Other than a caloric deficit to cut fat (which you are presumably doing anyway), there's little you can do. The lifting is a good move in that you'll minimise loss of muscle mass (presuming you're consuming an adequate amount of protein). You've got a good amount of time to lose it, so don't worry - my tummy is the last…

I usually look for what I have in the fridge that will meet my macro targets best and go from there. So, low on protein? Maybe a shake or some Greek yoghurt. But I usually have a pretty good idea of the macros of what I make before I make it, which is an advantage.

Sorry, poor joke. I would say the easiest way is to break big goals down into small goals. Meeting smaller goals is easier and you're less likely to procrastinate. Reward yourself when you meet them and positively reinforce them. Before you know it, they'll be adding up and you'll be forming habits, on the way to your…

I've never baked with Truvia but I've been meaning to try it. Supposedly, 1/3 tsp = 1tsp sugar, so if you can cut measurements by 2/3 I imagine it would provide the result you want?

Completely agree with you. I know so many 'wasters'; people who once had ambitions and now don't give a **** about what they do in life - started out with smoking weed, and I think it's just a lifestyle thing with a lot of (definitely not all) young people who regularly smoke weed. It's just grim.

If I had the funds, I'd immediately go for a lift, even an augmentation. I think that when you've put so much hard work into losing and you're still not happy with your body, it's worth it - after all, what better to spend your money on than your own confidence?!

YES

Keep everything in date!! It's a waste to chuck all that good food. Just control your portion sizes.

Always good to be explicit :flowerforyou:

If they're judging you, you have the wrong friends. :) I say make yourself accountable and log. If you're ashamed of what you're eating, maybe that's enough to provide motivation for you to improve tomorrow.

I really don't think 5 days is going to have much of an effect on your metabolism. You might lose your glycogen stores and regain them causing sudden weight change but overall the different pre and post retreat should be minimal. Have fun!

The last few pounds WILL be slowest to come off, but don't worry. (you look really good already, by the way). I really think it's worth trying to incorporate those snacks. At the very least it should develop your willpower, no? Also, if you work out a little bit more, it gives you a little more wiggle room with…

Note from the above post: if it wasn't clear, protein and fats can also be used as an energy source, they simply have other functions in the body too as mentioned, which is why meeting your macros is a good idea (to maintain these essential processes). If you're worried about diabetes then perhaps you should speak to your…

just did a little 5k. but oooh, I have that feeling now. thanks. more threads like this, please

Yep. You're right. I'm going for a run. On the way out of the door, into the cold night: 'why am I doing this to myself?!' On the way back in, after my run: 'WHY don't I do this more often?!' Every time.

Yeah. I have Britney to thank for my cardiovascular endurance. And I'm not even the biggest Britterz fan.

I usually use foodgawker for recipe ideas. How about chocolate truffles? There are ways you can lighten those up, and they're rich but the portion size is small so they might satisfy you. I'm planning on making some to gift this Christmas.

you have the guns of my dreams.

bump for recipe!

Honestly, it doesn't matter unless you go over your calories. So maybe work the snacks into your week's calories instead (having a cheat meal might just trigger more cravings for you) in order to feel more satisfied? If you're in a caloric deficit, you should lose just fine!

I actually had a conversation with my chemistry lecturer about this recently (I study biochemistry). He often uses food examples for his quizzes and in his lectures, e.g. the entropy of making moussaka or the thermodynamics of home-made butter, because it brings home the relevance to chemistry in everyday life. Don't be…

That's because EVERYTHING IS MADE OF CHEMICALS! and cooking....is just chemically altering your food. Mental, eh?

Heal now and reach your goals sooner. The last thing you want is to cause more damage and be out of action for even longer. In the long run (perhaps I shouldn't mention running at this stage), it'll help to develop your willpower anyway. :)

Eat at a caloric deficit and you'll lose weight - some of that will be fat. It'll come off from all over your body, no way of controlling where it goes from. Ab exercises will not get rid of belly fat specifically. Cardio can help to create a calorie deficit + is good for cardiovascular health, and resistance training will…

+1 I think the steel cut ones just have a higher fibre content...? Not sure though
-
The oat thing is more about texture for me than anything else - and a stronger oaty flavour, especially if the oats are toasted on a baking sheet first (and you can add a little salt towards the end of cooking, too). Can never find steel cut oats but I at least prefer to eat the jumbo rolled oats (they're whole, not…

Pack your own. If not...do you have Pod where you are? I rarely buy food out, but Pod is good enough for me to pay that little bit more...
