I wasn't a history major at college but certainly from general high school history our school was taught nothing about the American Revoultion apart from the very very basics. We tended to spend more of our time on the Battle of Trafalgar, Waterloo, WW1 and WW2 etc.

Love is a strong word, but I don't change the radio channel when their songs come on. My wife, on the other hand, wouldn't so much change the channel as rip the stereo out of the car and throw it as far as she could rather than listen to them.

I used to watch it a lot as a kid. Since they brought it back I catch the odd episode here and there. Christopher Ecclestone was immense but I can see why he would only do one season as he has bigger fish to fry. All time favourite, though, was Tom Baker. I don't really have a favourite sidekick, maybe K9 ;-)

You're not alone, the same thing happened to me when I was between jobs right after I got married . . . it's not an excuse but sometimes other aspects of life can affect the healthy eating/exercise regime in a very negative way. Good to hear that you're back on the horse, so to speak.
