  • At one point I was on high BP meds along with a few other meds. after dropping alot of weight and doing hi intensity cardio for about 10 months, I was off all meds with BP in the lower normal range. WHen I started it was around 140/100 with a resting heart rate of 95. Now, it averages 105/60 with a resting heart rate of…
  • You can buy a pullup bar at walmart for around $20 that hooks over an open doorway and braces on the side door frame. No installation, take it down when you're done. The 60 days is one of the reasons I really want to try insanity!
  • This should be the quote of the week! Way on!
  • "Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live." I also like, "Life is tough... It's tougher if you're stupid." ~John Wayne
  • I agree, I believe its diet related. SO many people embark on diet plans that they don't plan on continuing for life. I believe one should make permanent changes in their diet that they are willing to stick to forever. Just my 2 cents
  • I did 5 rounds of P90X and loved it, haven't tried insanity but from what I can gather, workouts are a bit shorter but more intense and P90X has more weight training than insanity ( I could be wrong about this second part). I am also considering inasnity, In for more opinions!
  • I too like to make my own, but I do have a soft spot for that there lean cuisine santa fe beans and rice.
  • all in all it's a meal replacement that helps boost protein and tastes pretty good. As far as other proteins, I belileve that if protein "A" provides 4% more bio-availability than protein "B", who cares. It does what is supposed to do, no sense splitting hairs. BF has a comparable nutritional breakdown to most proteins in…
  • I'm all for folks using ANYTHING that helps them achieve their weight loss goals. If it works, the money is worth it. But I have to say, herbalife, shakleology, and any other supplement based product that implies the necessity of these products to succeed are looking to perform what I call a wallet biopsy. in my opinion (…
  • tru dat! pistachios too
  • There's a company called Protos inc. that puts out a line of jerkey and meat sticks made with beef and ostrich. It tastes great and for what it is has fairly low sodium, A 1.5 ounce meat stick for instance has 80 calories with 14g protein 1.5g of fat, 2 carbs, 300mg sodium and low sugar. The natural flavor in fact has no…
  • I believe they have most of the biggest loser workouts, and some jillian michaels stuff. They won't have P90X or anything from beachbody but You may find those at your local library. There's also quite a bit of Billy Blanks on netflix.
  • I'm on board with teh AM workout. I actually get up at 3:30am on lifting days and 4:00am on cardio days. My work is an hour away so with kids in teh picture It's really the only time I have to do it. It took me about 2 weeks to reset my circadian rythym but once I got used to it, my energy levels got better. That and a…
  • I'd say active. activity level should include ALL daily activities
  • the original white meat !
  • Recomp is not a bad thing. Here's a great website where you can read all of the ins and outs. CHeck out the articles section. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/
  • If your not gaining or losing, your most likely in the area of recomposition which is basically trading fat for lean muscle. This process does tend to keep fat gains to a minimum but it will also yield slower results as far as gaining muscle mass. Eating more would put you more into a bulking situation where muscle is…
  • Hi, I'm curious about your food diary. Your goal seems to change daily but seems to average a little over 4000 calories a day, but you only seem to eat between 1400 and 1800 calories most days unless you aren't updating your MFP completely. I'm curious as to how you are alive? If you are burning 2500 calories a day but…
  • In my opinion the goal of a beach body coach is double sided. Yes I'm sure they want to help you and will indeed answer alot of your questions, but the ultimate goal is to make money. Coaches get paid for every other coach they sign up underneath them over and above selling beach body programs and supplements. You'll…
  • I love these, Ostrim Beef/Ostrich meat sticks. Not too much sodium, lean and about 1.5g of fat with 80 calories, 14g protein and 2 carbs. Tastes similar to slim jims but vastly better. The same company, Protos, inc. sells alot of healthy meat snacks that aren't stuffed full of chemicals other than those needed to preserve…
  • Yes, you need to eat a surplus of calories, or over maintenance in order to put on significant muscle. Eating maintenance or in a calorie deficit makes it ALOT harder to add lean muscle unless you are fairly new to weight lifting in which you may see some Noob gains. start at around 200 calories above maintenance to limit…
  • I love to add sugar free maple syrup, but my favorite oatmeal trick ir to get sugar free pudding mix, any flavor you like and add a teaspoon to the bowl. Adds a bit of creamy texture, sweetness and flavor,. My favorite is french vanilla.
  • I track Protein, carbs, and fats of course but I also track sodium due to having been hypertensive in the past, and sugar owing to NIDDM. I don't worry about sat fats and fiber. I know with my food choices that I'm getting adequate fiber and low sat fats and I don't worry about dietary fiber negating carbs. I'm more…
  • There are so many it ain't funny!. But a hint, whey protein Isolates as opposed to whey concentrate is a purer form of whey that has been microfiltered and tends to have less calories and fat per serving. You can also get soy protein which is good as well. Alot of proteins will have a mixture of both isolates and…
  • This isn't fresh fennel but fennel seed. I make this simple but good pizza sauce. Just get a can of diced tomatoes with basil garlic and oregano. put it in a blender and grind in about a teaspoon of fennel seed. and blend. awesome stuff. Use flatouts sandwich flats and a little 2 % mozzarella and your golden.
