Try not to worry or get demotivated. I sympathise as it happens to me all the time despite always being low on calories. I seem to lose one week, gain the next then lose more the next, seems silly but there it is. Overall I am making progress but it is slow. Where I really see progress is in inches lost but that has taken…

A nurse recently told me that here in Uk they have been told to disregard the old bmi method & to assess people by bone structure. According to what I read on the net to check if your frame is small, medium or large you need to see if your thumb & index finger meet around your wrist. If they meet easily you are a small…

Love it.

You are definitely in the right place, so much support from lots of lovely people. Remember you ONLY have 50 lbs to lose which is a lot less than many people here. I gained 56 lbs during a prolonged period of ill health, my general health is good I rarely pick up bugs etc but I have a lot of other health problems which…

I feel your pain because I seem to have similar problems although mine comes off goes on comes off etc etc Last week I started a low GI diet & have never eaten so much in my life!!!! I am down 1.8 lbs today after6 days following it so may be worth a try. My diary is open so have a look may help. Good luck & feel free to…

Well done you certainly are strong. Congratulations.:flowerforyou:

There is a thread on here where those on it or thinking about it can get loads of info. Despite my very very slow weight loss just think it is too unnatural to be safe; after all if you aren't pregnant you don't need those hormones I worry about the long term effects.

Big difference well done & enjoy the rest of your journey.

If it's any consolation I have the same problem I call my scales my yoyo scales! This week am trying Rosemary Conley's low GI diet to see if it works & this morning am back to where I was 12 days ago!!! At least that means I am down the 4lbs it said I had gained. Think it must be water retention either after a good…

Good luck. I finally kicked the habit January 2009 but in a more gradual way did it over 12 weeks but have been "clean" since. Be aware that instead of a cigarette you may reach for food so have suitable things ready such as bowls of crudite.

This is a constant debate here but have to say it is the only place I know where it suggests you eat more if you exercise. Weight Watchers, Slimming World, Rosemary Conley all recommend at least 30 minutes of cardio daily but they don't recommend eating more because of it. I think if you are exercising a lot, as if in…

Reading this has really encouraged me because now I know that I am not the only person to have 4lb+ fluctuations. I weigh myself several times per day, as I am determined to do this it doesn't matter, except to my hubby as those fluctuations do annoy me!!!! I do seem to have yoyo weight & seem to lose weight one week, gain…

Swimming is the only exercise I am allowed to do due to my hypermobility. I started again 3 months after major back surgery as hadn't been able to swim for years due to bad back. My first session consisted of 2 lengths of a 25 metre pool & I thought I would have a heart attack! Now I swim at least 6 hours per week & I love…

You are stunning what a wonderful achievement. You should be so very proud of yourself, you have a lovely figure.:flowerforyou:

Hello Dora,I can sympathise because I too am having a lot of problems losing weight a nowhere near my goal. One thing I would say is that, like you I am losing inches so looks as if whatever exercise you do is paying off as muscle develops & as 1lb of muscle takes up less space than 1lb of fat inches are lost. Try to stick…

How I wish I could lose like that. When I was younger that is how I lost weight, never needed to lose more than about 10lbs in those days. Now I have my calories set at 1,000 as per doctors orders, trying Not to eat exercise calories again on his orders & still having difficulty losing! It has taken me over 3 months to…

I have every sympathy with you. Although older than you have similar problems which have forced me to have back surgery after which I gained a lot of weight which I am now trying to lose. I still have spinal stenosis, fybromyalgia &arthritis & swimming is the only exercise I can do but it really does help the pain as the…

DO NOT RUN or do any strenuous activity but you can swim but not if you feel pain. Do be very careful as this is something that will not go away without care. Please please see a doctor asap. I have had major back surgery NOT only due to a trapped sciatic nerve but that was part of my problem. Steroid injections given by a…

Jealousy, frustration or genuine concern can be the only reasons so just be happy with your success. I for one am thrilled for you & think you have done an amazing job, just wish mine could be so successful as my weight loss is so very slow despite doing everything right but I will not give in!!!!! I may have a stupid body…

Hello I feel your pain because the same happened to me & after 12 days here I had gained weight, twice I got down to 181lbs from a start of 191 & now I am don to 179.8 lbs. Different people will tell you different things but if you open your diary it will be easier to provide an insight. My suggestion would be to plan…

I know just how you feel, nearly killed me bathing 7 dogs last week although they are all smaller than yours felt the burn just as much as an hour of fast swimming but sadly no idea how many calories burned probably as someone suggested with housework. Bet you were as wet as I was after hehe!
-
Just finished my first 24 hour fast & all went well. Can't weigh in as am at friends for a few days but felt fine all day & had a lovel hard 60 minute swim too.
-
Sorry no idea what "bump" means in this context:sad: :blushing: ??????
-
Am slightly confused as I had assumed that a fast meant only no cal liquids i.e. tea, coffee, water perhaps some lemon juice in tea if required but no sugar so daily intake would be 0 calories but then I see someone has 1,000 on a "fast" day!!! Could someone clarify please? Thanks

"She didnt get in trouble, because in the UK its perfectly legal to do so" I live in the same city & can assure you that it is not legal to do such a thing & that this poor excuse or a human being is currently being investigated by both the police & the RSPCA which is the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to…

Please please pretty please do not give up! I have been down to 181lbs for the third time now & am seriously hoping it stays down so if I can continue anyone can. It will DEFINITELY be water weight in my case influenced by medication & arthritis in your case probably hormones. Just think once you have lost more weight it…

Very interested in this especially as I have IBS & other problems including a stomach one so may be good to rest it but due to other medical problems the only exercise I am able to do is in deep water. For the next 12 weeks the pool I use is undergoing maintenance & the temporary pool will be only 1 metre deep which means…

Oops sorry just seen the link, very useful & am surprised to see that I am a large frame which explains why, when I weighed 112lbs at 5'3" my doctor wanted me to gain weight. How I wish for those days!!!!!!

The nurse at my doctors said that now in UK they are not to use the existing bmi calculator but a different system based on body type & waist measurement but I can't find anything about it anyone know?
