  • Have you looked into Women for Sobriety? It is an online community for women (men are welcome too) and has a completely different approach than AA. It can support AA, so you can do both. But it is a really great supportive community filled with wonderful women. Check out their website and log on to the message boards. Life…
  • I have been a vegetarian for 15+ years and I am thinking about adding fish back into my diet as well. I have PCOS and cannot lose weight because my diet is not as high in protien as it should be. Have you been checked for PCOS--it does come with an accompanying hair loss....unfortunately..... My issue is that I because a…
  • Any of you....please add me! You can never have too many friends!!
  • The other thing I forgot to mention is that I usually distance myself from the person that has done horrible things. I don't tend to be the type to cut people out of my life, but in some cases I do. I can forgive them, but that doesn't mean I have to be around them.
  • First off, your brittany is beautiful! I have two myself! You can forgive someone without talking with them--I have done it. I finally decided that holding on to the anger was not worth the trouble/pain/anger that it caused me. This was hard for me because I have a real "childlike" sense of justice, i.e. everyone should…
  • I love this phrase-- can I steal it? Every time I start running again I feel like I am new, but I am not...but this phrase takes away some of the shame that I have lapsed and makes me feel like I am a runner--even when I haven't had the chance to run in a couple weeks due to illness or general life craziness!
  • I live this phrase-- can I steal it? Every time I start running again I feel like I am new, but I am not...but this phrase takes away some of the shame that I have lapsed and mkes me feel like I am a runner--even when I haven't had the change to run in a couple weeks due to illness or general life craziness!
  • I am not an experienced runner. I have been wogging (walking and jogging)--and rather slowly. But I am inspired by the idea that you dont have to run fast to be a runner. I have briefly lapsed and am a ways from goal weight, so I am working my stamina back up now. Since I wog, I try to increase the interval of my run and…
  • Agreed! Wog on my friends!
  • I would fall and hurt myself! Ha! I am barely coordinated enough to go forward!
  • I had a very busy week this week and was only able to get in 4 miles. Hopefully after finals week is over....and all the chaos of the holidays....There will be more time!
  • I use the heart rate monitor on the treadmill I use. I try to stay between 125-152.
  • ha!
  • So what qualifies as a mile we can count? Can we count it if we jogged half of it? Jogged any of it? How should we count this? I usually wog (a combination of walking and jogging) so do I only count the part that I jogged? Or can I count the whole mile if I jogged part of it?
  • That is the goal! We can all keep each motivated to keep moving!
  • I too have been passed by speed walkers! And elderly ones at that! Ha!
  • Wow! This is exactly the kind of motivation/inspiration I need. Thanks for joining the group!
  • Sounds good. I will start keeping track so I can add something next week. And I like the idea of the challenges--a couple ideas: miles per month for the group or seeing how long it takes for us to cross a state...or some other geographical area.
  • Thanks for the encouragement/info. I am not alone...and that feels good. Now if we all just lived in the same city and could run together!
  • Good shoes was the best investment I made because I overpronate as well and have tendinitis in my right Achilles. I love my Asics kayanos. Maybe a good pair of shoes will help.
  • BTW, I love the tshirt quote!
  • There is room for as many as want to join. It is an open group. No need to send an invite, but I will.
  • Sorry for your frustration. I could go into a lecture about how we live in a child-centered world (I am a historian who has actually taught classes about how the concept of childhood has changed historically). I am also a person who has chosen not to have children...which is very different than your plight. But, if the…
  • Done! The group is set up and I have sent you all invites. Now who would like to be a moderator with me?
  • Well that format sucked! Maybe I will just make my food diary available....naw! I dont want people to see me eating m&ms!
