I have been a vegetarian for over 12 years, and Ive been low carb for 2.... but according to everyone else, this is impossible... hmm... There are tons of groups and resources online to recipes and tips for vegketo. PM if you please.

Ive been doing veg keto for the past few years... What makes you think it cannot be done? To OP, I range from 50-100 g protein a day if I dont really watch what Im eating. Faux meat products can be pretty high protein, with only 1-3 g CHO per serving. Eggs and cheese are your friends. Its not hard to meet your macros at…

Adding butter, oil, or cheese to your veggies will help pump the calorie counts. Also using heavy cream in your coffee or tea, or even making a sauce out of it. Peanut butter is also calorie dense. There are a bunch of recipes for fat bombs, which are awesome to get your fat macros up while adding calories.

I do eat cheese every day. I put it on my eggs, or I make it into a "sandwich" (shredded cheese in the microwave on wax paper until it starts almost burning.. once it cools down some its like a little disc of heaven lol) I would just say eat whatever kind you like, or go explore new kinds. Thats another thing I love about…

Ive been following this since February and love it. At first, you have to get over all the bad stigma fat has, and make sure you are eating enough. Remember, its high fat, not high protein. Coconut oil, heavy cream, full fat cheese, avocados, almonds, butter (I just now finally bought some Kerrygold... omg its amazing)…

A little late, but Ive been doing veg keto since February. Feel free to add me if you like! I would think all that fruit is going to knock you out of ketosis, so I would stay away from that. You need to make sure you are getting enough fat in your diet. I have plenty of heavy cream, coconut oil, butter, cheese, and…

Glad to see Im not the only one with the lumpy sports bra!

Ive been vegetarian for 10 years, and have been doing low carb since Feb. It does take planning, but its not that hard. Having limited access to faux meat products will make it slightly harder. Can you get tofu, or order a carb-free protein powder? Make sure you eat lots of veggies, especially dark, leafy greens, nuts,…

This was actually one of the questions on my final in my dietetic class this past semester. The general rule of thumb is to count all juices, coffees and teas, caffeinated or decaffeinated, with your water count. You, of course, still need to account for the added calories in these liquids.

Im following a vegetarian keto diet, so my options are a little bit different than everyone elses. Quest bars are amazing. Celery and cream cheese (or peanut butter, but since you cant do that, maybe any other nut butters?) Almonds String cheese, or just any kind of cheese Kale chips (kale tossed in olive oil baked for 10…

The first time I had them, I had the same reaction. But they eventually grew on me. I would say try and dry them out as much as possible. Once I let them drain in a cloth, I put them in the oven with just a tad of olive oil and let them bake for about 10 minutes. They still have some resistance, but definitely not as gummy.

Hello! I just passed the CDM certification exam, and am in a DTR program. Once I graduate, I will be transferring to an RD program.

The red liquid that comes out when cooking red meat is not blood. Like humans, all muscle is composed of a large amount of water. This water mixes with the protein myoglobin, and the more myoglobin, the redder the meat, thus leading to the red liquid being cooked out of the muscle.

I am in school for nutrition, and last semester we did experiments on shrinkage on different fat contents of beef. I know your question is slightly different than this, but still....We cooked them in a skillet and in the oven, using I believe 90% and 70%. They were all cooked to an internal temp of 165 degrees F and then…

I bought a box of the strawberry cheesecake, and its alright, but does not compare to how much more I enjoy the cinnamon roll, brownie, or the oh so decadent cookie dough. Still, all the flavors I have tried are 10x better than any other protein bars I have had.

Hey guys! Im 23 and currently following a vegetarian keto diet. Ive been a vegetarian for just over 10 years now, and Im also back in school studying nutrition. Feel free to add me and ask any questions you may have! :)

Its things like this that cause people to be so confused when it comes to nutritional information. Yes, a marketing ploy is to say that breakfast is the healthiest meal of the day. Its meant to break your fast from sleeping... to provide your body with the nutrients it needs to start your day. It doesn't matter the time of…

I have yet to do this, but it is on my list. I just made cauliflower "rice", but my goal was to make them seem like mashed potatoes. I did not put them in the blender, which is probably why it did not have that consistency. It seems to take on the form of whatever youre substituting it for... probably a mental thing. Try…

I have seen a lot of recipes using almond flour, but I have never used it before. What is the taste/consistency differences when using it compared to wheat flour?
-
Thanks chicka! I might have a slight metal taste, but I havent noticed anything else really change. But I do have more energy so I guess I must be doing something right! lol

hello. i am a vegetarian as well, and have chosen to try out a keto diet. i was doing alright for about a week (today i def went off track. still learning not to use food for emotional crutches). i do find it hard sometimes to get the right balance of my macros, or even making myself eat some meals.
-
Thank you for your input. I have had a headache since about an hr after I ate, so I can definitely say my body can sense the difference lol
-
It is. I have found that quorn and gardien brands are very low in carbs as compared to protein.

Not sure what you're confused about.... my personal lifestyle choices or why I chose to follow this diet? Following a keto diet is not about "eating animals"; its based on the state your body goes into through the science of ketosis. Burning fat instead of glucose.
