  • I am also 5'5" and I had lost about 35 pounds a few years ago and had set my maintenance calories based on MFP recommendations (roughly 1800 calories) and continued to lose weight so I upped my calorie intake to 2200-2500 and seemed to be able to maintain at that level. It was a guessing game so I upped it by 200 calories…
  • Out of curiosity I checked what mine were: Fat Free Milk Fat Free Chocolate Milk Country Crock Margarine Wheat Bread Riesling I eat a lot of toast for breakfast so I get the margarine and bread but was surprised that the wine came up in my top 5! I do generally like a glass with my dinner though:)
  • The less you have to lose the longer it takes to come off. I lost the first 20 pounds in about 5 months but it took another 3 to lose the other 10. Buy a Heart Rate Monitor to calculate your calories burned through exercise. I don't know if you measure your food or not, but this was huge for me! What I thought was a…
  • I'm 5'5", 36 yrs old, and weigh roughly 125 (depending on the day) and eat between 1800-2300 calories a day depending on my exercise for the day.
  • As others have said, weight loss isn't linear so if you don't lose anything in one week that's ok. Keep doing what you are doing and the next week you may lose some. As long as over time the trend line is going down then you are doing it right:) Give it 6-8 weeks before getting overly concerned. As far as the coffee goes,…
  • MMMMM! That sounds good GSDlovers!!! I'll have to try that as I love pineapple! On a side note, love the profile pic, are they yours? I have a GSD as well and he is a total momma's boy!
  • Angel Apple Dump Cake! Buy a can of apple pie filling and mix the two together. Put it in a 9x9 pan and bake for amount of time and temperature on the box. Super easy, super yummy, and low calories!
  • I've never gone to a chiropractor but my family doctor is a DO so he does back manipulation. I go to his once maybe every 6-8 weeks and I feel instantly better. I'm prone to my hip and neck being out as well as some sciatica issues. I never understood the whole 12 week session thing with chiropractors since I generally…
  • I like cookies:tongue:
  • Count the calories! It you eat an apple, banana, orange, and some pineapple that's roughly 300 calories right there! If you make a smoothie with a banana, and 8 oz of orange juice and nothing else in it that is over 200 calories. So if you ate all of the fruit and smooth I mentioned and were set at a 1200 calorie a day…
  • You are already at a health weight and BF% but I get wanting to lower the body fat number (I'm in the process of doing the same thing). I have similar stats to you (5'5" and weigh 124 with BF at 23%) and with that being said it took me a good 5-6 months to lose that last 10 pounds! Perhaps, rather than focusing on losing…
  • Lift weights and do core exercises. Like others have said, both the Stronglifts 5x5 and New Rules for Women are great programs (I've done them both) for lifting and are easy to follow. I also like the CXWorx program by Les Mills for core work. I don't know if your gym has it but if not you can find some of the workouts on…
  • The only time I tip for carry out/take out is if they bring it out to my car, and if that's the case then I'll give them $1-2.
  • I have actually shown people my diary when they say that I need to "eat a cheeseburger!". That usually works as I eat a lot! My SIL had asked once at a holiday dinner if it was a cheat day since I had my plate piled high with food. I said no and she didn't believe me so I showed her what I had eaten over the past week and…
  • Those last 11 pounds will absolutely make a difference, or at least they did for me! Now granted it took a lot longer to lose those last 10 pounds (about 5 months) but that was really where I started to see a difference in my body composition.
  • This is just mean!!!! But I'm sure you would lose weight!
  • I have to have something sweet after I eat dinner! I don't do this, but a friend of mine does and it makes a lot of sense...she puts the calories in in the morning so she has already accounted for them for the day so she doesn't end up going over.
  • I looked at your diary and it appears that you have only logged for the past 4 days and out of those four, two of them you were over your calories. I think you calories for the day are a good number but the only way to track progress is to log consistently, especially if you are trying to lose weight. Log religiously (good…
  • Awesome transformation!!!!! Great job!
  • And, if for some crazy reason you really do only eat the one serving, you can't reheat up the rest in the bowl (says so on the container!) that it came in!
  • Buy padded shorts! I love my Pearl Izumi!
  • If you ticker is accurate then you have lost weight (8 lbs) congrats! I think people start to feel defeated when they feel that they are not progressing as quickly as they think they should. How long do you go before you "give up"? It generally takes a minimum of 4-6 weeks to start seeing progress so if you aren't being…
  • Do what you like to do because it will keep your interest. I personally like Spinning and CXWorx and the GRIT series are nice too. I've seen the most body composition change with the CXWorx class and strengthening my core.
  • I'm 5'5" and have been maintaining for about 2 years (although I gained a little over the holidays which I'm in the process of getting rid of:)). CW: 126 and MFP has my maintenance set at 1750 but I've found that I actually need to eat more than that based on the amount of exercise I do. When I first set to maintenance I…
  • I had the same exact thing happen to me over the past few months. I had been maintaining for about 2 years and not logging as much and doing ok but then around the holidays I was a slacker and wasn't doing as much exercise as I normally do and the weight crept back up. It took me about a week or so to get back into the…
  • I have a Polar FT 7 and love it! However, it does have the chest strap. I'm with the several others that say that the comfort isn't that bad and I also tend to forget that I have it on until I go to change my clothes. I've never had issues with chaffing. It shouldn't move so if it is you need to tighten the band.
  • If you make your own Chicken Salad put it in as a recipe and save it. It will tell you the amount of calories per serving based on the ingredients you type in. I agree with others in that you need to increase your calorie intake, especially if you are lifting. Also, 5 pounds is a great loss in that amount of time! The…
  • If I can do it you can! I HATED running but I like obstacle courses and I had signed up for a 15+ mile one last summer so I had to incorporate running into my training plans if I had any hope of surviving! I now try to run 1-2 days a week and have done several 5Ks:) I actually enjoy running in the cold weather better than…
  • Patience my dear:) Weight loss is not linear so you will see fluctuations. One week you may lose 3 pounds and the next week you may not lose any but then the following week you may lose a couple more pounds as long as the trend over time is decreasing you are doing it right. Being strict with your logging is a must as…
  • Great NSV! Love the pic!
