  • Is there any way you can find a similar-looking and similar-sized one in a supermarket and use those calories for yours? That might be closest. Unless you make it yourself and can list the ingredients (I'm assuming it doesn't come in a package), it's going to be impossible to do more than estimate. You might want to get…
  • I'm 5'1, weight 155lbs, and usually wear a US Size 10 (UK Size 12) in pants. I carry most of my weight in my tummy, boobs and top half generally. I'm pleased to say that since April when I joined MFP I've dropped a size  and I'm on the verge of dropping another, depending on the manufacturer.
  • Thanks very much everyone! I will try to run outdoors. I guess sometimes, despite my brain telling me I should forget BMI and all that other stuff, as I feel great!- I just baulk a bit as I'm 5'1 and weigh 155lbs... I'd love to see more chunky runners around! But I need to keep telling myself we're all shaped differently…
  • Best of luck for your run in October. You can definitely do it! I've just signed up for one at the end of November so in a similar boat! I'm at the end of Week 3 of ZenLabs training programme towards a 10K and it's good; I'd recommend if you wanted to hop in at Week 6 or somewhere. I'm really enjoying working towards that…
  • Another vote for ZenLabs on the iPhone. I'm currently using it to get to 10K in November (I'm at the end of Week 3) and I play it alongside Spotify on the treadmill. It's all totally manageable and I like how it counts down rather than up. There's a free version of the app, so you can try it and see how it goes, nothing…
  • Wonderful thread, thank you. I've just entered my first 10K, taking place end of November, alongside a slim, sporty, fit friend. She's very kind but I'm at the most fit I've been in my life right now, and lets just say I'm not built to run, more built to stand and fight  I'm really looking forward to it as…
  • Hi there, I'm 25, from London and I'm also a teacher. Likewise after finishing my Masters degree last year I found I'd gone up from my ideal 9 stone (ish) up to nearly 12 stone during six years of studying. I'm only 5" tall so that was a shock. I also have a boyfriend who can eat a lot and it not seem to affect his figure.…
  • I love my Polar FT4. It does everything I want it to, i.e. tells me how many calories I've burnt in an exercise session. I just then input the calorie burn into MFP, simple. I was also super-pleased I can wear it whilst swimming! And it still works! Bonus! I have the pink version, which I totally didn't think would be 'me'…
  • Just wanted to say thanks for the tips everyone and good luck Claire. I'm in a similar boat; I have a really regular schedule and eat three home-prepared meals a day during term time (I'm a teacher) but in the summer holidays I have nearly two months of not being in control of my meals, what with weddings/parties/barbecues…
  • *waves* I do eat fish occasionally, but I'm a careful logger and friends can see my diary.
  • Yes, use my Polar FT4 in the pool to swim laps all the time. It's brilliant. I was dubious at first but very pleased with performance. I tend to lock the buttons before I get in so I can't press anything in the water. Happy swimming!
  • I love swimming; like OP used to swim competitively as a kid, but not so fast these days! Firstly, I tend to have a low calorie instant hot chocolate after a swim, as I find that warms me up (especially in winter) and I feel like a lot if hunger is a sort of coldness/emptiness thing. Secondly, I invested a Polar heart rate…
  • So wise, and wonderfully inspiring. Thank you for taking the time to post, congratulations on the loss, and all the best for a happy future.
  • Well done you! I'm in the UK, but we have a great bra shop here for those 'blessed' with bigger sizes :ohwell: It's called Bravissimo, and here's a link: http://www.bravissimo.com/ I'm sure there are lots of others, but you can have fun now finding bras in your new size... and make sure you get measured properly. I totally…
  • Hello, I'm happy to be a motivational friend in your time zone :-) Take a look at my profile and if you like, add me. I check in EVERY DAY and never cheat ;-)
  • Same deal for me. I'm in London :-)
  • I just wanted to say thanks again for the suggestions. I bought a Polar FT4, and can't believe I've only had it for five days as it's totally reformed my tracking! The numbers I was estimating before seem to have been totally random and I have much more faith in my workouts now. I even wore gingerly took it for a swim at…
  • I eat fish sometimes, but mainly vegetarian. I like: Butternut squash and goats cheese risotto (or pea and mint etc) Spag bog or cottage pie made with quorn mince Hearty soups usually with lentils and loads of veg or potato and leek Roasted veg, halloumi and cous cous Fajitas with quorn pieces or butter beans Salads with…
  • Bump ... me three!
  • Hello, I'm 5"1 too. I weigh 154lbs (last checked about 2 weeks ago :ohwell: )but started just over a month ago about 159lbs. I wear a 32GG bra but usually Size 12 trousers so I'd call myself 'top heavy'! (All UK sizes). My goal is 119lbs but I'm not a scale obsessive; I'd happily settle for a comfortable Size 8/10 frame…
  • This is a wonderful story and it sounds like it couldn't have happened to a better person. I wish you all the happiness and joy with your new body.
  • I don't find a catcall a compliment. I can safely say that any man I'd find attractive would never dream of catcalling. If you like the look of someone, find a polite way to start up a conversation which isn't based on "You look sexy"... There are plenty of other options if you use a brain cell or two. Most women I know…
  • Thanks a lot guys. So many responses already! I like the look of the Polar FT4... have seen a couple on eBay so might take advantage of others giving up to snap up a cheap unwanted model
  • I'm a 5"1, 25-year-old pescetarian in London. I was just over 72kg but lost 2kg last month, my first month with MFP. Aiming for about 54kg in the long term. Add me if you feel we might have things in common, open invitation to all!
  • Hi, I'm a 25-year-old pescetarian. Me, my boyfriend and our cat live in London and are all eating a lot more lettuce as of one month ago when I joined MFP. I love wine, gym classes and walking, and I log every day; I'm determined to get back to my pre-university weight and into my beautiful dresses I could wear a few years…

  • Hi guys, I'm another pescetarian who is new to this site. When I went to university seven years ago and got to choose what I ate, I cut out meat and have been that way ever since. No desire ever to go back! I have lots of reasons, mainly to do with the environment and animal cruelty, but also because I believe that humans…
