  • I'm not sure if this is helpful but I received the Cuisinart icecream, sorbet and yoghurt maker for my birthday this week, because I want to be able to make yummy non-dairy icecream. I think it is around $140.00 on a couple of sites (kitchenwaredirect.com.au for one). I haven't used it yet (that's the non-helpful part of…
  • I've been vegan for a couple of months, and vegetarian for about a year and a half before that. I'm always happy to have new veg*n friends, so feel free to add me :)
  • Oops, just realised I didn't really answer the OP's question - apart from Colleen Patrick-Goudreau I also really love Veganomicon, Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World (the peanut buttercream is out. of. this. world) and Happy Herbivore. So many amazing recipes to choose from!
  • She is amazing - I have all of her books aside from Vegan's Daily Companion and 30 Day Vegan Challenge - but I will have to rectify that! Her podcasts were the catalyst for my transition from vegetarian to vegan - and I became a paid subscriber of her site because I am so grateful for her work. I'd have to encourage…
  • Hold on, stay strong and steadfast in your beliefs (vegan or otherwise). You are doing the right thing for you, and for the animals by not contributing to the violence. It's hard, but so very worth it. Good luck x
  • Yes, happy anniversary! I think I read somewhere recently that for each year the average person doesn't eat meat, the lives of 25 animals are spared. Hope your backyard is big enough for all those lovely grateful cows, chickens and piggies! x
  • Completely off topic, but your profile picture has made my day! :flowerforyou:
  • Great job! It's a wonderful feeling isn't it? The eggs issue will come (or go....) in time. I've found Colleen Patrick-Goudreau's podcast "Vegetarian Food for Thought" to be really helpful in getting past those residual issues. She's amazing. And good luck with getting your omni partner to enjoy your food too! Since going…
  • Woolworths stock some Sweet William chocolate products (as do Coles, and the Foodland that I shop at) which are vegan friendly. Also Leda 'Choculance' biscuits are vegan (as are the whole Leda range) and are suspiciously/wonderfully close to another biscuit we know and love (rhymes with flim-flam). Yum. Agreed, we all need…

  • Yep, I do that (thanks Colleen!)
  • Hello! It's not the healthiest, but I do 'sticky tempeh' quite often - 2T each of peanut butter, sweet chilli sauce and tamari mixed into a smooth paste and used as a marinade. I like to grill the marinated tempeh but you could just as easily pan fry or bake. My omni fiance has eaten it before, but I wouldn't say he…
  • Peter Singer's Animal Liberation (the why) and Veganomicon (the how).
  • Last weekend I put fresh dates (I'm sure dried would be fine) and raw cashews in the food processor (separately) then mixed them together in a bowl into a smooshy dough, rolled them between two sheets of baking paper and cut out shapes with a cookie cutter. Then I individually wrapped the pieces in gladwrap and stored them…
  • Hello from Australia! I am newly vegan, but vegetarian for a while before that. I'm loving all the vegans on here and would love new veg buddies! If anyone needs a little kick to help them make the switch from vegetarian to vegan, I highly (HIGHLY) recommend Colleen Patrick-Goudreau's podcast "Vegetarian Food for Thought".…
  • Here in Adelaide we are having quite a nice week weather wise, but the daylight savings change has me depressed, for sure. Boooooooooooo.
  • More than happy to help, if you need it :)
  • Harris Scarfe, when they have sales. I got a pair of scales there not long ago for around $100 that were usually $200. They can tell me my BF %, Water %, Bone % (FFS!), how many calories to eat to maintain or to lose, whether my outfit looks good....you name it, they have an answer.
  • Bump :)
  • No, not yet - it is definitely still on the list of things to do! Might have to make it a bit of a priority before the colder weather settles in :)
  • Hello fellow glamazons! I'm 6ft and half an inch.....terrible trouble with pant length, sleeve length, skirts and dresses always look a bit off, and don't even start me on shoes.... I hadn't thought about burpees before and I find them really tough, but I thought that was because I didn't like them....now I have a reason!
  • The protein goal that MFP sets for you (I'm assuming that's where the 45g comes from?) is exceptionally low. You can manually set your macros to have a higher protein/lower carbs/higher fats/whatever. :flowerforyou:

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS But then I feel bad for thinking that, because his dad is horrible to him and that might explain a lot. But yes.
  • JB Hi-fi are great - particularly online (and they have free delivery). Good luck!
  • I'm just over 6ft, and always happy to have new friends, especially my fellow tall gals!
  • My favourite gym pants are 3/4 length close-fitting-stretchy with a fold over band at the top - about $29 from target. Love them so much I have 3 pairs. I know they still stock them (I got my first pair around 2 years ago) so they must be popular with other people too. Rebel sport have an online store - they stock a brand…
  • I'm going to bump this post because I'd like more veg friends whose diaries I can readily relate to!
  • Hello! Yes, I am an Adelaidian.....there are quite a few of us on here :)
  • Hahaha yes!! Gosh Nike are good at marketing.....but it works!
  • Bump. That sounds like a great book. Thanks for sharing!
