  • Interesting question. One would think that before would be good as a warm up stretch. Then again, it would be a nice cool down after working out. I'd be curious to see what others think as well.
  • Personally, I think it's a bogus site, designed to get your credit card info. I can't imagine that they can sell items for half orice and be the ony one doing it. The fact that they only accept credit cards, and will not accept phone orders, they do not publish a phone number or address on their site, these things are…
  • Although I do live on the same coast as one of their distribution centers, routinely when I order from them, it arrives in my state within 24hours and I usually get stuff in 2-3 days after ordering. They ARE much better than average! Also, if you order from them, don't forget to go to the free sample part of the store and…
  • You can also check out www.bodybuilding.com. Their store has a ton of whey proteins and you can examine the nutrition profile for each and compare. Suplementreviews.com is a good place to check out protein reviews. The other posters are correct though, the ON gold standard as a great go-to whey. Right now I'm using wheyfx…
  • I've tried it in the past. For me, it had no affect on weight loss, body composition or training performance. I did sleep good and had some pretty interesting dreams. Otherwise I think it, like so many other unproven supplements, are a waste of money.
  • After awhile it becomes easier to eyeball things but I still weigh almost everything even after 2 years.
  • I agree with this. Lifting is a good idea. You are not likely to bulk up unless you are eating a calorie surplus. You may have some newbie gains if you haven't done any weight training before, but you won't go all bulgy. as far as losing that fat, it's just a matter of remaining in a calorie deficit. The weight training…
  • I did 5 rounds. Changed my life. Just don't give up and don't skip any workouts. Consistency wins the race. Good luck!
in P90x! Comment by harebearva May 2012
  • In my opinion,. P90X is TOTALLY worth the money. It got me off my tail and made me work harder than I'd ever done before. The rest is history! LOL. GREAT JOB! This time next year, You will not recognize yourself, guaranteed! Keep at it!
  • There's also a recipe online for an overnight soak. Something like boiling them for 5 minutes the night before and putting a lid on the pot and leaving it on the stove. Then the next morning reheat for 5 minutes and they are ready. I tried it and it did work. But I'm just not a fan of steel cut. The texture doesn't suit me.
  • I just use the cheap ziploc containers for my salad. I prefer the square ones as the fit my lunch bag better. I did find an interesting container for my dressing, You can get little plastic paint containers at the hobby store that hold an ounce or two. The ones I got are one ounce about the size of a 35mm film canister, I…
  • It is a matter of conveinence. MRP bars are just that, an easy way to throw down calories. I use them as a supplement to my intake when I'm on the road, but whole food is better in my opinion.
  • I typically eat at a 20% deficit when losing weight. To get back to maintenance, I increase my intake by 10% and eat that for a week, then increase another 10% at which point I'm at maintenance. For me personally that means roughly +/- 200 calories weekly. This is different for everybody of course because everybody's…
  • I myself don't believe in cheat days as much as I do cheat meals. That being said, for me a cheat meal is eating without regard for macronutrient content, preparation, etc, IE. eat what you want. I am however, quite mindful of the portion size. I think cheat meals should be more about satisfying cravings than feeling full.…
  • This. Just be consistent and all will be well. If it makes you feel better you can go to other sites like calorieking.com to verify. But really who knows if they are correct as well? Just pick one and use it consistently, monitor your progress and adjust as needed.
  • Thanks for the clarification everbody. This just goes to prove my theory that no matter how much I think I know, I learn something new everyday, LOL
  • That's what I thought as well, but this person was listing 3-4 hours of various exercises daily, so albeit extreme, i suppose it's possible.
  • Ah that makes sense. So goals are adjusted automatically according to the exercise thats entered for the day? I don't log exercise so I don;t actually know how that part of MFP works. I just thought it was crazy to see someone, (one person I can think of in particular) to have goals go from 1200 one day to over 4000 the…
  • I weigh in once a week, in the morning on an empty stomach and I also make sure its the day after my rest day so my results aren't influenced by retained water in the muscle tissue that can happen post workout. Works for me.
  • Definitely worry about tomorrow. Don't concentrate on next year, it will get here before you know it. I am also a fan of short term goals. All of those one-day-at-a-times will add up and before you know it, your in 36's and wearing a large shirt. Just be consistent and do give up. Doing a little consistently is better than…
  • I personally am not a big fan of any of the bioelectric meaasuring devices. I've found tehy give you readings all over the map. The readings can be affected by your hydration level among other things. The most reliable home test I've found is the good old accumeasure caliper. Simple, cheap but good.
  • I just put on sirius Boneyard and hit it.
  • I could see visible results at about a month. performance was about 2 weeks.
  • it took me a month or more to begin to notice the benefits of creatine supp. I use Optimum nutrition mono.
  • Are you Loading? if so that could cause a bloat. No need to do a loading phase though, just start taking a maintenance dose. results take a couple weeks longer but no bloat
  • I'm feeling an entire workout series based on the top ten movies of all time. FILMINSANITY
  • AMEN! The other thing that kills me is when people actually stop you and ask your opinion on nutrition and weight loss and they disagree with everything you say.
  • My protein is routinely over as well by 20-30 grams. I lift heavy 3 days a week so I actually prefer it that way. As long as your calories are in line, don't worry about it too much. Alot of experts believe the RDA of protein is actually a little conservative anyway, but lots of opinions on that, LOL
  • One sneaky place to watch is loading up on lowfat or fat free foods. When they remove the fat, often times it is replaced with Sugar and / or carbs.
  • mmmm...I have an ongoing love affair with pork fat! But seriously, one thing that bumps my fat intake is Balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I like the newman's own and it's a healthy infurion of good olive oil in salad form.
