Medical issues I may have but I refuse to be defeated, there has to be a way of controlling my weight & surely sooner or later I shall find it. The worst thing by far about my medical issues is the fact I cannot be in control & I am determined to rectify that.Great to have support here though & it is very much appreciated.

Thank you Carlos.I did eat some of my exercise calories last week & gained 3.4lbs despite being considerably under the goals set by mfp!!!! I have seen the nutritionist who then sent me back to the surgeon who operated on my stomach who sent me to another consultant who .....etc etc so this is my last chance really as they…

YES Coventry.

My journey is far from smooth here but one thing I have realised is that really, if I want to lose weight, I must not eat my exercise calories or hardly any of them even after a 90 minutes hard swim. I have set my lifestyle as "sedentary" because I cannot walk far without support BUT put me in water & I can swim hard &…

I started a topic 3 days ago with exactly the same title, maybe us non losers or losers then gainers should start a club!!! Let's be friends ladies. On 2 occasions in the last 12 weeks my sticker said 10lbs weight loss & now it says 6lbs uuuggghhh! My doctor tells me to stick as close to 1000 calories per day as possible…
-
If it is any consolation I thought I had been good this week & GAINED 3.4 lbs so you are not alone in feeling upset & annoyed but upwards & onwards & tomorrow is a fresh start. Good luck with the journey & don't be too hard on yourself.

"Some mediences cause weigh gain-" Mine say they can but my doctor disputes this as rubbish!!!! And I will not be defeated but need to make sense of this. Have reluctantly recorded my new weight & am so upset to see my ticker go down.
-
Well I have been eating more than 1000 especially on exercise days but have gained all that weight!!!!
-
Thank you for posting & good luck on your journey. I am in the UK, age 59 with a number of health problems which make exercise out of a deep pool impossible but I exercise quite vigorously for 5 or 6 hours per week in a pool. Every few weeks I seem to make some progress & have dropped my calorie intake but my scales say…
-
Sorry maybe I have misunderstood but I read this post t say that the weekly deficit is 1000 calories so it will then take 3.5 weeks to lose 1lb. Have I misunderstood?
-
You are definitely NOT alone, my scales have gone UP for the 2nd time in the 10 weeks since I joined . My diary is open if anyone can shed some light please, do check out the notes section as some days have entered that days weight or notes. My base calories are set at 1,000 on doctors orders & he has told me to eat as few…

Is it working for you that is the question? Personally if I ate avocado , nuts or cheese regularly I would most certainly gain weight. Some diets ask you to count grams of fat & suggest under 30 per day. Good luck.
-
According to mfp yes according to my doctor not unless you absolutely have to!!!!In theory, even if you eat them you will lose weight because you are already set at a deficit but do be aware that the number of calories mfp say you burn are averaged & no one is average. Trial & error will sort it out or you, I actually…

Yo are an inspiration...both of you , keep up the good work & fee confident on your journey. Good luck.

Don't be discouraged ... I managed to put on 6lbs while I slept!!!!!!! Keep doing the right thing eating good quality food with lots of fruit & veg & it will work out. That 2lb will be water due to excess salt/ sodium in the chow mien.I have the same problem & have had to learn to live with it, currently 2lb more than I…

Welcome & well done on that weight loss.I am in Coventry, UK. You will find it very helpful here, feel free to add me as a friend. I am owned by 7 dogs but my exercise is swimming as due to medical issues is the only exercise I am allowed to do.Good luck.
-
Another one here but has been much better since I was able to swim again after a back op. I started slowly as hadn't been able to swim for 10 years & now it is a joy & I swim miles each week as I cannot walk much or do much other physical activity. When my pain is very bad I still try to go & just float as it eases the…

My doctor said 1000 calories on days without workouts & probably about 1200 on workout days & finally is working for me whereas before I was gaining.

If you have lost 45 lbs in such a short time then think it is natural that you have plateaued , as far as I know you need to do something different to kick start the loss but it must depend on how much more you need to lose. Would love to know how you managed to lose so much could you please tell us as has taken me 9 weeks…

Sometimes I think the idea that any food is "bad" is the thing that makes people give up. I find the best thing is to not ban any foods but to eat them in moderation. Sometimes we can "tweak" them so if we have a real craving we can fit them into our calorie allowance. Put the past back in its box, ask for your families…

Sorry to say I cannot understand why you want to change a winning formula? I gained weight eating my exercise calories & have now dropped to 1000 calories on doctors advice & eat very few of my exercise calories & finally am losing weight. After over 9 weeks I have only lost 10 lbs but most of that has been lost in the…

Sounds to me the issue is more shape than anything so probably targetted exercise for the tummy????
-
You are in a healthy weight range & you say you have a lot of muscle so maybe it is because you don't need to lose weight??????
-
"I've come to believe that the people who say they cannot lose weight by eating their exercise calories are a) overestimating their burn and/or b) underestimating their intake. It's really easy to do...both of them simultaneously will wipe out your deficit." [/quote] Now I think you have it & in my case think it may be the…

Well done Miss Skinny ribs LOL! What an inspiration you are. Many , many congratulations on the weight loss to date & good luck on your journey. I just know you will get there. You look sooo pretty.
-
You are one brave sensible lady & you will find so much support here if you weigh yourself or not.. It is not just about those numbers on the scales but, as many have said, a healthier lifestyle & that means mind & body. Just keep up the good work because it will make you healthier, more energetic & more confident. You are…

Interesting to hear so many differing opinions & think at the end of the day we have to learn to listen to our bodies but the problem is we have killed those natural eating instincts by overeating. Looks as if my journey will be long but am pleased to report a loss in both weight & inches : 2" off bust & 2" off bum & 3"…

Welcome & well done to taking the first step to a successful weight loss & healthy living.Feel free to add me as a friend for support.
