I weigh almost every day. Always after I go to the restroom, just after waking up. That way, any accumulated water during the night is not a factor  I find that It is very instructive to weigh every day. Since I use a digital scale that is very consistent in its readings, I can actually tell how my weight goes up…

I relate to this as well ! I have not yet reached my goal of 187 lbs, but after losing 41 lbs already I get comments as "it is not you". BTW, what is the weight of your husband? I am interested since I am also 6'1"
-
^^^ Yes, completely agree ! Same happened to me.

In you diary you say something like "chocolate banana pancakes". Not sure how harmless they are, I guess depends on the recipe. But don't concentrate on my statement about cakes, or pancakes. I sincerely think you would benefit by eating more fruit, as a source for carbs, than pancakes, etc. And the other suggestions…

Hi, I have checked your diary starting Mid January, and even back then you were eating less than 1200 calories. Maybe you did not log all? In any case, reading your diary I can see that you really like Cheese and Cakes. I also love cheese, but if there is one thing I would recommend you is to cut cheese out of your diet as…

I have looked at your diary, and this is what I see: 1) The percentages of fat, protein, carbs seem reasonable. No red flag there 2) When I calculated your BMR using MFP, with 22yrs 128 lbs and 4' 11", it came out to 1246 calories per day That tells me that definitively you should not be eating less than 1200 calories per…

I can see your diary now. I will review and let you know my opinion in a few mins
-
No, I have checked just now and your dairy is not public. I will be glad to take a look and make recommendations

^^^ Yes I am on a diet, my family is not. I don't ask my family not to but cookies or other stuff; they can buy and display them at home at liberty. It is up to me to decide not to eat that cookie or cake. There will be temptations everywhere. Yes, sometimes it is hard not to eat things we love; what I do, is eat a very…

^^ Yes It is a great learning tool to log spike days, so that you can better predict the calories when you don't have a PC around, etc

I did follow exactly as MFP suggested for the goals, for the first 3 1/2 months. I am now changing a bit the goals, but basically leaving the calories as MFP calculates. Just changing the ratios, to adjust for better health/nutrition

If you have say "50 walk minutes at 3MPH", then Miles during those 50 minutes = (Speed in MPH) multiplied by (walk minutes) and then divided by 60 = (3 MPH) x (50 min) / 60 = 2.5 miles
-
I recommend you start with "good" carbs: from fruits, etc
-
Never tried the Okinawa way, but works for millions of southern-Japanese
-
Maybe a good guideline for you, is the "Okinawa" ratios: http://www.jacn.org/content/28/4_Supplement_1/500S/T2.large.jpg if you want to read about it: http://www.jacn.org/content/28/4_Supplement_1/500S.long

I think I watched the same show, and I believe the humans chasing the animals for miles... had weapons on their hands ! Now, I don't intend to start a debate here on humans being designed or not to eat meat. Feel free to send me a message, and we can continue talking about it.
-
Yes, I am aware that monkeys and gorillas eat some small animals (lizards, etc) ocassionally. Their main diet is purely vegetarian. I questioned when you stated that it was proved that 1.8 million years ago, humans ate meat. Your last post shows that is not the case; clearly Homo erectus, according to what you quoted, was…
-
Yes. With a low calorie diet, using tools as MFP, I feel totally in control.
-
Could you please direct me to where you found that humans ate meat from the beginning? or at least from 1.8 million years ago? (which btw, is a drop in the bucket of evolution time) On the predators: last time I checked, I did not have the same "tools" as a Lion or similar predators. I challenge you to chase an animal and…

I completely understand your position. No need to be sorry, but thanks for the post :flowerforyou:

I agree with you completely on the Education part. MFP has enabled me to ensure not only that my caloric intake is reduced, but to watch for intake of fiber, cholesterol, sodium, etc for better health. On the food that humans are designed to eat: a lot of debate there ! What would a diet of the first humans look like? You…

Did you read the study? I did, and there is no statement there that suggests they are promoting processed foods. I am happy for your results on a low carb, to avoid Type II; I am no doctor, but it is plausible a low carb diet is the way to go for specific cases. The study was a compilation of all the available evidence out…
-
Totally justified in YOUR case, or anyone that has to do this for medical reasons.
-
Not trying to convince you... but I am curious what would PROVE to you that it is unhealthy to have a severely restricted carb diet, for long term (90+ days). Who would you believe?
-
My intention for posting this study from Stanford, was to give another piece of information to low-carb dieters, so that they can better make a decision. I am concerned at a personal level, that some low-carb dieters are going to extremes that may be unhealthy, as the study quotes from several medical associations.…

Carbs (and all food) have a certain caloric value. Of course, if you eat excessive carbs, you will gain weight. Try eating more protein, and guess what, you will gain weight. Carbs is just ONE of the components of a healthy diet. Not your enemy. Everything in moderation, and balance. That is the way I diet now, and plan to…

I agree that Bread, including Whole What Bread, is a processed food. And that it is likely that first humans did not eat wheat. I will give you that one. However, Carbs as you know come from many, many Natural sources. For example, Fruit. I hope you are not going to tell me Fruits are not natural and good for you. Full of…

Belly Fat Cure, I had not heard about that one. I have achieved pretty much the same results as you, without exercise, by just following MFP's caloric limit guidelines. I also monitor my cholesterol, fat, sodium for better health, again using MFP. No need in my case to follow any of the Diets being promoted out there Wish…

I do think that whole foods are good for you. Don't you? Organic? That is a whole different topic  Whole grain foods not natural? Again, a different and VERY controversial statement  My point, again, is that extreme diets and the promise of a magic solution, could be dangerous. I sent the study so that…
