You're 17 so not old enough to have an account here but wanted to post a quick reply. Does your doctor know you have a history of disordered eating? You need to be working with your therapist as dieting is a huge factor in relapsing. Slow and steady will get you where you need to be, while teaching you the habits that will…

Unless you have a medical condition that requires you to track sugar, change your diary settings to log fibre instead the sugar. Weigh your fruit and have patience, as others have said. If you're still not losing, check other things such as activity settings, exercise burns, and make sure you are using accurate food…

Persistent UTI's should be treated with a low dose long term antibiotic. It takes approximately 6 months for the liner to heal enough to stop the cycle. If you can make it 6 months without getting one, that's the trick.

So you essentially cut her exercise calories in half, and then cut them in half again?? She's 230 pounds, and worked out for over 2 hours, and you gave her 1475 calories to eat for the day... OP, I weigh a lot less, and your numbers don't seem extremely off. I would suggest initially dropping them by a third to a half when…

Meal timing doesn't matter, as you already know. 1 pound of loss per 2 weeks sounds like a nice rate of loss. The strength training will help maintain muscle mass. Just stop discussing weight loss with them at all.
-
If your logging is accurate, you will lose weight eating back part of your exercise calories. Use a food scale, log accurately, calculate your rate of loss over time, and adjust accordingly. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

Are you using a food scale? If not, your food logging will be off. If you're not hungry, that would be the first place I would look. Most people who have a 1000+ calorie deficit aren't full. (If you're set for 1 pound a week, you already have a built in 500 calorie deficit so that puts you at a 1057 deficit for the day. If…

He should not give up gluten until after his test or his results won't be accurate. And if he did have Celiac's, the longer he is GF, the harder it would be to go back on for the test. As the body heals, the reaction tends to become more severe. I can't imagine eating a single bite of bread at this point.
-
If you have a store that carries Dempster's products, they make a good gluten free bread. It is actually my favourite. It is not frozen, unlike most gluten free breads. I've only tried the white. http://glutenzero.dempsters.ca My second favourite is kinnikinnick, it is usually found in the freezer section. My favourite…

You should have chosen how fast you wanted to lose, and it would set it accordingly.

Why not at the very least, bring a change of shirt? I understand not wanting to shower there, but to go home that sweaty? Just have one shirt that you repack each day to wear home, and then shower at home.

Maybe you could try switching to a wrap?

I take something that in Canada is called Super Sleep, think it has a different name in the US. I get mine from Costco. Anyway, it is a blend of 1.5 mg melatonin, 15 mg 5-HTP, and 100mg L-Theanine. I take 2 every night. It helps me sleep, and I feel calmer, less anxiety the next day.
-
After you've had a square or two, if you can't stop, throw it out. Seriously. And if you dig it out of the garbage and eat it, seek help. :*
-
That would depend on how accurate you are with your food logging. There is a big difference between people who use a food scale for all solids, and those who choose to use measuring cups, or 'servings'.
-
I guess it depends on if you've reached your goal look. For some people, a lean bulk might follow a recomp, if they are at their desired BF but want to add more muscle. Others might be happy with their look and enter a maintenance program for weights just like for their diet.

CharonCharon aka catscats222 ?? You change user names so often I can't keep up. I thought we were only allowed to change once.

Maybe aqua jogging?

Look, you came in here pretty judgemental, so I'm not shocked you got some kickback. You do you, let him do him. If you don't believe that counting calories is important, then that's what you believe, but that doesn't mean that the forums have to agree with you, nor does it mean your son has to agree with you. Is he…

Thanks. I find that 'quick tips' are just mental clutter that get in the way :D

That sounds like an extremely restricted diet. Why? You can still eat normal foods. How about expanding your variety, and cutting yourself some slack so that it is more sustainable and less prone to make you binge or quit? I would at least add in some variety like fish, pork, yogurt, cheese, and there's nothing wrong with…

Use a food scale, log accurately, and make choices that will fill you up while keeping calories low. Patience. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

If you are in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. Use a food scale. btw, I don't make separate meals. It just means my family eats a bit healthier than they might have otherwise. They don't care. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10257474/starting-out-restarting-basics-inside#latest

Missed that. So that would make it a 1500 calorie per day deficit, and would need to have PRE-exercise calories maintenance at 2500 calories per day. Golden rule is 20% percent reduction of calories from TDEE; that would far exceed anything approaching safe.
-
This is such contradictory advice... how is she going to lose 15 pounds in 6 weeks but net over 1000? That would be a 1250 deficit, so her maintenance calories before exercise would have to be 2250 calories per day!
-
I just don't understand why people who don't agree with counting calories and that calories matter, come on a calorie counting based site? On any other site that would be called something ending with ing.
-
If it were me, the main advice I would give them if they asked, would be simply that they need to be in a deficit. It's up to them how they get there.

Calories are king. White, brown, calories don't discriminate.

If they want to lose weight, suggest MFP to them, and then let the people here help them. That way they will get good info, and you're not involved.
