HIIT Traiing
Anyone on here do any HIIT (high intensity interval training)? I have read that it produces more fat burn. Anyone have experience with this?

So.....how slow can you go?
I hesitate to ask this question.....because I am a little embarassed..... I use my Nike+ to get an idea of how fast/slow I wog. Since I jog and walk, my average pace is around 15 min/mile (I jog around 12 and walk around 17ish). There are no jog/run settings that go that low, so I have to log it as a walk. This makes me…

Motivational Books on Diet/Exercise
Can anyone suggest some motivational/informational books on diet and exercise? I find that I do better and stay more motivated if I have a book I am reading. Thanks.

How do you (or I) stay on track?
I get sidetracked so easy. First, I should admit that my attempt at weight loss has been half-hearted! Yes, I signed up for MFP and most days I track my food....but it is so easy for me just to say "to heck with it" and go over. Part of my problem is that I resent feeling deprived. Why do I have to give up all the things I…

Has anyone read the John Bingham books?
I have read "The Courage to Start" and really enjoyed it. Has anyone read "No Need for Speed" or "The Accidental Athlete"? Is is a rehash of the same stuff?

What is your story?
As I mentioned in a previous post I started wogging (walking and jogging) about a year ago. I enjoy doing it but I have never been fast....in fact, I often have to log my wogs as walks because my pace is soooo slow. But that is okay! I am doing this for my personal development NOT for external rewards...other than maybe a…

Penguin Runners group
I would like to start a Penguin Runners group for those of you who run slow (like me) but at least get off the couch and do it! I have been inspired to start running by John Bignham who writes the Pengiun Chronicles (renamed No Need for Speed) for Runners World Magazine. His approach is that it is okay to be slow...like a…

What is a Penguin Runner?
About a year ago I read John Bingham's "The Courage to Start" and was inspired by his message that anyone who runs, jogs, or wogs (what I call walking and jogging) can consider themselves a runner. It was a very powerful message for a girl who never liked to run because I was slow, but wanted a challenge. I have been…
