  • It depends on the day. Some days I feel like I am moving a sluggish pace, only to find that my pace was faster than expected. On some high humidity days I can really feel the heat. I do love hot weather and summer running though. I will take a hot and humid day over running in cold/snow any day.
  • I do short intense workouts (15 minutes or so) that have a high calorie burn for the duration. Or I fit in random exercise during the day. You can do longer workouts on the weekends.
  • Very interesting article, thanks for sharing. I agree with the Dr who said every individual has their own limits. You can't arbitrarily place a number on those limits. I also think that some runners experience difficulties with health issues simply because they train their bodies for one specific activity, which can create…
  • THat's fantastic!!!! You totally rocked that workout! :D
  • Yay!!!! That's such a great accomplishment!
  • :) Thank you! You will definitely get there. It has been a building process for me to get where I am now. I am a strong believer that people should be able to stay healthy and strong from home, without spending a lot of money. Gyms are great, but not everyone can afford them. Thanks again for your kind words! :D
  • I have dark chocolate consistently. It just depends how much you are having. I keep dark chocolate chips in my freezer and either have a few or sprinkle some in yogurt. :)
  • Eggplant is one of my favorite foods! Here are some of my fave recipes: http://www.benderfitness.com/2012/08/eggplant-and-zucchini-roll-ups.html Eggplant/Zucchini roll ups http://www.benderfitness.com/2012/06/baked-eggplant-recipe-116-calories-per.html Baked Eggplant (116 calories)…
  • I LOVE smoothies! I add fruits and veggies to mine. http://www.benderfitness.com/2012/07/green-smoothie-she-hulk-style.html That is a recipe for one of my favorites. Sometimes I skip the kiwi and banana and substitute pear, but you get the general idea. :)
  • You are going to get very strong mixed opinions on this post. Both will work. I primarily do body weight exercises. You can check out my workouts at www.benderfitness.com or www.youtube.com/mdloughy but I like high intensity workouts with a lot of fat burning. Lifting weights can give you results and build muscle very…
  • I don't belong to a gym, and do all of my training at home. I have a blog/youtube where I film and share all of my workouts: www.benderfitness.com and/or www.youtube.com/mdloughy There are about 200 different workouts on there (all free). I hope it helps! The gym is a great tool, but you can still get great results at home.
  • I wear asics, I have worn mizuno in the past, but wasn't as happy with the fit. My running shoes are beat up now, I need to update. :)
  • Home workouts! I do quick ones, some as short as 10-15 minutes, and you can do another one or repeat later if you are able to make more time.
  • I mix 0% greek yogurt with a tablespoon of peanut butter and 1/2 to 1 packet of stevia in the raw. It's delicious, filling, and quick. You can even make it ahead of time, and just grab it out of the fridge. I'm also a big fan of smoothies, and eggs in the AM.
  • There is evidence to show that exercise does help with the symptoms of depression. I think the only way to find out if this works for you is to try it consistently and see what type of results you get. You may find that medication is more helpful, or with exercise you may need a much lower dose, or possibly not need…
  • Your body does need carbs to function optimally. That said some people are more sensitive to certain foods, and different bodies respond differently to certain types of diets. Personally, I do not believe all calories are created equally. I eat plenty of carbs, but I get mine from whole wheat/grains and fruits. I find that…
  • Yesterday it was a 6 Mile run and this workout with my brother: http://www.benderfitness.com/2012/08/arms-and-abs-home-workout.html Today running, and some different body weight exercises.
  • I had to do a report on this as part of my yoga certification in my holistic health class. I think that there is some truth to it, but with anything there is individual variation. Think about it, we know that chemicals in the air, in food, etc, can make you sick. Why wouldn't your blood type have some influence on your…
  • That's awesome!!! :) You can definitely do it! Keep building up like you are now. Keep up the good work!
  • I love eating. Sometimes it can be best to stop logging if you find yourself obsessing over calorie counting.
  • The research makes sense to me, green tea also has similar benefits. Both need the caffeine, decaf doesn't have the same results. I have read multiple peer reviewed studies on this topic, and I believe that it has to do with the increased blood flow to the brain. This is also why caffeine can reduce headaches. If you've…
  • The amount of peanut butter that I eat is a bit ridiculous. :) I was actually thinking about it on my run tonight. I actually really enjoy mixing it into greek yogurt with some stevia, or with a frozen banana and some cocoa so I don't eat it too excessively but I still get my fix. In general nuts are really good for you. I…
  • I have a youtube channel with workouts: www.youtube.com/mdloughy and my blog has breakdowns of all the workouts: www.benderfitness.com
  • @MLgarcia3 I would say Jasmine from Aladin mixed with Megara from Hercules (that might not be Disney though, not sure!)
  • It could be your IT band, hip flexors, or from an anterior pelvic tilt that is causing your alignment to be off. It's always best to check with a dr. Are you doing any stretching? I have some great stretches for IT band and hip flexors.
  • Those sound good! I have made pumpkin overnight oats. So yummy! I will have to look for the recipe.
  • Occupational Therapy. :) RN is a great field. Trauma is intense!
  • You need to create a diet/lifestyle that is sustainable for you. That means including the rice. Personally I love brown rice. Just make sure you are still getting nutrients and variety in your diet, and eating a reasonable amount of calories. :)
