  • HI - Sorry I am a little late to start the challenge. I am not training for anything in particular - I just ran a couple of 5ks a couple of weekends ago and have no other races scheduled until the end of November. I am just trying to stay motivated and up my usual mileage for a given run. Up until a few weeks ago, my usual…
  • I do some yoga once or twice a week, just to help with stretching and flexibility since I am a runner as well. I have never done hot yoga, but have wanted to try it. I like to add various things in my workout plan - depending on timing and what will fit and is available. I also take a Bollywood dance class - going to try…
  • To get to the weight I was before I got pregnant the first time (about years ago) - 147 lbs. I am 154.5 right now. After that - to keep going...I am 5ft, so I would like to be in a healthy range.
  • daily..but it helps me keep on track, and I can figure out what I am eating or not eating that is helping or hindering. It keeps me motivated...even those days that I don't lose, or even gain .5 lb because it re-focuses my efforts. I am 5ft, so every little bit shows itself on me.
  • Feel free to add me too. I am 5 ft - my heaviest was 210, now I am 158.

  • We all can do this. My first piece of advice - think lifestyle change, and not diet. Second, don't feel like you have to do everything at once, it is a process. I started by adding some exercise, then when I had wrapped my mind around that, looked at eating, then added more and different exercise. This can be different for…

  • That you can crave it. That sometimes it takes a couple of miles to really get into a run.
  • I make a Curry Chickpea Salad for sandwiches (my hubby who hates chickpeas, but loves this will eat it with crackers) 1 can of chickpeas drained and rinsed, and mashed 1 small onion diced 2 celery stalks - chopped mayo tumeric black pepper curry cayenne pepper add everything to a bowl with the mashed chickpeas - from the…
  • I agree with everyone. Cook your own food - use low sodium broth for cooking and soup, rinse your beans, use herbs and spices for your food instead of salt. You would be amazed how adding spices to recipes makes it so you don't want to add salt because it tastes great. I would be wary of pre-packaged seasonings like taco,…
  • Of course leftovers are still good! Typically as long as it is not over a week, you are good to go as long as you heat stuff up good enough. You could throw whatever you have together for a casserole of some sort, with maybe a few minor additions like extra veggies or whatnot. We still have tons of turkey and a little…
  • I am 5 ft and started at 188. It took me about 18 months to get to 147. We are all different, some people will lose faster, others slower. It depends on what you are eating, how you are exercising, and what your body chemistry/hormones are like. I can say that the first 20 lbs slid off in about 6-8 weeks, the latter 20…
  • HI - A few years ago, I was told that I would have a 90% chance of never conceiving. I decided to take charge, get healthy, lose weight, eat better. I was doing it for myself, and not for trying to get pregnant. My hormones were always a little of out whack, but after losing 40 lbs, my periods became regular, and I got…
  • I am 37. 5ft. My original original SW was 188, got down to 148, add a couple of pregnancies and I am now about 165, and my goal weight is about 125 too. Feel free to add me too!
  • First, congratulations on doing so well! I am also a freebie MFP user. I would be curious to find out about the extras a premium membership entails, so any info you can share, would be great!
  • I am 5ft, and when I was about 170 lbs, I ran a 5k and was fine. At that point, I was actively losing weight and had lost about 20 lbs. It's about endurance, and getting your body to be able to run. If you want to do the 5k, you will regardless of your weight. I can say that by training for the 5k, you will lose. For me,…
  • These last few weeks, I have been on a Yogurt or Bean burger kick. If yogurt - it is plain greek, and I add walnuts and raspberries or blueberries. If Bean burger days - I have been making a black bean burger (plain) with some veggies that I heat up together... When the weather changes, I make alot of different kinds of…
