  • Trying eating back some of you exercise calories. Your fitness profile builds in the deficit for you. Try to get the calories remaining closer to 0. Also, you want to lose close to 10% of your body weight and you're pretty light already..it probably will be pretty tough.
  • You're doing it right. If your daily goal is 1270, that is without exercise calories.
  • We recently bought a Sole E55 elliptical. We like it a lot. Paid around $1500 for it brand new. If I had my way and could have afforded it, I would have bought a better...something a little closer to club grade. But, this one is good.
  • I always trust my HRM. We have a Sole e55 Elliptical at home and it can pickup my HR from my Timex HRM, but always computes my calories significantly lower than my Timex. Even though it is showing the same HR for the duration of the workout.
  • Something similar happened to me. I can't put away beer like I used to. I just get hammered if I try. I didn't stop drinking beer, though. Just learned to meter my intake a little better.
  • I don't know exactly what a MET is, but perhaps walking has a higher MET than you think...see below. Let computers do the work for you. The actual formula for calorie burning is technical and requires a certain amount of professional knowledge. You need to know the metabolic equivalent (MET) for each different type of…
  • Being a man, I've never given birth and this still happens to me. Particularly if I'm laying on my back with my knees up, when I extend my legs and keep them off the floor, my right hip pops. Doesn't really hurt..just feels weird.
  • Welcome! My wife is from Oregon. She lived in Philomath and Corvalis when she was growing up.
  • I would speculate that the 2 different devices aren't using the same equation for calculating calories burned.
  • Could your HRM possibly be losing contact or something? It never happened to me doing Chest and Back, but I know when I was doing dumbbell bench presses, it would lose contact sometimes. That seems awfully low to me.
  • It depends on what you put in your profile. If you set it for losing 1 lb/week, it will be 500.

  • Even if your shoes are not compatible, they (not Nike) sell something to hold the little sensor thingamajig. You just run your shoelaces through the holes before you tie your shoes.…
  • Good for you! Try not give her a second thought. She doesn't sound like the type of person that is worth the stress. You have an adorable little girl and you're making yourself feel and look better. She seems to have to put others down to feel good. I know I read alot into that, but I know the type.
  • I wear a heart rate monitor whenever I workout. You can pick up a Timex one for around $70. Mine isn't fancy, but it does what I need it to do.
  • This site has the "Classic" P90X schedule on it. Also has a link to the nutrition guide. http://www.p90xworkoutschedule.com/
  • I know the lady that makes the Walk Away the Pounds videos says sweat does not equal burning calories. The body got hot, and sweat was produced to cool the body off...that's what she said. If you're doing 45 minutes on the elliptical, you're certainly burning calories. Think of it like this...if you took the elliptical…
  • Stress can definitely derail a diet plan, but don't let it derail your exercise plan...Use exercise to relieve the stress. Go for that 20 minute walk and try to clear you mind for a while.
  • I'm sure this happens a lot. When it comes to running you have to make sure you don't run too much to begin with. Although your lungs may be able to handle the running, you have to factor in the pounding you joints will take. Set a goal of say 5 miles the first week. Not per run, but the whole week. If you ran 1.15 miles…
  • Awesome! I just started P90X...today was day 6. I'll have to show your pics to my wife. She's pretty close to your starting weight.
  • I weigh-in every Friday morning, and I change the weight in my HRM based on my Friday weight. Not sure if it's necessary to do it that often...that's just my thing.
  • Yeah...I think you would burn at least 33 calories just watching 30 Day Shred...
  • I have a Timex. It might be called a Target Zone. I can't remember. I think I paid right around $70 for it at a sporting goods store. It's pretty basic and easy to use. It only stores workout info about my most recent workout. Unlike the Polar one that my wife uses. It stores several workouts. I have no complaints about my…
  • It can get frustrating sometimes. But like you said, you know what the point is. Could there be other factor contributing to your slow weight loss? Are you sure you're eating enough? I've read lots of post from people that don't seem to eat enough. Like they're afraid to eat back their exercise calories. Remember, MFP…
  • I see you're not tracking your fiber. Maybe add that to you list of nutrients so you know how much you're getting. I saw on The Biggest Loser that foods that are a good source of fiber make you feel full longer...
  • I bought a Timex HRM from ****'s Sporting Goods. Paid right around $70. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it does what I need it to do.
  • Excellent! Keep up the good work.

  • Tamtastic had a great post this morning detailing her success. She lost 135lbs. I recommend reading that. Lots of good info..including what to do with exercise calories.
  • Shoveling snow will burn some calories.... ;-)
