  • @79dawn , hopefully you were able to get past the number on the scale. So much of this journey is really located in our heads. When we can change how we used to think, then can really reflect those changes in our lifestyles. Try weighing yourself every other day. That way you can still see any immediate results from an…
  • Ok, so I need some advice. The family and I are going on vacation this next week, and I don't want to backslide the whole week. We won't have internet access, so I won't be able to log on. I know how to eat healthy, but put me out of my routine, the comfort of knowing what to prepare at home, and I'm nervous I'll blow it…
  • @Cherimoose , yes I've been losing weight, not super fast though. Slow and steady, about 2 lbs a week since March 1. That's when I also started working out, too. I've been just fine up until this week, which is why I have no idea what's going on with me.
  • I've started to feel the same way, every time I exercise this week. But, I haven't changed anything from the last 6-8 weeks previously. It's so weird, I workout, feel just fine, come home and have lunch about an hour later. Almost immediately after having lunch I feel nauseous and end up throwing up. This is sooooo unusual…
  • Today's creation. Quinoa Veggie Salad. Add some fresh veggies; tomatoes, cucumbers, red pepper, and avocado. Top with some chives, toasted garbanzo beans, and juice from a lime. Mix all with come cooked Quinoa, and voila! Delish!
  • @sunnyeuphoria , you are absolutely right! You really have to change your relationship with food if you want a lasting change. Food is not an enemy. Moderation is totally the answer. I also grew up in a home where soda was a special thing saved for reunions, or family vacations-- definitely not a staple. It's been hard to…
  • Leek and cauliflower soup. Cauliflower is pureed to thicken the soup without using cream. Chicken, garlic, basil, leeks added. It was so good, great for a rainy cold night.
  • I made these cucumber sandwiches for lunch for me and the kids. Truthfully though, I ate most of them! :) I used 9 grain whole wheat bread, with a avocado/cream cheese/chive spread, topped with cucumbers and dill.
  • Try to eat less processed foods, they are always higher in sodium. Prepackaged, canned, fast food, etc. Eat more natural foods, and yes drink lots of water. Lots and lots! But, no it doesn't affect your requirements when you log water.
  • Reached another goal of 30 lbs lost, so I decided to celebrate and get my hair done. Thanks to a wonderful friend who helped me be bold, I went from blonde to RED! To help remind me of my progress every time I look in the mirror. @shirayne @MischelM Those are fabulous ideas to realize how much I've lost. I'm gonna try that
  • Today was weigh in day for me and I've finally lost 10% of my body weight--that was my first goal! I'm still a long way off from being done, but it sure helps to have a great day to motivate you to journey on! @Jeanine_Colavecchi , I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and have been battling the symptoms a LONG time!
  • There's totally a difference, way to go. It's funny where the weight starts coming off first. You really can't know what area of you body is going to slim down the fastest! Keep it up
  • I feel the same way! I knew it was something I needed to give up though, for many reasons. After many unsuccessful tries, I'm doing it again. Drank my last one last Thursday. Had a KILLER weekend of headaches, but I'm finally starting to feel better. Do I still crave it? YES! But, I just gotta keep going one day at a time…
  • I am thrilled to report that I finally lost my first 20 lbs! I still have a long road ahead, but I'll just start working on my next 20. One of my mini goals is to be able to go hiking with my family this summer on our vacation. We're staying in a little cabin near Zion's national park and we're planning to do a lot of…
  • @3uttercup go clean out a closet! That's what I did this afternoon when my kids' Easter candy was starting to call out to me! It worked to, closet is clean and I didn't give in. Good luck
  • Hey all, I'd like to join this thread! I have oodles to lose, and for the umpteenth time! Every time I'm doing well and succeeding, I get knocked off track. I don't want that to happen this time. I've lost 20lbs and been working more physical activity into my routine. I'm glad to be involved is such an uplifting source of…
  • Thanks everyone for the kind words of advice! I did make it through this miserly weekend. Got some light exercise in, gave into a craving but didn't go overboard, and got lots of rest. I'll be ready for it next time!
  • Well, I've started the weaning, which is probably why I started. He only gets some in the morning and before bed. Maybe after he's in bed I"ll caff up!
  • Thanks. I'm afraid of the whole 'give an inch and lose a mile' thing. That's why I haven't given into the chocolate thing. Also, while I was pregnant, for some reason, chocolate made me nauseous. So, I'm not sure how I'll react to it now.
  • I sure used to, ever since having our first child!!! The new year though, three kids later, has brought me UNDER his weight, finally! However, I still look fatter than him. It must be the muscle or something. But, I'm not done, so, here's to "just keep swimming", or whatever.
  • I just made this for dinner tonight (I love my crockpot!!!) Hickory Pork (you can use this for pork roast or pork chops) 3-4 lb pork roast (or pork sirloin chops) 1/2 c. water 2 T liquid smoke 2 T kosher salt Put pork in the crockpot (use a liner for easy cleanup :) ) Add water and liquid smoke. Sprinkle with salt. Leave…
  • I'm on the ortho BC pill and I haven't noticed any difference it's made on my weight loss. I need the pill to stabilize my hormones, otherwise I have my cycle too often. When the hormones aren't controlled I have cravings that are much worse than normal. That could cause me to eat more, but other than that, I don't see any…
  • This has been the crux of my weight problem. I have three young children, one a little baby. Once I get the other two to bed and sit down to feed the baby, it's like SNACK TIME!!! I haven't conquered the problem, but here's what's helped. During the months of Sept and Oct I was helping a friend who has a home business. So,…
  • Thanks, but those are the charts that aren't usually accurate. They usually tell me that my healthy BMI is so much smaller than I ever remember being. I'm not sure that it's right. But, I do understand it's more how you feel. I'll definitely try to remember that too.
  • I have felt this way so many times, with Mt. Dew. I've given it up probably five times now, for different periods of time. Somehow, I get sucked back into the habit and start drinking it again. Last time I tried losing weight I switched to diet and adjusted to it just fine. I still lost weight, too. Of course, I gained the…
  • Oh man, what to do with all the left over cake?
  • I wear a bra to bed whenever I'm breastfeeding. Before kids, I never wore a bra to bed. Now, it's no big deal, as long as it's not my running sports bra. My youngest is 6mths and I'm still nursing him, so I wear a bra to bed right now. But, when I'm done, I'll probably go back to not wearing one.
  • I make divinity every year and everyone begs for it. I have a recipe for Jell-O divinity that is my family's tradition. I love it, you can make any flavor that they have a jello flavor of. You should definitely give it a try if you're already thinking about it!!!
