I can see that for Takoma Park MD, temperatures normally don't go above 90F for the next 2 months. So I think that it should be ok for you to walk for 25 minutes. Just take normal precautions about lotions for skin protection against sun, etc.

Motivates me to not despair at the way the world works: The whole history of the world is summed up in the fact that when nations are strong they are not always just, and when they wish to be just they are often no longer strong. Winstom Churchill, Nov 5 1936

How are you planning to use your knowledge of math/physics to reduce weight, for your specific case? Is your method going to give you a caloric limit different by say 10 or 15% deviated from what the MFP guidelines using their tools? Is there any practical benefit of using physics in this case?
-
One quick question: How are you planning to do this?

I looked at the simulator, and it is still based on estimates. As I pointed out on my post, even if we had the perfect simulator, it would be so complex that it would be not usable by the regular person. I bet not even by the researchers that would come up with that model ! My main point: We don't need an exact…

Not sure what your point is. I am going to guess you are stating in a more elaborate way the "calories in, calories out" premise. In any case, I agree in general with you, it is a matter of physics, As a researcher yourself, I am sure you constantly the problem of finding out the model of a particular process, etc. The…

Yes, just keep at it, watching your calories, and don't give in to temptations (aka ice cream) often

According to MFP profile, you joined in April 2012. And you have lost 5 lbs So that is not so terrible ! Losing 5 lbs in less than 2 months, when your objective is only 11 lbs away, means than in 4 months or so you should reach your goal !
-
I am noticing the same for the last 15 lbs that I have to lose. Used to be losing more than 2lbs/week. No matter, even if I lose at 0.5lb/week average, I am ok :-)

The only way I can see myself not logging, is if I do enough exercise every day, to compensate for all of the extra calories I would be for sure consuming. For example, if I burn 600 to 800 cals per day. I should be able to eyeball my food and still be withing maintenance weight. And of course, I would weigh myself every…

I started my first few months on MFP using diet soda. Also used sugar substitutes for coffeee. Worked very well, as far as reducing weight. But as I started looking not only at calories, but nutrition, I also looked at any food that had artificial ingredients. So I decided to not drink any sugar substitute. And it is…

There is a lot of truth here, although it also depends on how self-confident the overweight person is. Self-confidence will allow an individual to be seen as successful and management material. But being overweight will definitively be seen as negative, for persons that don't have strong self confidence; it is this one-two…

As others pointed out here, fruits and vegetables do have calories and should be counted. They are really nice to eat, because they have plenty of nutritious ingredients, and also they can fill you with a relatively low calorie count. This is specially true with certain fruits. For example Watermelon, where you can eat one…

I am very interested to find out if any one here at MFP has has that Metacheck test done. Would be great to then compare the MFP-calculated BMR against the Metacheck test results ! Anyone ??

Excellent !! The MFP auditing system works

If an actual USER of a particular product thinks it has worked for them, and does not benefit from the publicity of it, then I do want to hear about it The main difference between you and those users at MFP, is that when you recommend Visalus, you have a conflict of interest. (you don't mention the name most of the time,…

If it is an unusual event (thanksgiving, christmas, wedding, etc), then just log all food and extra calories, and go back to your regular calorie limit next day. No need to compensate for the extra calories. But if you regularly go above your calorie limit (like once a week or more), then definitively you need to…

^^^^ YES !! Take baby steps. First, eliminate the junk food with the highest calories. That will leave you with plenty of calories left, to then eat fruit and other healthy food. Also start with short walks, maybe 1/2hr or more. That will also add a few hundred more calories to your daily limit, so now you can eat even…

I am almost 50, but you may find this MFP search engine useful to find people at MFP within a certain age, close to where you live, etc: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/user/search

I also get those comments often, but I don't agree with other posters here that jelousy is involved. I think the explanation is simple: when you have been overweight for a while, people associate your body shape with the person. With MFP, I have been losing weight relatively fast (a bit more than 2 lbs/week), so naturally…

You are doing fine. You are just beggining your MFP journey. Don't worry at the moment on balancing your Macros (Protein, Fat, Carbs); that comes naturally later, when you have mastered keeping your calorie intake controlled. If you worry this early on balancing macros, you will likely lose interest. You need sucess in…

None of those diets promise to be "healthy". Their main objective and promise: to reduce your weight. A healthy diet should give you all of the nutrients you need, without adding to it unhealthy chemicals such as preservatives, etc. As another poster indicated, whole foods are healthy. You can also eat processed foods, but…

You are doing the right thing, keep going ! I will download your Food Diary, and send you a message with a chart showing your macro percentages over time, etc. When I had a plateau. I generated a chart and realized I had to go back to macro percentages I was using before the plateau. Hopefully that is your case !

^^^ Yes Pretty much both are free of carbs, some cholesterol but I don't think you are concerned of that

Proteinas 1.2g, grasa 0.2g, Carbohidratos ("H.C."): 21.4g 2) MFP "Bananas,…

Too bad this is happening, but the fact that he hid it from you shows that he loves you and only finally told you after insisting to know why. So those are good news. Now, on the weight: Running your numbers (4' 11", 155 lbs) with a BMI calculator, you come up with a BMI of 31.4 That is at the lower end of the "obese"…

Thank you for opening your diary. I will download it and send you a message, hopefully the diary will reveal the reason for your plateau
