I ran my first half marathon in Missoula MT on Sunday! I alternate between walking and running and finished in 3 hours...15 minutes faster than I was hoping. Loved it! Amazing atmosphere and beautiful scenery along the route...even if I had to be up at 3 am to get ready. Also did their 3 mile beer run Friday night and…

If eating overly processed, "junky" foods make you feel crappy then I would say don't eat them. I know the feeling you are talking about. I try to avoid overly processed foods as much as possible because I feel better when I don't eat them. If I do have something, like cake, I feel terribly ill and the next day feel like I…

Simplegreensmoothies.com has awesome recipes. I love their beginners luck smoothie. I add flax meal or chia seeds for an added boost of protein and fiber.

I only wear my HR monitor when I'm working out. I'm assuming because it is figuring calorie burn based on my heart rate that it must be fairly accurate. I don't eat back exercise calories but it's cool to see how many I burn.

If you were nursing that could be a big factor in your ability to eat without gaining. Having a baby is a big change to hormones and it takes quite a while for them to get back to normal. You are prolly more active chasing around 2 busy toddlers too

I would add nut butters, like peanut, almond or cashew. Melted and drizzled over thinly sliced apple is a favorite snack in my house.

If you are buying local, chances are very good that you are buying produce that does well in that area/climate. I live in Montana and both potatoes and corn grow very well here

I try to buy organic as much as possible and when not possible I follow the clean 15 list. I figure my grandparents didn't eat foods smoothered in synthetic chemicals, why should I? I value local over organic during the summer though. I don't eat a lot of meat so I don't mind splurging on high quality grass fed meats when…

Juicing can be great. Aim for juices that have more veggies than fruits (it will keep the carb count lower and less sugar). I prolly wouldn't replace an entire meal with juicing but added as part of breakfast or lunch or as a snack is a great way to get an abundance of nutrition.

Food Inc definitely played a role in my decision too. I watched it at the recommendation of Lisa Leake of 100daysofrealfood.com I'm not 100% by any means but I think solidly 75-80% clean. I choose more local produce and meats now and like knowing I'm feeding my family the best I can.

We spend on average, including household supplies, for a family of 5, $200/week plus $80/week in eating out. I buy local for as much as I can which does NOT cost less by any means. $5 for a loaf of bread, $5 for a gallon of milk, $15 for a 2lb block of raw milk cheese...it adds up really fast.

I knew this group had to exist. Thank you thank you thank you. I believe if you put good in you will get good out. I feel that the big boards don't care so much for nutrition and only look at CICO. I've been reading some crazy things and knew there had to be like minded people somewhere. I was afraid to make a comment for…

You could use fruit, veggies, liquid of choice and chia seeds or flax in a smoothie. It will increase the protein and fiber, and it's all real foods.

I have a ninja and I love it...but I know you can get refurbished vitamix or blendtec, through their websites, for much less than buying new.

I have 3 kids, all c-sections, with the youngest having just turned 1. I've been working for the last 3 weeks on losing the baby weight finally. I'm already down 7 pounds! I am combining weight watchers with MFP and its working really well. I would like to reduce my flabby belly but I have no expectations of it being gone…

Difference in body weight could be a big reason for this difference.

After 3 kids I don't expect to weigh what I did prekid, even if others can and do. Currently I'm 210 with a goal weight of 160-165. It still puts me in the overweight category but I feel it's realistic and a place I'm comfortable with.

I love my green smoothies! I've been replacing just one meal a day and I add some protein powder to help keep me full longer. I hate to eat veggies. I figure it's really no different than eating a salad for lunch.

A week ago I would have said I really wanted it but I wasn't doing anything about it, I would have given myself a 2 maybe a 3. I had an epiphany over the weekend and realized I was never going to get there until I was at least an 8 but need to be a 9 or 10 most days. I wasn't gaining weight but I wasn't losing it either.…

My last straw was just an overall feeling of disgust at myself for getting to this point. I want to feel like myself again in a body that more closely resembles the person I want to be. We are going to NYC this summer for a wedding and I want to wear a cute dress and feel AMAZING in it!

Simplegreensmoothies.com has awesome recipes for green smoothies. They have a Pinterest page too. I love their beginners luck smoothie.

A good movie to watch is Vegucated. 3 people try veganism for 6 weeks. It's a great movie and shows the animal ethics and the possible health benefits.

Keep in mind that 4 grams of sugar is equal to 1 tsp. So your 45 grams of sugar is just over 11 teaspoons of sugar. I find its easier to visualize sugar in terms of teaspoons. I worry less about naturally occurring sugars and look to reduce added sugar. To see how sugar affects your body and brain you could watch FED UP.…

We don't have a chick-fil-a but I bet I could find something similar. Thank you. Hopefully I can find something that helps so it's not like eating leaves. Hahaha

Your brains main source of energy comes from carbohydrates. Your brain can't function properly without them. Instead of cutting them cold turkey why not cut 10-15 grams each week until you find your ideal ratio. It will be easier for your body to adjust.
