receiving that diagnosis is scary and overwhelming. I hope you are finding lots of support here. Just stick with it…good luck!0

Hi! Recently diagnosed Type 2 too. I'm having to lose weight to try to control it without meds. Struggling with changing old habits and just going through the learning process now. Best of luck to you.0

Thank you alikat517. Yeah it can be overwhelming. Thought I had my mind wrapped around it, but past few days has been a lil rough. Reading peoples posts has been very supportive.
pjhankin, changing the old habits can be rough, but can also change your life in such good ways. There is actually a seminar that is going to go on in my area that will discuss living with type 2, without insulin. The community seems to be huge, and very helpful so you may want to search your area for something similar. More knowledge never never hurts. Stay strong and carry on.0 -
Sorry to hear about your diabetes. I'm recovering from a massive hemorrhagic stroke and two brain surgeries and can relate go fighting to get fit while battling serious medical issues. Anyone is welcome to friend me.0
