  • Guinness. I think it's in the 120s calorie-wise.
  • Restarted Stage 3 yesterday. I'm sore! It's a good sore though. Tonight will be a run of some sort.
  • RE-re-restarting S3 today... lol. This time hopefully my schedule wont be so wonky! I felt like crap yesterday so that's all I really have for now.
  • I always do individual vs. cumulative for dumbells. It really doesn't matter, just two ways of writing the same thing. Just be consistent.
  • Starting over this week. With all of last week's events life was just CRAZY. I think I'm going to push back my half marathon so I can refocus and recharge. I will be starting Stage 3 over today. I'm also going to focus more on getting in enough protein. I've been REALLY bad at that. My protein powder isn't that great…
  • This week has just been nuts. I'm restarting Stage 3 Monday and doing more "fun" runs 4 days a week in anticipation for when I restart my half training. I just feel with everything going on that it will be better to push my half until the fall. I have other smaller races that I would love to do this summer and I really…
  • Blah. Craziness in the city. Everyone I know who ran is okay and my husband who just happened to leave the finish line 10 minutes before the bombing is fine just a little freaked out. Thank goodness he left. I haven't been really logging because, well, I just haven't. I was supposed to do NROL yesterday but I just didn't…
  • That's strange. There should have been a breakdown of the various stages with workouts A and B listed. The pages of exercises are just to become familiar with them as you go along. I read the book on my Kindle and those Stage/Workout/Reps pages showed up.
  • I do NROL. There is some HIIT later on that incorporates some cardio. Did I gain a little weight? Yup. Did I have to buy all new pants? Nope. In fact, I need to put a smaller notch in my belt. I am a runner and I pretty much gave up running for two months and saw some good results. I wasn't doing it for weight loss but…
  • That's good to know. Thanks!
  • I am not full on Paleo but I'm thinking that I should, I just need to take the plunge. I'm probably about 75% Paleo. I have noticed that it has caused my IBS symptoms to disappear which is wonderful. I do notice that when I start eating like I used to I get terribly sick, so I'm hoping to fully transition soon enough. My…
  • Wow! Lots of catching up. Sam, that's pretty much how I am when I am forced to run on the treadmill. I hate it! Also, I've been tested for a bunch of things but it always comes back normal so they just labeled me with "IBS" which I get but there has to be more to the issue than just your garden variety IBS. Happy Monday!…
  • Lcu, nothing helps. I've been through the wringer with doctors and everything too. Basically, I feel best when I have no dairy and eat as cleanly as possible (pretty close to Paleo). Also, avoid booze. That's always been a nasty trigger and since I have been avoiding it, it's worse. Then I forget, like you said, how much…
  • Emgel, I think we are pretty similar when it comes to working out. I think that's why I was battling some minor injuries before because I just go balls to the wall. Morning. I'm hoping/praying to get a lifting session in tonight since I missed the last two nights. The reason I'm not sure about it is because I caved last…
  • Rachie, you will have to keep posting updates for stronglifts. I am VERY interested in starting something like that once race season is over. Also, thanks to everyone for the advice on 2 vs 3 workout days/week. I think it's the right decision. I didn't end up doing sprints last night. I had a hot caffeinated beverage early…
  • Lcu, congrats on the strength gains! Also, that sounds like a killer running workout! QOTD: Favorite artist is tough. I love so many. Right now I'd have to go with Rihanna because of her song "Stay." I just love it.
  • Morning! I did an easy run last night and tonight will be 8x400 sprints. Km, I think I'm going to drop it down to 2x/week. It's not ideal but I have a lot of potential races in the next few months so I want to focus on running. I'm bummed because I love lifting but I think this is for the best. After race season I can just…
  • Sue, at least you were able to do something! I hate days when I feel like I might as well have stayed home but they key is you pushed yourself so congrats on that. Yeah, I realize I probably wont get the same out of NROL if I push it back to 2x/week. I already have big racing goals this summer so I might just cut back on…
  • Hmm, I never thought about switching up the NROL days to accommodate running but Emgel, your post reminds me that I should probably do it. I think the whole reason I was battling with issues was because I was lifting a bit much for the running I needed to do. Hmmm. Maybe I will try and do a Tu/Th schedule with the lifts so…
  • Wow! I have some catching up to do :) I have been MIA since this weekend and yesterday were just crazy. I need to make it a goal of mine to log in more often. My race was on Sunday and I was doing AMAZING until 2/3 of the way in and I got a terrible cramp across my rib cage. That sucked a lot. I somehow managed to rally…
  • Beeps: 50 seconds Sam: Congrats on the size 6! That is an awesome achievement chica! Rachie: Losing 2 inches in some areas is nothing to brush off. That took a lot of hard work and is a great difference! Please don't get discouraged. You are awesome and if you put in the work and the correct diet I am CONVINCED you will…
  • Ha Sam! I can never pull of the commando thing either.
  • Km, my tempo runs are constantly increasing until I hit half marathon day. Right now I'm up to a 40 minute tempo. I typically do a 10 minute warm up then increase to race pace or a bit below for 10 minutes then do increases every 5 or so minutes. I then do a 5 minute cool down which is at my warm up pace. My hill run is…
  • Sam that sounds like a great workout! Beeps, feel better already will ya?! ;) Yesterday was a rest day, I had to run and pick up something an hour away and drive back so there was no time to workout. I also had a nasty headache again... definitely work/stress related and I feel it creeping back today. I need to fight it…
  • Hello hello! Lcu, those are some great splits! Nice work :) I'm tired but I have been allowing myself to sleep in an hour for the past two days. I think I do better on 7 hours vs 8 hours. Last night I did a 40 minute tempo run. It wasn't terrible but I definitely felt a little sluggish. That's what lack of training does ;)…
  • Sam, that's a pretty great goal in my opinion! Beeps, I can't wait for my next hair cut. It is SO relaxing. Probably one of my favorite things. Sue, that was pretty much what I had to do last night. Sitting on the couch didn't help... the only thing that did was sitting in a dark room that was silent. I'm surprised I even…
  • Emgel, hope your hip feels better and GREAT job on that run! Last night I had a migraine so I ended up doing bike instead of some weights. I'm still not re-doing Stage 3 until Monday. Tonight I will hopefully do a 40 minute tempo run. Otherwise I'm taking it easy this week and doing another 6+ hill run on Thursday to prep…
  • QOTD (from yesterday): The short version is that we met in college :) My rib has been feeling better so on Saturday I went on a 6.something mile run. It felt really good. I reached the spot where I could make it a 3 miler or go on and I decided to go on and I'm glad I did. It was a HECK of a run. Tons of rolling hills,…
  • I initially felt that way but I did notice improvement when I focused more on how/what I was fueling my body with. I personally think it's helping my running endurance-wise. Keep at it and rest your body if you need it and fuel yourself correctly. See how it goes from there.
  • QOTD: Silver!
