Nice. Congrats! That happened to me years ago when I was on the Atkins diet. Do you have a family history of heart disease?
-
True. That’s why my dr gave me 1 year to see how far I can get doing this through nutrition & exercise. Although his training says you need the meds to fight the genetic component, I’m sure he’s secretly hoping this works.
-
Yes, now this is exactly what I’m talking about! The documentary doesn’t state that much about genetics but if heart disease can be reversed through a plant based diet, why are doctors pushing the meds so badly?!

I’ve read about the Ornish Duet. I’m not really following any specific diet. But if I were to describe my diet, i would say it’s similar to Athens Mediterranean Diet and the Ornish Diet, just not as strict. I hadn’t heard about statins causing dementia. Great, yet another reason to refuse it. I wonder if u can do short…

@Keto_Vampire Ok, 1st, pls tell me how I can reply within your response, ty, lol. So I’m not sure I understood correctly.... are you saying your parents are high risk for heart disease because of their sedentary lifestyles & poor eating habits or b/c you have a family history of heart disease?
-
@pierinifitness It’s funny how there’s still controversy over the eggs. The yolk has so much nutrition. I’m still eating eggs and I don’t think I’d ever stop, unless I had hardcore solid proof that it increases LDL.

@psuLemon You bring up very valid points. For the 15 years that I was on / off several different statins, my numbers didn’t decrease enough to warrant the severe myopathy. Here’s the medical reasoning behind it though... Nowadays, what concerns doctors more is the quality, (also quantity but def more so quality) of the…

@Keto_Vampire Do you have the family history of heart disease?

@kizanne2 Awesome job! Thanks for sharing. I pulled up your link & I’ll be reading it in full later tonight. It seems our food plans are somewhat similar. The dreaded question... is there a family history of heart disease?
-
@Terytha Thanks for your reply. Congrats on getting your numbers down! Do you have a family history of heart disease? This is the important factor and main reason all my doctors say this can’t be done through diet alone. The genetic component is the problem.

@emmamcgarity Thank you so much for sharing. I’m sorry for your loss. It is balancing act with the blood sugar & all. I’ll listen to the podcast. Thanks again for all your input! @Maxxitt The article was extremely informative. Thank you. I believe my dr is waiting for those new meds that were mentioned at the end of the…

@emmamcgarity I’m glad that worked for your sister. I have heard DASH is great at lowering BP but like your sister, I hadn’t heard about the cholesterol lowering benefits. I’m really not familiar with the diet though. I’ll have to familiarize myself with it. Does your family have a history of heart disease? I’m fighting…

@GoodLardy Yes, it does sound similar. My doctors explain it as the genetics are too strong for the nutrition (or even weight loss) to bring it down to within normal range. I guess they feel I’m hitting my head against a brick wall. My cardiologist begged me years ago to at least go on the maintenance dose. I just couldn’t…

I missed the daily calories. What’s your calorie goal? Just curious, why are you going such low carb? I’m thinking you should increase your carbs & decrease your fat percentages.

I know I’m late to the party here.... I started using Smart 138 Pea Protein Powder this month. I bought the unflavored but next time will get the chocolate. The one I have tastes absolutely nasty but I’ve been experimenting with different natural sweeteners & it’s getting better. I love that it has no sugar & the ONLY…

Same thing happened to me after I lost 60 lbs. Stay the course & ride it out. Your body is simply adjusting. You should notice you're still losing inches. Once the plateau breaks, you should drop quite a few lbs.

I don't like Stevia either but I'm using it (in the raw) b/c I'm diabetic. I find Truvia to be the closest to tasting like real sugar. My sister thinks Truvia is too sweet & has a weird taste so she uses Splenda.

@Crochetluvr... Awesome attitude! The "way of life" is hard earned. I'm amazed when I think of the changes I've made over the past two years. It makes me proud. Good for you & you will see those pounds drop real soon. Swimming is excellent. Our pool is getting opened next week. I can't wait. I'll be out there every day.
-
@Avalonms... Absolutely! I'll never give up. Running is awesome, so therapeutic. The doc said I can never run again. I challenged her. So far I'm unable to prove her wrong. No problem though. I can walk, and fast. It's all good.

It's just about 9:00 PM here right now. I'm done eating for the day but I'm drinking vodka & diet cran-grape juice.

Drink at least 8 - 10 glasses of water every day & increase your veggies.

Magnesium supplements (taken at bedtime with a small snack shortly before) Evening Primrose Oil Valerian Root Lavender Chamomile tea Deep breathing (several times throughout the day) Good luck. I did all of the above except Valerian Root & I don't like chamomile tea. The deep breathing & magnesium was the magical cure for…

Shouldn't be embarrassing at all but rather a proud moment. Good for you!

"Lol, she's funny. I love the faces babies make." To my sister regarding her newborn granddaughter stretching in the pic she had texted to me.

Lol. I like this story. I actually did this a while ago too but for some odd reason, the number didn't change. Go figure! Awesome job on the loss & best of luck to you with the last 20 & the surgery.
