  • Yes, it will. I had lost about 15 pounds when after a check-in it told me I had lost more than 10 lbs. and asked if I would like to reset my goals. Of course, you don't have to wait for it if you don't want to, you can reset the goals any time.

  • Sounds good to me! I'll report back in on Friday.
  • I'm with you on the "Oh, BS" front. And, after a little Googling, found the following: Tim Horton's does not put MSG (or nicotine, btw) in its coffee. (from http://www.snopes.com/food/ingredient/timhortons.asp) The FDA requires that foods with MSG added to it, it must be identified as "monosodium glutamate" in the label's…
  • I went to Jamaica, mon! Back now. . .but afraid to get on the scale! I went knowing that I wasn't going to try any sort of diet at the free-drink, free-food resort. But I DID get to the gym twice, which was better than I expected. The next weigh-in will be a bit of a shocker, I'm sure. So, what's the status of this group?…
  • Chobani Fat Free Greek Yougurt is great (esp. the blueberry IMO). It has 14g of protein, 0 fat, 20g of carbs. 140 calories. It comes in a much bigger cup than most of the FF yogurts out there and has a lot of protein to help you feel full.

  • After losing almost 30 pounds I'm sure your caloric needs have changed, *****Kat. On the other hand, if you're still steadily losing and the metabolism keeps humming then I guess you're good. I think this falls under the "If it ain't broke. . ." rule.
  • And don't forget. . . a half-hour walk will probably get you TWO slices of cheese!
  • I'm a big hummous fan (even if I can't spell it). I like all the flavors, but garlic and roasted red pepper are my favorites. My favorite brand is Sabra. It's so much creamier than most brands, but it's tougher to find, too. I put it on sandwiches instead of mayo, it's also good on rice cakes, or with veggie slices…
  • You need to do low- or no-impact cardio. Think bike, rowing machine, elliptical, etc.
  • I got engaged a week ago. We haven't planned a date yet, but whenever it is I'll definitely weigh less when it happens! Count me in.
  • Nice job, plm! Jumped off the plateau in a big way, it looks like!
  • Way to go! Congratulations.
  • Grr! Hit my first plateau. Very frustrating since I've really gone crazy at the gym in the last week or two. That's what I get for telling arewethereyet she'd need to amputate. Now I've learned my lesson, and I won't even comment or ask about how DB gained 4 inches in her bust in one week. . .I'll just give her a…
  • I went to Subway today and was patting myself on the back for choosing a nice lo-cal, healthy lunch. I had a 6" turkey with the meat double-stacked, and apples on the side. When I got back to the office I went to log my lunch and found that the sandwich had 100% of my allotted sodium for the day. Can't win!
  • First step is done, great job! And seeing how you're over your allotment by noon should make for a good wake-up call. This site is great, and the people are even better. Welcome.

  • I have some friends that swear by "ballerina's tea". It clears them right out. But, frankly, it doesn't sound like too pleasant an experience.
  • It sounds like you do MORE than enough! You don't have to be sore after every workout, but if you feel like it's not doing the job (and I really can't imagine all that doesn't do that job!), or if it's getting boring, then try doing completely different workouts. You have a good mix of cardio and strength training, but…
  • Happens to the best of us. Welcome!
  • Wow. . .it doesn't sound like that adds up to 1200 calories and you're starving yourself. No wonder you're hungry! I would say to make sure you drink lots and lots and lots of water, and also exercise so you can earn more calories and eat more. There's another topic open in which folks are talking about foods that fill…
  • You may also want to switch to a time-release multivitamin. If you're peeing out so much of the vitamin that it give you psychedelic urine than your body isn't absorbing enough of it. . .but give it a week at least to see if your body just needs to get used to it.
  • The argument for eating soon after you wake up is that it gives your metabolism a kickstart that lasts you throughout the day. If you think it about it, this makes sense. When you wake up you've just been lying around for (hopefully) eight hours, so you're not going to be burning very much energy doing that. Getting up and…
  • Great idea! But. . .umm, er. . .can I join in after Valentine's day?
  • Bacon-flavored mayonnaise sounds wrong, but oh so right!

  • Might be time to amputate a leg, arewethereyet. I'm sure you'll get there. . .you're so close! The gym is sure to help, just stick to it.
  • Great week for me! Despite all of the Superbowl cheating I had my best week (since week 1) and lost 3 pounds! Going to the gym regularly has really geared up my loss, I think. And maybe all those chicken wings gave my metabolism a little jump-start (at least that's what I told myself). MFP Start: 280 Jan 7: 274 Jan 14th:…
  • Since the goal on The Biggest Loser is to lose weight then for her intended audience she was right. But muscle definitely weighs more than fat, and if you're losing inches but staying the same weight you're definitely gaining muscle and losing fat (or you've eaten rocks). My mother was a nutritionist, and she had silicone…
  • Certainly! You've probably heard the expression "A pint's a pound the world round". Two cups of water is 16 fluid ounces, and also weighs 16 ounces, or 1 pound. Also, if your scale round to the nearest pound you may have been 143.4 beforehand, but the water you drank pushed you over the mark to 143.5, which would round to…
  • I hadn't heard that, Kerri, but after reading your post I looked around. The Mayo clinic agrees with you. . .here's an excerpt from their site: Longer, less frequent sessions of aerobic exercise have no clear advantage over shorter, more frequent sessions of activity. Any type of aerobic activity contributes to…
