  • I am actually making healthy shalach manos. I said it a year ago that I was going to do it. Binah had the cutest ones last week! It was a salad in a jar. I love it! I have been collecting jars for storage purposes, and a bunch of them are not good. The lids are not wide mouth. So I am making salad with crackers on the…
  • Bob's Red Mill has a lot of interesting salads. I am not big on salads. I am happy to eat the same green salad every day. I've been putting sprouts that I grew on them. It is so cool. Do you like beans? I have an interesting way to make them that is super duper fast.
  • Very late on this, but I found a recipe for baked donuts that taste like they are fried! Now I am trying to tweak my dessert recipes by taking out the oil and using other stuff. It basically doesn't work. It tastes like dreck. Anyway.
  • I love beans, and will share some recipes that maybe you will enjoy. Like was said ahead of me, don't cook them so much that they become mushy. I made buckeye beans last week. They are very underdone, totally not on purpose but totally awesome in the "concoction" I've been eating. I put about a half cup of them into a bowl…
  • Soy Delishious also makes a creamy fudge bar that is only 90 calories. It is not a very dark chocolate, but it is very creamy. I have a recipe for vegan chocolate zucchini muffins. It is a little over a hundred calories, although it may be a little more cuz I tweaked the recipe. I make a batch of them, and freeze them. 30…
  • Everyone wants to know my "secret" for losing weight. (Those who aren't busy crying about how anorexic I am and how I don't look healthy, although my doctor has REPEATEDLY told me I am fine.) They are all excited until I tell them: I started making healthy food choices. portion control. exercise. boo. Those are the my…
  • Mental note, ditch the flax seed. It makes it too grainy. Also, try to use the least amount of flour. It was slightly dry today, but after the microwave it was fine. Perfect with a cup of coffee and a bowl of fruit.
  • Sugar, caffeine, carbs .. none of them affect me. Lack of exercise, even one day? I hurt like crazy. Lesson learned? no.
  • I got pain relief from it, but be very careful. We had to keep upping the dose for me. I found complete relief at 100 mg 2x a day. However, it causes heart issues. my resting heart rate was crazy. 110??? And my workout heart rate, forget about it. I had to be taken off it when I had bleeding issues. Pay attention to the…
  • I found it impossibly hard to cut in half. Then I found out, you don't have to cut it!!! I wash the outside, poke holes with a knife, and bake at 400/425 for about 45 mins to an hour. Cut in half and let cool. Then scoop out the sides and take out the squash. Let it cool first or you will burn your fingers. (Ask me how I…
  • Bump!!! I wanna make these.
  • I've had 7, but I've never ripped or torn that muscle. I do have a friend who did with #3. She did those special sit ups you have to do where you cross your arms over your belly or something as you pull up? She was able to repair the tear. So even though I didn't go through it, I can tell you people do and fix it. Don't…
  • I was up to 200mg a day of Savella, and it really helped with the pain. However, my bp was up, my resting heart rate was so high, and when I had a biopsy done, I developed a HUGE hematoma. Took me forever to figure it out it was caused by not weaning off the savella before the procedure. When I finally got a doctor to…
  • I tried it for the first time this week. I love it with just some salt and pepper and a drop of fried onions. I also made this: http://www.diabetesdaily.com/forum/recipes/40610-savory-passover-kugel-spaghetti-squash
  • I am an orthodox Jew, and have several others here as well. I do eat matza, but not a ton. Drink a lot. I spoke with my rabbi. I found out I can eat chia seeds, quinoa, and amarynth. I am NOT going crazy with the potatoes. My big thing is my family doesn't eat a lot of things. (for instance, no food that can't be peeled.)…
  • I don't care what others think. I now find the following things gross and disgusting: High fructose corn syrup corn that is GMO transfat next up, I am working on getting rid of the food dyes my kids consumer. (they don't know it; don't tell them please!) I find it useless to say anything to anyone. Everyone thinks I got…
  • Hugs. I gorged on cookies today and now I feel sick. blech. Hopefully we will BOTH have good days tomorrow.
  • Too funny that you posted this. I had the same recipe opened in another tab to try next week. Good to know about drying the kale first. I did try sauteing kale but that was an epic failure.
  • Is there any advantage to hiding vegetables in the foods? I got a book on it, Liking hiding butternut squash in mac and cheese. I didn't see much nutritional benefit and it bumped up the carbs. (Not that the kids care; I thought it was a good idea for them to get their vegetables in secret.) Any thoughts on that? I like…
  • increase your fiber. Eat more vegetables and for sure increase your liquid intake. All the fiber in the world is worthless if there is no moisture to push it all through.
  • I've also started using it. I use it in place of oil in the frying pan when a tablespoon or so is needed. I think if I remember correctly, it has a higher burn/smoke temperature, unlike olive oil. A lot of my online friends use it in pie crusts and says it works pretty well. I don't make pies too often, so for me it isn't…
  • They also don't let you log house work. When I spend 45 mins scrubbing my mirrors vigorously and vacuuming I figure I earned the calories burned. (I actually googled them and found a site that has a calorie burned counter.)
  • There are a lot of benefits to clean eating besides weight loss. I eat a lot of carbs, because I need them. but I don't eat white flour. I eat bulgar, quinoa, amaranth, whole wheat basmati rice, a lot of beans. I have several recipes for sweets that have almost no fat in them (vegan) and are pretty decent. (They rely on…
  • Nature's Path Flax Plus Multigrain cereal and Kashi makes one that looks like captain crunch but has high fiber. (Doesn't taste anything like CC, but it is still good, imho.)
  • I take kashi (autumn harvest) and almonds in a baggie or baby carrots dry roasted edamame green apples greenish bananas Edited to add: sorry, I just realized you wrote three of things I said. I haven't tried it yet, but you are supposed to be able to roast chick peas and they are supposed to be really good.
  • I also can. my 6 yr old will pick it out of my spring salad if I let her. I didn't have good luck with kale. I tried it a few times and did not enjoy it like I do spinach. OP, have you tried sauteing the spinach with chopped onions, and making an egg white omelet out of it? I love it for breakfast. with a little cheese,…
  • I added them to my quinoa when it was almost done cooking. I like them.
  • ITA! And I am not totally muscular.
