I am not an expert, but one of the trainers at my gym has recently advised me to do yoga as I was getting a lot of injuries. I lift and do cardio. I have found it is very helpful for me. If it doesn't hurt you..... :flowerforyou:

Zumba is a fun cardio workout IF you have a good instructor who also pushes you. It's loads of fun and the time flies. However the DVD is not the same as a real instructor and it's only good for cardio. You must incorporate other ST routines. You will NOT get their bodies on the DVD from zumba alone.

What everyone has said is true. Reach out and get some friends; the support and their drive is pheonominal. Make today your new start. Change is hard and creating new habits and getting out of old comfortable routines is NOT easy but you have to know what you want and why you want it to get it. Try to find friends that you…

Logging is NOT obsessive but I do know that several of my friends (not my husband) think I'm obsessive about this too. I've tried to explain it and they just don't understand so the only thing I can suggest is that you just do what you feel is the right thing and that's all that matters. They are not living your life. You…

I had never heard of them, but I'm in. I'll get them done right after my Zumba class and will see how long I can endure. ;o)

I still consider myself a newbie but I've only used the olympic bar and plates in a squat rack, made it to 95#! The Smith machine has too many issues associated it from all the feedback that I've received.

Thanks for posting so much info!

Bump! Thanks :flowerforyou:

Hi! Feel free to add me if you'd like. I did WW for about a yr and a half and lost weight; it also got me into exercise. When I stopped tracking my points because they changed the program, I gained some weight back. I continued to exercise but ate what I want when I wanted. Then I found this website and I'm hooked!! Can't…

Diet and exercise go hand in hand for total health. Someone said 'you can't out train a bad diet'; this is true! :) Good luck!

Bump! I'm going to give these a try. Thanks for posting:flowerforyou:

It's true. You really need a HRM because what one burn another may not. There are too many variables: age, weight, BF%.....Any workout that incorporates HIIT is usally a good cal burn though.

@ Wheezy, so you quit. You can start back over. Tomorrow is a new day to live your dream. Make it happen & go get it!! :)

Yeah Q!!!!! Whoot! Whoot! :drinker: I finally weighed myself after staying off the scale for a month and my weight is up slightly (118.8 to 122.6) but....and there is a but, but my butt is smaller!! ;o) Yeah squats!!!! I'm at Session 39, working toward on 95 # tomorrow, 75 chest press, barbell 75, DL 145 (actually…

I agree with both responses; you especially need to eat when you're lifting. I found this out the hard way and also joined the EM2WL group. Tameko is awesome and very informative about SL. It's a great program. I've been doing it for about 3 mos now and lifting weight that I thought I'd never do. I thought I was mad for…

Love my Polar FT4! :)

I took a look at your diary and you're eating very low calories and also allot of processed foods. I would try to calculate your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and BMR so you know how much your body is burning to see if you should only be eating what you're eating. I noticed less than 1200 on several days.…

Hi! I workout at home in a pinch...whatever it takes to get a workout in. For me, it's hard to workout during the day when my 10 year old is awake so if i can't get to the gym, I get up before everyone else. I throw in a DVD, do a workout on demand, or jump on my treadmill. I also have printed lots of excerise routines…

Hi Kelly, We are about the same height and age so I thought I'd check your diary but it's closed. I was in the same boat and unbeknown to me and I know this sounds strange, I wasn't eating enough for the activity that I was doing. Basically your body goes into starvation mode because you're burning more than you're eating.…

Agree w/many others, stopping exercise is not the answer but I would suggest changing it to strength training 3 days a week and 2 days of cardio.

Hmmmmm....I'm not supposed to weigh in until the middle of the month although I did and got down just as stated. I've only been lifting for 3 months, but I definitely notice a difference in my clothes and others have noticed too. I'll accept your challenge and no weigh in until August 1st. :) I do like her suggestion and…
