Since I am still tracking on MFP, I know that I am not eating fewer calories at all. You are encouraged to eat significant quantities of healthy fats, good quality meats, fish, and eggs, plenty of vegetables, and some fruit. The book (It Starts With Food) is well worth the read. It talks a lot about chronic systemic…

I have been doing it since Jan 28, although in the past 2 days I have added back my whey protein. It has helped with my tendonitis and plantar fasciitis, improved the quality of my sleep, cleared up my skin, made my energy level more consistent, and eliminated cravings. Although they recommend not logging or counting…

Some of the user-entered data is questionable...I picked an entry for a margarita once that said it had 12 grams of protein. Um, I didn't eat the worm, folks. ;-)

This!! I grew up on frozen vegetables boiled to death and thought I hated all vegetables...that is just how people cooked them in the 70s. If you have texture issues (like I do), I think leaving a lot of crunch in the vegetables is key. Use fresh veggies, and don't get them anywhere near water for cooking -- saute (I use…

BTW, I order from Amazon.com.

This article was posted in another thread: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mercola/coconut-oil-benefits_b_821453.html I use the Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.

p.s., I make it with unsweeteened almond milk (1 cup), 1 scoop Whey Delicious, 2 TBSP PB2 (the powdered low-fat peanut butter) and about half a cup of ice, mixed in the blender.
-
Whey Delicious...you have to order it, and it's not cheap...but SOO worth it, in my opinion. www.proteinishealthy.com

Try unsweetened almond milk as a base -- only 35 calories in a cup, great nutrition, and really delicious! I use a cup of almond milk, a scoop of chocolate or vanilla whey protein, 2 TBSP of PB2, and about half a cup of ice. LOVE it.

BTW, if you find you are using it on a regular basis, Amazon has an autoship program for 2 of the 54 ounce jars for about $38 -- so it's much cheaper that way. You can set the shipment interval to your liking.

Sure -- that's what I do.

Oh, and make popcorn in it...delicious!

The Nutiva brand extra virgin coconut oil does have a coconut taste and smells INSANELY good. I don't really notice the taste in savory recipes though. My favorite indulgence is what my friends and I call "PeaCoNut" -- mix together a small jar of natural peanut butter, a small jar of Nutella, and about half a cup of the…

I dont know anyone who likes it in coffee (though apparently some responders here do)...I use it in kefir smoothies, and love it in there.

I think the Cheetos Puffcorn has a fair amount of trans fat in it (if we're talking about the same thing) -- Pirate's Booty does not.
-
I would love that...I remember it from when I was a kid, I think -- but it's not in my area now.
-
No -- but you do need a good blender.

I dump the whole jar into the kitchen aid mixer, get the oil mixed in well, then return it to the jar and refrigerate it. It never needs stirring again, and keeps the bottom of the jar from being very dry. I grew up on the not-natural varieties and never cared much for it...I LOVE the natural stuff.

Regarding the Nature Valley Protein bars -- Sam's Club is carrying them where we are now (in VA) -- I think there are 18 in the box for about $9, so pretty inexpensive as protein bars go.
-
Nature Valley has a new line of protein/granola bars. The peanut butter/dark chocolate has 10 grams of protein, 190 calories, 12 g fat, 5 g fiber, 6 g sugar. I think they are pretty satisfying when I need to grab something quickly for breakfast or a snack.

Actually, the palm oil in Nutella is not hydrogenated -- check their website.

Hair loss can be a thyroid issue, and you can have "normal" bloodwork even if your thyroid is functioning at just 30% capacity. If you don't know what your previous "normal" was, the tests are not significant. Some endocrinologists will treat you with Synthroid based on symptoms rather than bloodwork for this reason. I…

I have been using the zig-zag calorie calculator at freedieting.com, overriding MFP's calculator -- it takes into account a certain amount of exercise for the week (which for me is "intense exercise" 5 times/week, and it simply defines "intense exercise" as something that raises your heart rate and lasts for an hour or…
