I'm sorry to hear of your situation. In addition to individual counseling, you might consider Adult Children of Alcoholics (http://adultchildren.org). It isn't just for adult children of alcoholics. Best wishes.

Good luck all.As you'll find out, the key is consistency, pacing your weight-loss (no more than 2 pounds a week) and eating back all your exercise calories. This will help ensure you are making sustainable changes and avoid letting your body go into starvation mode where it starts working really hard to keep the pounds on.…

I ran a 5K this week and finished in 22:25...35 seconds faster than I ran 3 months ago!

1) Be honest about your "lifestyle"...most of us these days are sedentary...working at a desk.... 2) Track everything that passes your lips...including the pad of butter that goes on the role and the 1/2 glass of wine you have to finish the bottle...even housework (cardio, burining calories). 3) Get as active as you…

I dont' have pictures but 15 pounds for me was also 2+" in the waist and most importantly got noticed by my friends, family and co-workers...comments like.."wow, you're looking good"..."have you lost weight"...."you look great"....definitely a noticable differnce.

Just do your thing and try not to be self-conscious. Everybody there is on their own journey and won't pay any attention to you....unless you are just standing around. Also, as a first-timer, getting an orientation to the machines...how they work and how to be safe is really important. I'm not a big fan of using personal…

Went to a waterpark with my family and my sons (age 10 and 12) were impressed with my muscles...eldest said...wow, that's creepy, it looks like you are on sterroids or something...amazing what losing 20+ bounds and working out on a regular basis can do!

I swim about 3 days a week and treat it like meditation. I'm always trying to go the same distance and lose track if I'm not constantly keeping in mind what lap I'm on...each length I'm repeating in my head how many yards I'll have covered by the end of the pool....it helps clear my mind. That and sometimes I'll create a…

Hang in there! For me, exercise and good eating go hand in hand. When I exercise, I eat well , when I don't, I don't...vicious cycle. My suggestion...start exercising again first, you'll feel better, get energy back and want to eat better.

Don't sweat it and keep up the good work. You are losing fat and gaining muscle.

Just to be contrary.... I've been following the MFP guided process and eating back my workout calories and hitting my goals (give or take a pound or 2 over the last 3 months. I don't see a great reason to do something else and wouldn't want to lose the progress tracker as it's one of the most motivating pieces for me.…

Keep tracking! When I started, I wan't able to get close to the calorie goals. Tracking will help you see where and when you are struggling and over time, make different choices.....I also like to focus on the activity side of things...."earning" additional calories by taking a 20 minute walk etc....good luck!
