Well, didn't get up early enough to get in my planned 5 so did an easy 2.5 miles to J's baseball game with Neeko. Started out bad with an unleashed dog running out to get us. Luckily no one was biten but it took a mile to get my heart rate to stay down.

On the plus side, I made goal! Wooohoooo! Strength training tomorrow, rest day Friday then another mini vacation off work with lots of running Saturday thru Wednesday.

June total to date – 122.64

Nominal Challenge Goal – 100 miles
Real Goals: Recover from injury to the point where running feels normal again. Stretch goal, recover to the point where I can run at race pace.

Today's notes – Today was the day I decided to test going to running 5 days a week. I figured something relatively easy, so I set out to run an easy 5. 77° F or 82° F, depending on whether I believe my porch thermometer (possibly in a hot spot) or the weather feed (possibly from a point some distance away.) The humidity wasn't bad. Felt great, was running a pretty consistent easy pace in the low 8's . . . and about 3.3 miles in, I noticed my right leg felt weak in a wonky sort of way. Decided I'd rather have a moderately comfortable 1.3 mile walk back home by the shortest route than risk having a painful half mile hobble back home and end up unable to run tomorrow.

As I walked, I thought about where the weakness was. I concluded this was probably the tensor fascia latta that my PT indicated was the underlying problem. OK, I may have pushed it as far as I should right now. I'm fine with quitting at 3 miles. Come to think of it, yesterday's speed work was more intense than anything I've done since Flower City.

I probably would have been better off keeping today as a rest day, but I'm hopeful that I wimped out early enough. I won't even pretend to do speed work tomorrow, and I'll pay attention to see if I need to cut the run short. Friday will be a rest day, even if I have to cut Thursday short at 2 miles. I am hopeful that today will be a one-time anomaly, but I need to think about what I'll do if that turns out not to be the case.

January 1, 2016 Resolution Run 7.5 mile (Mendon, NY) finished in 53:58

@skippygirlsmom Strained it, I must have done! After taking the day off though, it's feeling much better! As long as I don't do anything crazy to it while moving tomorrow, I should be A-OK for the rest of my miles this week!

@greenolivetree I fell on a bright & early group run on Monday. I was running close to these tiny trees that line the street, and a squirrel and I startled each other, and I tripped over a sidewalk crack jumping away from the lunging squirrel. I didn't get banged up too bad though because I almost caught myself mid-fall, but then lost my balance.

Running goal is 50 miles for June.

    6/6...8 miles
    6/12...4 miles
6/16... 3.88 miles (rolling hills program on the treadmill)
    6/17...6 miles
    6/18...9 miles
6/24...5.16 miles (rolling hills program on the treadmill)
    6/25....9 miles
    6/28....4.56 miles
    6/29...4 miles.

4 miles today. I was going to run my long run but my girlfriend wanted to meet me for dinner and I would have really been pushing it. Plan to run it tomorrow. It felt great to run outdoors, a little head wind but the temperature was cooler than the last time I ran outside. I have to make the run tomorrow count because it will be a long time before I will be able to run again (crazy work schedule).

Total is 53.4 miles...so met goal for June....probably will be over 60 miles for the month...I can't believe that I logged that much distance. I remember when 34 miles was a huge goal (last year).

Actual Goal: Finish HM training healthy, begin taper/taper well, feel ready for 7/4 HM.

Today's notes: I was not planning on running today, I had decided that I'd take an extra rest day before my upcoming HM. Well, autopilot kicked in when my alarm went off, and before I was fully awake, I was already out the door.......one of those days. Ran a 42 minute Fartlek, 15 minute warm up, 6x1 minute fast, with 1 minute recovery after, and then 15 minute cool down. Good run, and now I feel totally ready to take 3 days off of running so I can be fully rested on Monday.

What a beautiful morning. I was actually really tired at 5:00 but when the weather channel said it was in the low 60sF I was up and going. Beautiful day, the humidity was in the low 80s and a nice breeze, chilly at the start, just perfect!

Got home today and found this in the mail. So excite can't wait to try it. Did a few laps around the house and it doesn't bounce at all with my phone in and still has room for my keys and stuff. So sad today It's rest day :(
