  • Mum of two from Palmy, keen to have some more active kiwi friends on here :)
  • I'm in Palmy too :)
  • I have Zipp 700c carbon fibre race wheels, they're amazing. I had generic Avanti (a NZ brand) wheels before and I can't believe the difference they made. Somehow they just make it easier to go up hills, freespin for ever on the downhills and make you magically faster... They cost as much as my bike but justifiable if you…
  • That looks fun, I assume it's based in Auckland, it doesn't really say anything about where the route might be at all... I live in Palmy though so would be no use to you for training!
  • I used to have the same problem then I changed my shoes, now I can run with or without socks (I do triathlons so it's not quite as odd as it sounds putting socks on adds time) and don't get blisters...
  • Hey, I just had my first baby - he's now eight weeks old. I'd lost weight before I got pregnant then piled it all back on and some extra just for good measure so have a way to go and it's not easy as you don't get a whole lot of sleep. I'm finding the combination of no sleep, being at home most of the time and…
  • I have a smiliar problem with having no open water to practice in. You want to make sure you practice sighting (looking where you're going) and breathing on one side and the other in case it's windy and the waves are trying to choke you on one side, you can easily do all that in a pool. As long as you do that you're fine.…
  • Tri suits are amazing, I use orca ones, they often have last season ones on sale on their website (at least they do in NZ), they're really comfy. Yep definately train in it at least a bit, they tend to rub in areas swim suits don't and you want to know about that before hand - they tend to rub higher up on my neck but get…
  • I also used to be a very good swimmer back in the day then stopped for a very long time. I decided to get back into swimming in order to do triathlons and it was depressingly hard at first but it was amazing how quickly you get back into things. I'm now having to re-return to swimming again after having a bad bike crash…
  • My hair goes down to my bum, I just use latex caps as they're stronger, tie it up in a low pony tail and flip it forwards then fold it (my hair) over a few times on top of my head and it fits in fine, I find I always have problems with my goggle straps slipping if I wear it all in a bun. I've also wondered if I got rid of…
  • This looks great, have just had a baby so am very unfit and slow but will be a good way to get back swimming properly again. I'm also from NZ. http://paceclub.speedousa.com/swim_team/users/rachel-ingham
  • You're doing amazing, as long as you're not getting running related injuries it shouldn't be a problem... my husband's training for a 85km ultramarathon at the moment so I may have a slightly skewed version of 'normal' running... but everyone's an individual and tolerates different amounts of training!
  • I'd hope that wasn't me as I wouldn't have been qualified :) Most of the people I stitch up tend to be comatose... gotta love ED...
  • Hello all, Doctor here - does that count? I definitely do lots of horrible and irregular hours!
  • I live by hammer gels, they do an espresso flavoured one which is the only one i've found which isn't horribly sweet. Definately try and take whatever you decide before you need to as they take a while to kick in, use them while you're training and you'll figure out what works best for you - don't just use them on the day…
  • Hello all! I'm a swimmer, tolerate biking and hate running - opposite to most people... Did my first (very hilly) half ironman last year and booked in for another in a few weeks, prefer long distance events but rather limited by my complete lack of running ability. Also did a 2500km ish bike ride earlier this year and…
  • Dizzy spells when you stand up are due to a drop in your blood pressure which is very common and not something you need to worry about too much. Your collapse was probably due to a combination of this and a urine infection - they often don't cause symptoms and people collapse from them all the time. The chance of it being…
  • I live in NZ, also originally from the UK but a rather long time ago
