Type 1 is an autoimmune disorder where the body does not make insulin. It is also referred to as juvenile diabetes. Back in the days, the average age of diagnosis was 30 whereas people had alot of damage at the time of diagnosis. With technology and education, people are diagnosed much, much younger. My son was diagnosed…

For me, I have to really limit my carbohydrates - particularly refined (breads, junk food, etc.) Also, make a deal with yourself to commit to going so many days (identify this as 7 days, etc.) of not binge eating. Once you reach that milestone, make a new comittmnt to yourself to go X more number of days. I have found by…

I personally would record the gain! My weight goes up and down and when I took a several month hiatus from MFP last fall, I gained 10 lbs back. Came back, updated my weight and started over. Keeps me accountable and honest with myself.

The best green tea ever is "Good Earth Green Tea with lemongrass" VERY good - hot or cold. Also, I drink mine mostly hot and take a tiny piece of lemon, squeeze it into my cup of tea (be sure not to get it on the bag or your tea will not taste good) and drop it in the cup and add 1 tsp of local honey. I get these bags at…

I just found the Skinny Cow wafter bars. They are 110 calories and a few fat gms. They also make 100 cal packs of chocolate, carmel cluster things that are very, very good. If you catch them on sale, they are about $4.99 a box. Not sure what they are regularly as I just found them!

bump. I have googled this and can't find a thing!

Lunch meats are out of this world loaded with sodium! I have visited my local health food grocery store and have found some wonderful lunch meat alternatives that are soy based and have just a little bit of sodium. They are very tasty and come in flavors such as salami, bologna, candadian bacon. Great alternative to lunch…

I love these noodles as a pasta replacement. There are a lot of easy and yummy recipes on the web using these!

Hi Christine! I also need to drop about 85 lbs. Been working on it for a while -- I do good then fall off the wagon. Now I'm getting back on track. I also have a trip to motivate me -- in March to Disney in California with the family. Feel free to add me as a friend and we can keep each other on track! Happy New Year!…

Hi Cheryl, feel free to add me too! I have alot to lose too and made the commitment in September and have already lost 25 lbs! I started out very small -- started logging everything, planning my meals ahead of time (like 1 day ahead) and started off committing to doing small things. It's amazing how quick you will progress…

I agree. Low carb works very well for some and not for others. For me personally (and my entire family), low carb works best. However, rather than stay away from all carbs, I'm having great success now staying away from starchy carbs/ones from processed or junk foods and sticking to natural carbs. So whereas I used to not…

greek yogurt, garlic salt, paprika, and dill weed. Tastes just like a rich, fattening dip and is so healthy and good!

I also just bought a bag of ground flaxseed and have been using it in smoothies. I also made meatballs and instead of using bread crumbs, just used the flaxseed. I have read you can replace oil with flaxseed but have not tried that yet! I have also sprinkled it in cereal and cottage cheese.

Well this is not a "green" veggie -- I love to take an eggplant and cook it until the skin is all burned up (on the grill or on my gas stove -- got to have it standing "up" as long as possible!) and its very soft; and then remove the insides and mix up with chopped tomato, jalepeno, green onion, cumin powder, salt and…

I've been working on stopping and asking myself "why do you want this?" It's very interesting because besides finally losing weight, I'm learning alot about myself and how I cover up my feelings or use food as a drug. I'm also not buying the junk anymore and packing my little one's lunch with healthy foods. I'm also…

I have hypothyroidism and probably the slowest loser out there! For years this has completely de-railed me because it is very disheartening, discouraging, and demotivating! However, since committing 110% in September, it is slowly coming off. In all of October, I did not lose a single pound until the very last day of the…

Awww! That brought tears to MY eyes!! lol How sweet!

I've been making a lot of fresh veggie soups - tomato, spinach, squash. I send my veggies through the blender with some chicken stock/broth then put back in a pan with some no-sugar added almond milk, some onion which has been sauteed in a tiny pat of butter and some seasonings. When done, I sprinkle with some shredded…

I love their oven roasted chicken breast salad. i get it with all the veggies and then ask for oil/vinegar on the side so I can measure out and a dash of lite ranch dressing. I agree with all the others -- Subway is probalby the safest place TO go out to eat with all the nutritional info. posted you can look online and…

I have been making my own veggie dip with greek yogurt (greek yogurt and then I add paprika, dill weed, and some garlic salt). Mix up and eat with raw veggies. You can also us greek yogurt and the powdered ranch packets -- you just need a tiny bit and it is so rich and creamy and delicious! I also eat a lot of cheese - and…

I chop/cut up 3 pcs of lower sodium turkey or chicken bacon with a little olive oil, cut up mushrooms and cut up spinach. Then once it's all tender I add in liquid egg whites, sometimes a little shredded cheese and eat with homemade salsa. Yummmm. Very filling and it only takes about 5 minutes to cook before I dash out the…
