  • my dad still logs on MFP every single day even though he has now been at maintenance for 8 years. he says it is his reassurance that he will never regain the 50 lbs he lost after he retired. seeing is believing - it has worked for him. and, i've regained half the weight i lost in 2017, and I stopped logging daily. so, i…
  • If you workout hard, i don't suggest the 5:2 approach. It's probably better for people who don't hit it hard in the gym. I had some success with it last spring, but I am not great at sticking with things that are not "normal" and fell out of the routine after about a month and regained my weight. I was only going on walks…
  • Yup - it's not a horrible plan, but a lot of their tenets are based on studies sponsored by the American Grassfed Association. It's real, and they're having a field day with die-hard paleo people!!!!! ALLLLLL the propeganda. Of course they want you to have lots of grassfed meats and no beans or soy....because that's how…
  • Anyone here do a juice fast? I did a supervised juice fast for 52 days (yes, i did not eat food for 52 days). i actually felt awesome for most of it until the very, very end then i got a little too weak so i stopped. i had vegetable broth in the mornings and strained fruit juice for lunch and dinner. i was actually in…
  • My philosophy is that is has to WORK LONG TERM. If you don't think you can do a keto-type diet forever, then don't do it now. It has to be something you can stick to. Think of what your maintenance plan is now, not when you've lost the weight, because if you have no plan then, it is really easy for the weight to come back.…
  • the thing i learned after keeping off 35 lbs for a little while is that you just pick yourself up and eat less calories the next day! don't let a big meal or big treat turn into any kind of major derailment. one or two days above plan doesn't make anyone permanently gain weight - if there is any bloating or weight gain,…
  • I made this bread Saturday. It containts yeast, organic bread flour, water, and salt. I am marching towards my death like anyone else...one day at a time.
  • i have given away several garbage bags of clothes to charity! it's amazing how BAD clothes that are too big can really look.
  • yeah...just because you do not actually count your calories doesn't mean you are not in a calorie deficit! HA!
  • Yup....I've been at 173ish for a month now after losing almost 30 lbs in the two months before that. The holidays didn't help - i indulged, but that's part of life, and i'm not gaining, and i don't weigh what i did in Sept! I think it's better to keep weight loss goals as part of the overall picture, not the only thing…
  • the OP stated "It is becoming clear that we are meant to eat one meal a day, and people around the world are experiencing the best health benefits eating just one meal a day, just like our ancestors used to."
  • a coworker of mine lost 70lbs in 2017 by eating 5-6 small meals a day. bottom line - calorie deficit! eat 1 meal, eat 3, eat 6. if you take in less calories than your body uses, you will lose.
  • thanks! Does anyone have a recommendation for an "intermediate" type of video if you think these are getting to be too easy but you don't want to jump into p90x insanity lol?
  • Lucifer Sam - Pink Floyd
  • Nonstick pans make a HUGE difference. I use a 1/2 to 1 teaspoon max of Smart Balance for eggs and LOVE the flavor. I have a Misto that i fill with olive oil and love that also.
  • been noticing some pants and shirts being too big....but finally today i noticed a bra did not fit! my boobs are stubborn gals and I am happy they're finally weighing less, my shoulders and neck and back are happy too.
  • having to wear a belt all the time! i am so not used to that...my pants never used to annoyingly slip downduring the day due to lots of booty/tummy holding them up.
  • use your results to nullify your doubts, you're doing so awesome...and yeah i don't think stopping counting is the answer. EVERY TIME i stopped, i regained weight! counting calories and weighing yourself daily or at least weekly are the keys to long term success...1 year, 5 years, 10 years from now. my dad lost weight 7…
  • similar story! now i'm counting calories and have lost 31 of 60 pounds so far....best results in YEARS, and I eat what i want with a general attempt to eat as healthy as possible for my calorie intake (nutritious foods win out when i don't have a high calorie budget). but NO STUPID DIETS. Just calories in/out, and if i eat…
  • Getting back into the 160s for the first time in 7 years! I'm 3 lbs away after losing 30 recently!!!
  • @sardelsa You look amazing, definitely can see all the hard work you've put into your regimen, and the word bulky would be the last word to come to mind when i saw your pic. lean, muscular, developed, and awe inspiring are words i'd use.
  • yum portobella mushrooms
  • if you can't do it for 5 years, why do it for 5 days or 5 weeks or 5 months??? a sustainable approach always works best. i've tried all the fads and regained all the weight...save yourself the heartache!
  • Exactly. I did the Atkins diet which is very similar and lost 45 pounds and kept it off for close to a year. I felt like that was the longest I could absolutely do it and not go insane, because I missed rice and potatoes and pasta. I eventually gained all the weight back and then some. The only thing that really works for…
  • I do not know why so many people think drinking this helps with anything other than upsetting one's stomach. It does nothing!! Just like Garcinia Cambogia. Lol.
  • My injury is 2 broken feet - they are healing well according to my doc, not slowly at all, and they are really inspiring me to lose weight. I have burning pain when i stand for a while or walk more than 1/4 mile. I am waiting for a new gym to open near me that has a swimming pool, which is the only real exercise option for…
  • the words "egg" and "fast" together do crack me up. i don't know where that idea came from but it's pretty ridiculous. should be "egg feast" no?
  • most cakes/cupcakes aren't as good as they look!!!!
  • i was being snarky...for sure. i just hate all the attacks on 1200 when it works well for some people. and my logging and measuring is better now than it was a year ago, for sure. however, i am indeed at 1200 now and if i creep up over 1300 even with my improved food measuring and weighing discipline, i really don't lose…
  • a few raw almonds + an apple. if you take turns eating the almonds and apple bites, it sorta tastes like apple pie, no joke.
