The following portion of the second link, makes me think that the Nutrition tables already take into account the efficiency of the digestive system. Is that right? See: ...Back to the matter at hand. Our ACTUAL diet is a mixture of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. The AVERAGE energy content for that mixture is generally…

From the second link, here is some text to explain what I mean: Back to the matter at hand. Our ACTUAL diet is a mixture of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. The AVERAGE energy content for that mixture is generally around 5 Calories per gram, which is around 2200 Calories per the pound of food that we actually digest. So…

I agree it may be a stretch to say Cheese is linked to increased obesity as shown, but not necessarily when you read this: http://pcrm.org/health/health-topics/cheese-facts-and-alternatives Americans eat more than 33 pounds of cheese per person per year—three times more than they did in 1970—and our country is more obese…

They interviewed the French Ambassador, and he says he loves cheese, and he is not fat. However, he eats cheese as a dessert, at end of meals, by itself. Never in sandwiches, etc. That would explain why there are not as many obese in France as in the US: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-obesity (France is…

I can see that where you live in Australia, choices are limited, so they are $$$ and many with no classes What about this one? http://www.xtrafit.com.au/classes.html It is expensive, but does offer classes ! (25km from your city) also offers Child Minding facilities on weekday mornings and for all Group Fitness Classes

My take on spike days: I do not program a "regular" spike day, say once a week. I do them, but only for special ocassions (thanksgiving, christmas, going out with friends, etc) where I can't avoid eating well above my calories. Mind you, I do try to limit somewhat my calorie intake (for example, only a small piece of cake…

Check the batteries. If they are ok, Return the scale. It is clearly defective, or wrong design. As long as you are in a reasonably firm surface, that does not yield to your weight, the scale should measure consistently well within 0.2lbs.

I used to drink Coke Zero, never felt any effects even after drinking 3 cans in one meal. I don't drink anymore, since I have decided not to drink diet sodas (and sodas altogether), as well as no diet sugar.

I would check that scale, seriously ! You have lost inches and belly, so there must be a good amount of pounds associated with that ! So go and weigh yourself in another scale. And even if the weight is same on the other scale, your smaller belly and less inches tell you that your are on the right path :-)

Yes, absolutely true. The best way to obtain the correct running shoes is to go to a specialty store, and they watch you. Find one that is associated in some way to running clubs, etc.

Thank you for the article, very interesting. I agree, if you just want to reduce weight, the calorie source is not important. But I do watch the other ingredients, for health purposes. For example, no trans-fat should be in my diet. And I try to limit my cholesterol intake; not doing a great job at sodium, but I do watch…

Glad that the information was useful to you

I also recommend to you to weigh yourself in the morning when you woke up, just after going to the restroom. That way, any excess water will not be a factor in the weight. I weigh myself almost daily, and I have pretty consistent results. Some people don't like/recommend to do this everyday, but I like it because it allows…

Multiply by 2.2: 27 lbs Well done !!

LOL I am no expert, but from what I understand from weight lifting, you are actually "ripping" away your muscle fibers. So the body must "repair" the damaged fibers, and one way to do this is probably a similar mechanism of what you describe.

I have the perfect group in MFP for you to join: Cap's Scientific Support Group For folks interested in developing a better scientific understanding of the human body, engaging in Q&A and discussion with a biology prof, and giving/receiving support in weathering science courses. My 2 cents here: 1) 1500 cal is not necessarily wrong. I am at 6' 1" and my cals is 1880, and will probably be in the low 1700's once I get to my ideal weight. 2) Don't lie to your husband, feeding him more secretely. I would be really mad if my wife did that. 3) Let him count his own calories. My wife also cooks dinner…

You look great (face photos) to me already at 75 kg, do you really, really need to lose more? Maybe you are stuck at 75, because that should be your correct weight?

I see bananas as the perfect fruit, so I am not sure why two posts here argue against eating them. Of course you don't want to eat too many, but a 100-calorie banana in the morning and a couple more during the day should not break your diet, right?

Not necessarily true about sodium See: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/465772-research-show-low-sodium-diets-may-not-be-healthy
-
Yes, it was very interesting to hear that even well-known "facts" such as max sodium levels may not be necessarily true.

Same with my wife, she has VERY low blood pressure, and will have more salt in her food than I have seen anyone else take
