@5512bf and @WhatMeRunning - Thank you for clarifying that. Every time I think I have a handle on running terms I read something else and realize "Nope still clueless ".

@Elise4270 - I appreciate the help. I am trying to build up to a 15 mile long run to get ready for a half marathon in December. I need to run longer than the race so I know I am ready when race day comes along. I don't like any of the plans I have found because they add miles faster than I am comfortable so I trying to…

@Elise4270 - What is an 80/20 mileage calculation? @WhatMeRunning - So base building isn't a specific number? You must be able to run X distance before you do Y? So I am looking at running an hour twice a week, a little longer once a week and 2 hours once a week that is kind of what base building is?

When I look at my total I think I am behind where I should be because I am not used to doing this many miles but actually I think I am right on track. I ended up not doing the race and it was a good thing, the highway in to work was closed and I ended up having to take the city roads for a bit to get around the closed part…

Still considering doing the 5 mile race tomorrow. It starts at 7am and I can sign up at the race at 6am. It is right by work so I can shower there afterward and I think I can be at my desk on time. I really shouldn't do it as I think it may be to much with today's run. But on the other hand there is a shirt and it is a…

Today is a cross training day with my trainer so did Tabatas (sp?). It was my first time doing speed work on a treadmill and was a little scary, only 20 seconds running/10 seconds walking repeated 8 times among other things like rowing machine and weight work. Didn't trust myself to go faster then 6.5 but I think I maybe…

@ROBOTFOOD - Glad you are ok. How terrifying, but a little funny about the low heart rate. @kristinegift - Hope you feel better soon. @skippygirlsmom - Skippy's coach sounds amazing! We have been very lucky with J's hockey coaches making sure the kids are having fun while teaching them better skills and that play harder…

Got in a humid 5 miles today. Wanted 6 but the little hills I had on my route were aggravating my piraformis and I run out of gas and struggled to get in the 5 I did. I need to be better abut my strength training so I don't end up injured again. Maybe Tuesday I will get the 6. 7/1 - 0 mi - 0 mi 7/2 - 0 mi - 0 mi 7/3 - 5 mi…

It was insanely hot this year, it was my second time doing it. The 5k sold out so it was packed but overall well run with a tiered start and 1 water stop that you hit in both directions. Last year they had 450 starters, this year there was about 1800 racers just in the 5K. I will do it again next year but either do the 5k…

I met my goal of 40 miles last month, and I need to add miles to my runs so I think 50 miles is a reasonable goal. If I do 4 runs a week, 2 of them 3 milers and 2 of them 5 milers and a small cushion for life and a cut back week should put me closer to 60 miles but I want to stay conservative so I don't re-injure myself.…

Well, didn't get up early enough to get in my planned 5 so did an easy 2.5 miles to J's baseball game with Neeko. Started out bad with an unleashed dog running out to get us. Luckily no one was biten but it took a mile to get my heart rate to stay down. On the plus side, I made goal! Wooohoooo! Strength training tomorrow,…

Survived Monday at work and all the disasters that happened while I was gone, always a plus. Was running late this morning, so only had time for an easy 2 miles. Tomorrow I am planning 4-5 miles since it is my day off and it is supposed to be cooler. Date Run Totals 6/1 - 2 mi - 2 mi 6/3 - 3 mi - 5 mi 6/4 - 3 mi - 8 mi 6/7…

Hubby woke me up to help him get ready for work so I got out early and got an easy 3 in with Neeko. He was very happy to be able to come with. My legs are crazy tight and I know I need to foam roll, I just hate doing it. That will be goal number 2 for today, to make time and just do it. Just looked at the calendar and…

Easy 4.25 today before baseball, grocery shopping, picking up car from dealership, etc. Trying to figure out how to get my run in tomorrow. Want to just run up to J's all star game, but my MIL is coming so that means she would have to drive up with my Mom and J. Or I get up early and go once I get hubby out the door to…

Today was everything yesterday wasn't, it was a lovely 70°F (21°C) but with 90% humidity. Struggled to breathe deeply walking to warm up let alone running. Did a slow 2 miles with more walk breaks than usual but at least I got out and moved. Tomorrow is a rest day then hopefully another 4 miles Saturday morning before J's…

Got in 4.5 miles today. The temperature was perfect with very little humidity plus I got to sleep in a little. Neeko and I had a good time going to the park, around it and back with no issues other than a policeman laughing at me because I had to bring Neeko into the ladies room to refill my water bottle. I was able to…

@MobyCarp - Glad you were hurt worse and your glasses were easily repaired. @DrLauraDVM16 -Thank you. I was comparing running notes with a friend and we discussing how the old people are more dangerous than the teenagers around us. @greenolivetree - Thank you. Didn't think about the stress bringing on the attack. Love the…

First run over 3 miles in months. It was really hot but felt really good until... Mid mile 4, some *kitten* hole decided not to move over for me, forcing me to jump up on the curb and trip over Neeko because he couldn't get out of the way fast enough. Down I went, flat on my face, and bounced along the lawn on my stomach…

Couldn't get out of bed this morning and it was nice and cool so I decided to run to the baseball field. Forgot it was mostly uphill and needed a "bathroom break " at Dairy Queen. Date Run Totals 6/1 - 2 mi - 2 mi 6/3 - 3 mi - 5 mi 6/4 - 3 mi - 8 mi 6/7 - 3 mi - 11 mi 6/11- 3 mi - 14 mi 6/12- 2 mi - 16mi 6/14- 3 mi - 19 mi…

What about doing core work? Planks, push ups, crunches? That will help with running form when you can get back to it.

Just did an easy run today since DH got me up early to help him get ready for work and it was cool out. I was really tight so did a long walk warm up and some stretches but couldn't get loosened up. Tomorrow is a rest day so I will spend the day stretching as I can. I looked at times from yesterday's race and everyone was…

I just completed my second 5k race of the year yesterday. I did about 10 last year before I was injured so I am struggling to get back to where I was. I normally do the 5k distance 3 - 4 times a week but am getting ready to start adding distance.
-
Congratulations @MNLittleFinn! Sounds like you had a great race! Sorry it was short.

Well, my official summer 5k is in the books. Temperature at gun time was announced at 80° (27°C) and 60% humidity. My plan was to carry a water bottle with me and drink at every walk break since there were 2 water stops and it was making me nervous. I had also planning on running 5 minutes and walking 1 minute intervals…
