I think this is sooooo critical for alot of us who have weight issues and this mentality. This has been a big, big thing I've been working on and now that i"m not focused on losing those 20 lbs in 2 weeks (or whatever ridiculous goal I have previously set for myself, it's finally coming off and I"m reaping the rewards of…

One of the best things I am learning is to make small changes. Also, incorporating foods that I have had in my head as "bad". Because I've always been a lower-carb dieter/eater, and I am an "it's all or nothing" type person, I was not eating a lot of healthy things, including fruit. I am slowly working on taking those…

You are so right! I have battled the bulge for as long as I can possibly remember -- into my tweens for sure. My biggest obstacle has been not seeing or thinking about the small changes. I finally got on the MFP train in September and haven't looked back. What is really making it work for me this time is to think small and…

That's very exciting! I am getting into things I have not worn in ages and also finding things to be waaay to big now. It's a wonderfully, happy problem to have!

How about some dark chocolate almond butter? It is very delicious, tastes just like peanut butter, only healthier and also is a great "treat". Does his school not allow peanut products? Beef jerky, luna bars. For lunches, maybe a variety of things such as chicken salad sandwiches, "egg" sandwiches (boiled egg mashed with a…

I have really come to like the ****aki tofu noodles. They are 20 calories for 1/2 the bag (2 servings in a bag). I wash them, put them in the microwave for about 40 seconds, wash them again, pat dry, then I take a lite laughing cow cheese wedge (any flavor works great), melt it in a bowl with a spoon of fat free greek…

I started out with almost 100 lbs to llose. One of my biggest hang ups is wanting it to come off quickly -- like 50 a month! Totally unrealistic. I started out by making very small changes, logging in my food here on MFP, working to stay within my nutritional goals, modifying here and there when I saw that I could do…

How awesome! You look beautiful and congratulations on your continued success!

Really great post and one I need to re-read over and over! I think part of my biggest problem is that I do get hung up on where I "am" versus where I want to be and then I just get focused on the here and now, get depressed, and that cycle just goes on and on. Setting small mini-goals is really helping me a LOT now and…

that's awesome! Congratulations!

Actually belly fat can be targeted and is one of the easier fats to lose initially. I went to a conference where a very well known researcher presented and has done extensive research on this type of fat. For belly fat, it is recommended to eat lower carb meals, and cardio workouts. Even walking is a great way to aid in…

I just went through this the entire month of October. I lost 8 lbs in September (month 1 of getting serious) and then lost 2 more and wham -- I sat at the same number ALL month long -- still eating between 12000-1400 calories and staying in my goals AND working out. I was really getting discouraged and all of a sudden this…

I make chicken tandoori with drumsticks. You need a box of Shaan brand chicken Tiki or Chicken Tandoori mix (both taste same). remove skin off drumsticks. With a sharp knife, put deep puncture wounds, about 1/2 inch long throughout your drumstick (put several punctures and make them deep). In a bowl, combine plain nonfat…

My mom used to be very critical and would tell me nobody would "want" me if I was fat (meaning a boy when I grew up. She used to also call me thunder-thighs from a very early age. Unfortunately, I take after my dads side of the family - we are short and have large legs. On top of that, I was always compared to my older…

I have the opposite problem. I still see the youthful, 20 year old, 120 lb body in the mirror when I look. That's a bad thing too because who I see in the mirror is NOT who is walking around in a size 22 pants!
-
I think you handled it fabulously. I hate, hate HATE to hear how people are mocked and put down for their size and even in a situation like that where it is an article of clothing they were making fun of, I think it made a good point to them in a way in which they could relate to without putting them down. By sharing your…

I've been subbing some ground flax seed/meal in meatball recipes and it works great and adds no carbs and lots of fiber.

I thought with hyper (high running thyroid) you actually lose weight very fast (and also hair, etc.)?
-
I have hypothyroid and after finding an excellent doctor and 5 months of lab work and medication adjustments, I am finally "fixed!" LOL I am actually on the line for being hyper now but feel better than I have in such a long time. Just be sure your physician is testing your free T3/T4 levels and have patience with the all…

Wow!! That is awesome and what a wonderful achievement. Looking forward to hearing your continued successes!

sounds delicious! I'm going to have to try those! Thanks!

Yeah - it gets confusing. If I am not sure about something, I go google it and find some other sources to confim the accuracy of some items.

That's great!! My husband is not overweight by any means but does have a beer belly. He always has his mom bring back custom tailored dress slacks from India when she comes (they are much cheaper and customized). All the pants she brought last fall are super tight on him now!! She comes back tomorrow and we were measuring…

That's awesome! My husband does not really support me and always says stuff like, "you're just going to diet for a few weeks...." now that I"m going into month 2 of eating healthy and exercising, I noticed he is taking a look when we sit down for dinner to what I'm eating vs. what he's eating. Last night I made a wonderful…

This is interesting because has anyone ever KNOWN someone who ate a bunch of fruit and got fat? Back in our ancestoral days, if we were wanderers and gatherers, than the human body surived on fruits and things from the land..... Personally, I always do lower carb eating plans so I rarely eat fruit of any kind. :frown: I'm…

I have recently switched to natural almond butter -- tastes exactly like natural peanut butter. I get the no stir smooth (some you have to stir the liquid). Calorie wise it is high, but it is all good fats and protein.

That's awesome! Congrats on your hard work - it is paying off!

Wow! That's awesome - I would never have thought of that! I am definately going to try this!!

I count my tea! i usually have a cup or two of hot green tea in the mornings and do count it. If I later drink a large 32 oz of iced tea, I will count a glass or two.

I log mine when it goes up for more than 2 days. I am currently battling the same 2 lb loss/gain and if it's not back down tomorrow, it gets logged. And I HATE that. I am not doing anything different, eating good, exercising, etc. And 1 day I'm up 2 lbs; the next I may be down! grrr. In your case, I would definately log…
