Well I dont know if it's right or not, but I am an early exerciser too. I dont eat before. I have water during (If Im working out at home) or a few sips before I go out and run. I have a protein shake immediately after exercise. My next meal is a snack around 9:30 at work (greek yogurt/cottage cheese/fruit mixture).…

Ive found that MFP is over estimating on most things I do. I recently got a HRM and am seeing what I truly burn. Like today, I did a 4 mile run...went slow because of some pain, and finished in just over 43 minutes. MFP had me at almost 500 cals burned, but my HRM had me at 395. (I usually burn more than that running, but…

Curious...if it's an injury, why wouldnt it hurt immediately after I started running each day? The HM is November 10, so Ive got some time....but the schedule Im doing puts me right up to race week. I dont HAVE to do it...it was just a goal I had. I though for sure, after the first few days of pain, it was just that I…

Ok, well it sounds like I need to be drinking coffee ahead of time! I am an avid coffee drinker, but I've never tried drinking it before a run. I always just cut the coffee on after I get back....so I wouldn't know if coffee made things move for me (since it happens the second I walk in the door from a run!). Right now, my…

Thanks soooo much for the responses! Some have made me giggle, but Im so glad Im not alone! I will definitely give some new things a try. I run in the subdivisions around my area, so there is not a single place that is not either on a busy road or at someone's house. I ALMOST thought about finding a bush at someone's…

Well part of my 30 minute "getting ready to go" routine IS trying to use the bathroom. Its just not ready yet! lol Im very regular, even on non-running days....I still go in the morning. I guess I will try getting up earlier. I, too, cant eat much at all before I run or I get a cramp in my side. That seems to happen to me…

My initial reason was because I couldnt stand what I saw in the mirror. Self confidence was at 0%. Now that Ive lost a good bit, it has a lot to do with vanity. I want the cuts in my arms and legs (there will never be any ab definition due to stretch marks and flab, and the fact that I hold weight in my mid section). Every…

Yes. I do...it hurts my feet if I dont. On the (very) rare occasion I do yoga, then I wont wear any.

It took me a long time to build up endurance in the first place (back when I started running) and I'd gotten up to running 5-7 miles at a time. 7.2 miles was the longest I'd ever done. And I never stopped to walk. I never ran super fast, but kept a sub 10 min/mi pace....usually between 9-9.5 min/mi. I ran 3-4x a week. If I…

Just started training for my first half marathon. Its on November 10. Nashville, Tn.

Well you probably dont want to hear this....but my suggestion would be to get up before you have to be up with the baby. That's the ONLY way I can fit in exercise. I have two small kids and by the time they go to bed, the very last thing I want to do is exercise. I also work full time and have a husband who is gone a lot…

I wish I had mint....I really want to try the mint one!!!

Well I think you could do as much as you can to build muscle under the skin, so that when the fat does come off, the muscle could maybe fill out the skin a little more. BUT....from my experience, once the skin is stretched, like with stretch marks to where it's permanently damaged, that wont go away. It can significantly…

Agree wholeheartedly. It was a hard realization for me too, but Ive been at it for almost 2 years. Its my new way of life and once I realized that, I never again had a desire to "stop". I still faithfully count calories and exercise 6 days a week. Im not perfect, Im still human...but I do the best I can and my kids see…

OMG, I could have written this post myself!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE strawberries...and yogurt!! And cottage cheese. Especially when its all mixed together! I think I have mine set at 35 or so, too, and I most days will go over. It's a lot to do with my fruits. I started eating greek yogurt instead of regular yogurt, and that…

Spot on. These were my thoughts too. Im 5'4, 31 years old. I weigh 152 lbs after a significant weight loss. The charts say Im borderline overweight (and yes, I still have some fat I could lose) but my fitness level is great. I do Insanity and P90X, I lift, I can get out and run....Im strong and healthy...yet still…

I do weigh and measure a lot. However, I tend to eat the same things a lot of the time, so if its something Im really used to eating, and I know what a cup of it looks like, then I dont measure it. But its been my experience that we over estimate portion sizes when we just guess. I think if you really want to get calorie…

THAT is what will get me!! If I know something is in the lounge, I find myself wandering there. If I stay out, and dont know...then Im not tempted!

Well I teach preschool, so not on the same level as you guys...but similar hours and schedule probably. I pack all of my foods on Sunday afternoon for the entire week. I pack lunches and snacks, and I try to only eat what's in my lunch box. I never go out to eat, or order food with coworkers on my breaks. If Ive got it…

Personally, I work out in the morning before work. I like that I get it out of the way first thing and I dont have to think about it the rest of the day. Plus I have two small kids and waiting til after they go to bed is just not an option...Im too tired by then! It's easy for me to get up, though and I realize not every…

There. Now the diary is open. THe thing is....Ive not had a good couple of weeks, so dont judge my habits by the past weeks of diary entries. And there for a while, I didnt even log on this site. I know Ive been complaining of not losing weight, and my complaint is a general statement about the past 8 months. That's the…

Thanks guys. To answer a few questions from the last page... I plateaued 6 lbs short of my goal....and then started gaining. With no change in my lifestyle. I didnt start eating poorly, I kept exercising, etc. Im now back up to 152-154. To know that I am 8-10 pounds higher than where I was is VERY frustrating, knowing that…

I allow myself to eat a little more when I exercise hard, but I never eat back all the calories. It seems completely counterproductive to me.

When I was that size, I had to go for sports bras with underwire and hooks in the back. I know Champion has a few good ones, and yeah...I'd go to a sports store for some better bras. I dont have much to offer as far as clothes. Ive got some good Everlast things. And BTW....your user name crackes me up!!

When Im in a comfortable run, Im thinking about all sorts of things. When Im weight lifting, I am thinking mostly about reps, weights, am I doing enough, what my muscles look like. When Im doing something difficult, like Insanity, or if Im having a bad running day...Im thinking about when it will be over! lol And how much…

You get up once. Then you get up twice. Then you get up again...and again. Its terrible, awful at first....but I promise you get used to it. I never EVER wanted to work out in the morning. But with two small children and a full time job, I just didnt have it in me at the end of the day. So I started gettign up in the…

Since you cant spot reduce, and you dont need to lose any more weight, you'd probably be better off trying to build the muscle in your thighs. Do some weight training and focus on your legs..see if that helps fill things out. Sometimes, some areas of our body are just more stubborn than others. Mine is my mid section. No…

Carbs. lol Mainly sweets. I am a sucker for sweets and if it's in the house...I have a really hard time staying away.
