don't tell me ... your friend said to FORWARD IT TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!
-
Welcome to MFP! Getting off your butt is the hardest part. Feel free to friend me.
-
I have no beef with what anyone wears, as long as it's presentable! wear your makeup, do your hair, who cares? I feel more comfortable without it, but to each their own.
-
you're burning more calories per minute, but you're also covering more ground, so theoretically it could be the same number of calories for the same distance. but maybe that is too simplistic, like many things in physiology.
-
I go in anyway. who cares? they aren't going to run you out, promise. :)
-
ah, ok. :) Still I am surprised to see such a significant difference between calories for the same distance.
-
just asking because those calories seem high for the distance you're running.
-
I'm happy with the way I look in the gym without makeup.
-
do these calories come from a HRM or from the treadmill?
-
bump
-
amen to both!
-
yep, that's true. You burn more calories *per mile* by walking uncomfortably fast, but it takes longer to cover the distance. If you were going at the exact same speed in both cases, let's say 4 mph, you would burn more calories in the same time period by walking.
-
Technically, he is right about the first. You burn more calories walking at an uncomfortably fast pace than jogging at a slow pace. however, that rule is just stupid. Treadmills are made for running.
-
3-5 pounds. I don't weigh myself at all that week.
-
I stand corrected. You are totally right. Starch still sets off insulin spikes, however, at least in people with insulin resistance. I am one of them, and starch is no good for me. Brown rice is *better*, but for someone like me, no rice is best.
-
Protein shake (get a cheap blender on craigslist, freecycle, or a yard sale). Cottage cheese with fresh fruit (especially berries) and a tablespoon of ground flax seed Greek yogurt (eat LESS of this than the cottage cheese as it is very calorie dense)
-
The majority of the brown rice grain is still made up of starch, which is absolutely a simple carb.
-
I don't eat rice at all, whole grain or not. You can get all of that fiber and more from vegetables for a fraction of the calories.
-
and a sleeve of chips ahoy?
-
There are many, many people here who eat bananas and lose weight just fine. They are not an evil food. You just don't want to eat them in excess, like any other food.
-
Also ... the requirement is 64 ounces of liquids from ANY source, including your food. so you are likely getting more than enough.
-
have you talked to your doc about it?

your body is very good at maintaining the osmotic balance. Yes, eating tons of salt will cause water retention. But the reverse is also true. Drinking an excess of water is also unhealthy. You''re not just flushing out salt, you're also flushing out potassium. as far as your speculation about blood pressure, the article I…
-
agreed! I think the main lesson is, if you DON"T have high blood pressure right now, don't sweat it. Eat the amount of salt that makes you happy.
-
I can related to most of it except the hitting. My parents never struck us and no one else would EVER be allowed.
-
Just to add some science to the discussion: A large-scale study of thousands of European men in 2011 showed that "above-average sodium intake did not appear to up the risk of developing high blood pressure (hypertension) or dying of a heart attack or stroke." In fact, they found that low salt intake INCREASES the risk of…

I second the recommendation to join the PCOS groups here. I would link to mine, except every time I try to link it, it doesn't work. It is PCOS Cysters Losing Together. For me personally, I can't lose without metformin, but there are others on MFP who have lost without medication.

my IBS disappeared completely when I cut out dairy. Turned out I actually have lactose intolerance. I *love* milk and cheese, but the pain relief was worth it. Try substituting soy or almond milk for a few days. They taste better than you might think. And read labels. A lot of baked goods, energy bars, and other foods have…

Blueberry, honey wheat, and orange sounds like the world's yummiest breakfast. :)
