My cholesterol and weight were both at an all-time high during my annual physical this Feb. I also turned 40 in Jan. I've never been a thin person, so i just decided that was okay/normal for me to weigh more than I should. I now see that my health stats are being affected by these extra pounds and the bad habits that come…

are eggs jealous? do they hate to share the plate? just kidding. if you really like eggs, and you like these egg days, then keep it up. if you don't like eating nothing but eggs for two days a week, then stop. i see no other benefit to these egg days other than you really like eggs and you don't care to eat other foods!

I joined Planet Fitness and there are a couple out in Aurora, I like the atmosphere, maybe it would work out for you?

Nice! I'm doing 4:3 which ends up involving IF. 2000 cals 4 days/week and 500 cals 3 days. I've lost 10 pounds in ~25 days. I don't eat breakfast at all anymore even on my higher calorie days. Then on my low calorie days, i end up getting at least a 20 hour fast in before i eat. I love it. very liberating to me not to have…

I've been in Denver over 10years now and I find the culture to be much more active than in other parts of the country (been to 41/50 states). You should have no problems finding active buddies. Welcome!

Everyone - when you're eating a calorie deficit, your core body temp goes down, so you feel colder. It's totally normal. Just have blankets/jackets/sweatshirts laying around in key spots!

I haven't even lost much blubber yet (only 10 lbs) but feeling colder, and to me that means I'm losing weight! Just read an article that says people who follow calorie-restricted diets have lower core body temperature - so if you're cold it means you're on a diet AND if you've lost a lot of weight, you have less insulation…

i do the exact same thing, egg whites scrambled or omelette with pico de gallo and maybe low fat cheese.

the first week or so is hard but it gets easier i promise! i've been doing 4/3 (almost every other day), with 500 cal low days and 2000 high for 3.5 weeks and I've lost 10 lbs! I've even had calzones, fried chicken, quesadillas, beer on some of my days and I'm still losing. i love it!!!!!!!! don't dismiss something after…

Rice pudding - especially Indian kheer! brownies or chocolate cake?

I skip breakfast daily and have never felt better.

i use IF to help me "spend" my calorie budget. If i know i want to grab pizza and beer with friends, I eat light (one 500-600 cal meal) the day before/after. My approach is 4:3 = 4 days around 2000 cals and 3 days around 500cals. This ensures that even on days where I indulge, I still don't go over my weekly calorie budget…

I go on an annual heavy metal music cruise in early Feb. My pictures from this last one were awful. I had 3 chins. Next time, I'll be looking much better. I have plenty of time. Also, I turned 40 in Jan. this year. I want to use this year to whip myself back into better shape. I want to hit 41 in much better shape than…

The older I get and the more i have dieted and re-gained, the more I know it is mental. I used to think i "just loved food" and was not an emotional eater. Recent self-evaluations finally showed that I eat out of boredom, loneliness, fear of failure, and fear of letting others down, to name a few.

Almost the same.. going with fettuccine Macaroni and cheese or cheese tortellini?

THIS is yo-yoing. This is my personal weight log from the last 5.5 years. I've gone up and down 10-30 pounds over and over and over in this time. This is me going through cycles of pretending not to care about my weight, getting close to 200 lbs (my mental limit), and then being obsessed with some diet. That's what…

Oh yeah too much alcohol definitely results in late night eating for me and that is always a setback! Not arguing that. Just not adding calories in Mfp for vodka/soda when I do have those. Because I can't find that they actually have true calories.
-
yes wine and beer have calories, they have actual sugar in them still, it's not all distilled out. i was talking about hard liquor. i couldn't find an accurate calorie count for it. in my research online, i found out that vodka/rum/etc does not actually have calories. i see people on MFP enter calories for hard liquor but…

Never been a slave to fashion, i'm a metalhead and we wear a lot of black and i love that look on anyone. My cursed flat feet means no heels, might dress up one day with full makeup and then workout clothes the next. t-shirt and jeans, or halter top and mini skirt (with fishnets and combat boots because of my foot issues…

i was trying to research the alcohol/calorie thing a few months ago when my mom told me vodka had no calories. So for hard liquor, it technically doesn't have calories, but it has alcohol sugars that your body has to process. So, what I surmise is that your body has to stop digesting food OR burning fat when it turns its…

yeah, i don't really see the problem, this is awesome!

Agreed with filbo. Just hate that "fasting" is taboo throughout our culture and in much of the medical community. It is one of many possible methods to improve one's health (not the only, of course). Should be a tool up for consideration for someone's toolkit, depending on your physical and mental challenges and goals.

Yes, the HIIT my PhD buddy was having me do a few years ago WIPED ME OUT for a day in like 15 minutes! It was INTENSE! Full out sprints for as hard as I could handle with walking intervals. Had to start at 6 minutes and had eventually worked up to 17-18 minutes! I'd get my heart rate up to 170+ at times! Then, I would do…
