Thanks for replying by the way!

Good question! I suppose I just worry about eating too much sugar and not enough protein. Also I'm aware that there is so much food labelled as 'healthy' which is packed with sugar!
-
That it wouldn't be worth it. I'd rather have a glass of wine if I want a 'treat'

Thankyou so much! this is really helpful :-)

"when we have already established that added sugar and natural sugar are the same" not when the GI is different.

I like that one!

Would you be able to tell me how to search for a group? Thanks!

Thats awful! people have way too much time on their hands. I've noticed that some people can't wait to trash other people's success, however, most of the people here are supportive!

I would agree with the above posters. Personally, I feel like I also don't recognise the positive affects as much as some people, I also think I am more likely to notice a change when it is negative - so if I was to go back to eating badly then I would notice that change more. Sorry i can't be more help. Good question…

I've never heard of fiber capsules so I wouldn't know, but for me, I would rather have 400 cals worth of vegetables, grains, fruit, nuts and fish than cheesecake. Because I am more likely to get a range of nutrients. That said, I've seen some people concoct desserts with all manner of healthy ingredients so I suppose it…

If refined sugar is likely to test someone's willpower than isn't ok to omit it altogether though? I think that when I eat high GI foods I crave more, (as well as having other effects such as energy slumps) so I stay away from them altogether. Other people in my household do not have this issue and manage to eat sugar in…

Also food like cakes and desserts tend not to have so many other nutrients, so if you are on a calorie restricted diet then you could be using a large portion of those calories on something with little nutrition.

perhaps because the GI of foods such as many fruits is lower than say, candy. I would argue that 'sugar and natural sugar' are not the same, as for instance, argave nectar has a low GI compared to table sugar. And also perhaps because some people find it hard to eat candy and desserts in moderation, where as they do not…

I think its great that OP has found something they can stick to and is making them feel better. I've also cut down sugar drastically (for me its more about sticking to low GI as I am at risk of becoming insulin resistant) as DeirdreWoodwardSanders puts it so well: "Here are the benefits I felt immediately: no period…

LOL this would be my fsvourite diet...

A huge difference for 12lbs - well done you! I find this inspiring as 12lb would take me ages to lose.

i like 'seagan' and 'pscegan'

I actually think that is a really good term, i like it. I always think if I was to change my diet it would be to this, veganism but with fish and seafood. Really makes me laugh how some people get really overprotective over how other people use the terms vegan/vegetarianism... what does it matter if someone else uses the…

^ READ THE BOOK recommended above - really good. I went to a support group, it really helped me even though I thought it would be awful. Also, there are medications you can try, one called Champix worked for some people, I used the inhaler and patches, which helped A LOT. good luck!

i once had a simlar thing a few years ago, I weighed myself before I went to bed then first thing in the morning (excessive i know) and I had gained weight, I have no idea how as I had nothing to eat or drink during that time - where did the weight come from?? very strange, i wish i could help...

I'm 5'3 and I'd like to be about 105, just because I think I look best that way, and to some people it sounds low but it is within the healthy BMI range - when I am at the upper end of healthy I feel I look to big, but that is probably because I have never worked out before.

This may sound like a very naive question but i know nothing about Juice fasts etc, could one not just eat the raw fruit and vegetables as opposed to juicing them? I don't understand why you need to juice them and loose all that fibre?
-
I use suppositories when i am really desperate - just pop them up you bum, wait for them to melt and voila! I know it may sound gross but they have really helped me in the past.

this is so great.

me too! anyone add me please!

i've always thought the same! I would be suprised if you could weigh anymore after exercise (provided you didn't drink a lot) but any loss could be sweat. This reminds of a time I weighed myself before bed... the next morning I weighed more than I did the night before - how is that possible???

Most curries start with a paste that is fried at the beginning (i don't blitz mine like a lot suggest, i just chop it finely) which is normally onions, garlic, chilli, fresh ginger and spices (the spices vary for different curries but most include cumin, coriander and turmeric or graham masala) and then later to make it…

I once read that one of the things that makes food addiction so difficult to combat is that unlike an addiction to a drug where you can abstain completely, we still need food to survive so it is a bit like telling an alcoholic they have to have two beers a day to survive but absolutely no more than that. pretty hard!…
