  • I was diagnosed with an overgrowth years ago but couldn't bring myself to make such a huge lifestyle switch. My symptoms have gotten worse so I've been transitioning for about 10 days now. I already see the difference in my skin and bloating is waaay down. It's encouraging me to go deeper.
  • It's been great to read others' experiences on IF'ing. I'm just starting it myself, eating within a 5-6 hour window. The book I'm reading said it would take 3 weeks to adjust. Fingers crossed.
  • In a search I was happy to discover this post. Sorry to be late to the conversation! I just wanted to add that I came across an article that had a few helpful tips to make mindful eating a bit more doable. - Try to eat the first 3 minutes of your meal without distraction of your computer, TV, phone, etc. This will give…
  • JFT 3/7/16 - drink 3 HUGE glasses of water - plan/track meals before diving in - eat slowly; chew lots - take your vitamins Exercise tomorrow won't be a problem. I'm a Bikram yoga teacher and so I practice right after work. Always the problem is when I get home and get a serious hankering.
  • Well the US government is shooting down wolves already.
  • This is a great reminder kelbels. I've seen different articles say the same thing in the last 2 yrs. It's taught me that I have to be more respectful of my body and behave less like I can cover up for excessive or careless eating by exercising. Still learning.
  • JFT for Monday 2/29 - plan your meals and log b4 eating - drink 32oz water 3x today - stand tall; don't slouch! - eat sloooowly
  • JFT - Wednesday 2/24 - plan your meals and log before eating - drink 16ozs water before meals - sit for 10 minutes - listen to your body; don't eat bc of stress Happy Hump day everyone!
  • Just got back from a short trip to visit buds in the Bahamas. Back on track! Here's me goals for my birthday today. - love myself (sounds cheesy but i've learned it doesn't do to beat myself up for mistakes) - stand tall - be mindful of what i put in, ask is it habit? do i need it? will i feel good afterwards? - indulge a…
  • Happy Wednesday everyone! Kelbels, it's funny you would post that quote from M. Jordan. It's his birthday today. And it's mine! Proudly 41. I'm not perfect and that's fine. Every day should be about improving without feeling *kitten* for too long when we stumble. Love you guys!
  • JFT - Wed 2/11 on my way to the airport to visit a friend in the Bahamas. - log every bite faithfully - drink lots of WATER - listen close to my body's hunger and non-hunger signals
  • Just one JFT - eat how I want to feel tomorrow
  • I'm having guests over for dinner tomorrow. My mom rarely entertained. It's something my husband introduced into our lives. I love it but I'm a nervous wreck beforehand. When I'm nervous I eat. And while I'm cooking I eat. Any suggestions on how to get around this?
  • JFT for tomorrow - guests are coming over for dinner. It is VERY hard for me to stay within my goals when I'm cooking for others. I eat when I'm nervous so HELLO, entertaining makes me nervous. - snack on carrots while cooking - use whitening strips to keep me from munching...that will work for half an hour anyway - I'll…
  • I turn 41 in a couple weeks. To look at me you'd say I'm in pretty good shape but I've always struggled with weight. Now I'm adding PCOS and IBS to the mix. Lovely. For my birthday I'm "treating" myself to a thorough check up with a functional medicine doctor. She will probably tell me to give up all the things I love to…
  • JFT 1/27/16 - eat lunch for 1-3 minutes with my full attention, no tv, reading, radio - my mantra, "eat for how I want to look and feel tomorrow" - focus on other aspects of life besides FOOD I slipped Big Time today. I was feeling tired and didn't hydrate enough and all kinds of dumb excuses that led me to eat over what I…
  • I slipped this evening amigos. I was super tired, run down, long story short I ate over my allotment. But tomorrow is another day and all that. I'll make up for it.
  • JFT 1/26/16 - eat lunch for 1-3 minutes with my full attention, no tv, reading, radio - my mantra, "eat for how I want to look and feel tomorrow" - try not to use all my brain space to considering my weight[/quote] I did set a timer (I know, dorky) and gave my lunch my full attention and it was really nice. Everything…
  • This was from Sunday. Oops. Long day yesterday starting at 4am ending at 11pm but loads of good got done. JFT 1/26/16 - eat lunch for 1-3 minutes with my full attention, no tv, reading, radio - my mantra, "eat for how I want to look and feel tomorrow" - try not to use all my brain space to considering my weight
  • Tea has been a big help. Or just lemon with hot water. Or water in general. Try to eat to satiety so it's not actual hunger you're fighting, just habit. I just filled my glass up right now. Stopping the munching now.
  • I'm with you Shineylou. This has been a problem for me. It helps me to log what I'm going to eat for dinner before it happens so I don't graze mindlessly once I get home. Also try to sit and focus on your food for at least 1-3 minutes. No tv, radio, book. I'll have to remember this myself. Let me know how it goes.
  • Today is almost over for me, 9pm EST, so for tomorrow I would just like to be aware of when I am satisfied with the amount of food I've eaten. In other words not eating til I'm full. Just satisfied.
  • Good luck Kara. I was a vegan/vegetarian for 10 years. But I steered too far into carbs which did a number on my waistline plus I was always iron deficient according to my doctor. But that was about 6 years ago. I know better now and would tackle things differently. There are so many great recipes and resources out now I…
  • My motivation at this point is just how it makes me feel. Which is fantastic. At first it was a struggle to get myself up and out the door. But the workout itself has hooked me in. The feeling of energy and lightness and calm afterwards that carries over a couple days or until the next time I go is invaluable. I go bonkers…
  • Absolutely this. Plus if I'm heating up a soup I've made I'll de-stem, chop up the kale leaves and add it to the soup while it's heating up. It doesn't need much time or heat to get tender. Also, kale chips. Yum!
  • Nicely put! No guilt or judgment just awareness. I will adopt this attitude. I weigh in once a week.
  • I have a Blend-Tec (Vitamix rival) and make many green smoothies. Combos go like this: Fruits: Banana (for creaminess) plus berries or pineapple or mango Veggies: Kale or celery or chard or cucumber or spinach or a mix Optional add-ons: Coconut water, spirulina powder, green algae powder I obviously don't mind the "green…
  • My usual smoothie is either 2 cups kale 1 cup raw coco water 1 banana 1 cup blueberries Add water as needed Or 2 cups kale 1 cup raw coco water 1 banana 1 cup + pineapple Add water as needed I'll swap out blueberries for mixed berries, pineapple and mango. Sometimes I swap the banana with fresh young Thai coconut meat.
  • I loves my green smoothies. It's really not as gross as it might sound. It's basically a fruit smoothie with leafy greens. The flavor of the fruit overpowers the greens. A basic recipe would be kale, banana, blueberries and coconut water. It's da bomb.
